J. G. Slade, E. .VL, and Coroner, on tbe body of Charles Smith (infant) who died at .Ann Melia's resi­dence, on 27th ult. Verdict—" Death from natural causes."

JAMES O 'HAEA, t.L, Eeg. No. 9841, and JOHN WILLIAMSON, t.L, Eeg. No. 8163; charged at Fre­mantle, on the 30th ult., by P.C. Barron, with unlaw­fully gambling and playing at the game of pitch and toss, at Jarrahdale, on Sunday, the 18th ult. Fined 10s. each.

On the night of the 29th ult., some person or persons attempted to break into W.D. Moore's dwelling house, Fremantle, by forcing open one of the glass doors facing High Street. The chain that fastened the door being broken. Nothing disturbed.

WILLIAM HARRIS, Sen., residing near 131 mile Station, Albany road, reported that on the 12th ult., one of his cart horses was shot in the side, with large size shot, wounds not dangerous. Suspects Edward imith, a farmer, who resides uear his residence.

"chin, jet black curly hair, whiskers, and moustache, which join, chin shaved, fine full dark eyes, generally wears a dark cloth walking coat, dark cloth vest and trousers, and round black felt or tall silk hat. He has been in Australia, and has most likely emigrated.

C.O. 7o4o.—The accompanying Eeturn, showing the strength and distribution of the Police Force from the 1st January, 1882, is published for the information of the Police throughout the Colony.

The Senior Sergeant will have charge of the Metropolitan Police as well as of the Detectire Department.

All communications that concern the Detective Department are to be addressed to the Senior Sergeant.

The Farrier Sergeant will have charge of the Police Stables in Perth.

All Officers (excepting Inspectors) and Constables coming to Perth on duty, or otherwise, will report their arrival to the Senior Sergeant, for the information of the Superintendent of Police; and all Mounted Constables coming to Perth will, in addition, report their arrival to the Farrier Sergeant.

Stout, 40 years of age, Sft. 4in. high, brown hair, oval vis.ige, dark complexion, bayonet stab in neck, D left side, bullet mark on right log, willow left arm, J light arm.
