Till now 470 tachinid species have been recorded in Poland (D raber -M ońko 1991). Atylostoma tricolor is a member of Leskiini tribe, that is represented in the Polish fauna by 11 species belonging to 5 genera (D raber -M o Nko 1991). Atylostoma tricolor is a very rare eurosiberian species (T schorsnig , H erting 1994) whose single specimens have been found in many parts of Eurasia. In Europe, Atylostoma tricolor occurs in Austria, Belgium, Byelorussia, France, Germany, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland and Western Russia (Luga near St. Petersburg). Available records of A. tricolor are presented in Table I and Fig. 1. In Asia, this species has been recorded in Caucasus (H erting 1984), Baikal: Vitimsk province (R ichter 1975), Far East: S a k h a lin (HERTlNg 1984), Ussuria (K olomyetz 1975, S hima 1992), Kuril Islands: Kunashir (H erting 1984) and Japan: Hokkaido (H erting 1984). http://rcin.org.pl

The knowledge abou t the biology of th is species is very scan t. Atylostom a tricolor develops within the caterp illars of Eurrypara hortulata L. (Lepidoptera: Pyralide) ( H e r t i n g 1960 ) th a t feed on com m on nettle (Urtica dioica). A. tricolor h a s one generation in a year: V I-V III ( T s c h o r s n i g , H e r t i n g 1994 ).
