Town Centre & Quay Entertainment Zones

1. You may perform only within the designated street entertainment areas, and must display a valid permit when performing.

2. You may not perform for more than 2 hours in any one zone. After this time you will be able to move to another zone.

3. You will be auditioned for quality control on various dates throughout the year. Temporary permits can be issued between auditions.

4. The permit costs £25.00, payable by cash or cheque to the Borough of Poole, which must be received before a permit is issued. Please do not send payment until you’ve had a successful audition.

5. Poole Town Centre Management reserves the right to remove permits immediately if complaints are received. No refund will be given.

6. You may only sell CD’s and merchandise that is associated with the performance and not without permission of Poole Town Centre Management.

7. You must not be under the influence of either drugs or alcohol. If you are, you will not be permitted to continue, will have your license cancelled and the Police may be called.

Amplification If required, amplification should be operated at a reasonable level to allow other activities to continue unhindered. Any request by a Police Officer, Poole Town Centre Management or an Officer of the Borough of Poole to reduce the level of amplification must be complied with immediately.

Public Liability InsuranceCircus skills performers (particularly fire eaters) must have, and be able to produce, Public Liability Insurance and liaise with Poole Town Centre Management before performing. Some performers may also be required to produce a risk assessment.

Street CollectionBuskers and Entertainers and their money collection containers must not cause obstruction to passers by. If you are wanting to collect on behalf of a charity please inform us accordingly. You will then be required to fill in an additional form.

Code of PracticeThe Police have a copy of this Code of Practice. No right to perform is inferred by this Code of Practice and does not confer immunity from laws and local by-laws.

Withdrawal of PermitPoole Town Centre Management reserves the right to withdraw a busker or entertainers permit should this Code of Practice be violated.

It is an offence to provide public entertainment without valid

authorisation.
