ThePSY-201 isadeterministicpolarizationcontroller thatcangenerateandmaintainanystateofpolarization (SOP), regardlessof the inputSOP. It combinesGeneralPhotonics’ patented polarization controller, in-line polarimeter, and control algorithm into an instrument that functions as both a polarization state generator and a polarization analyzer.ThegeneratedSOPandthecorrespondingPoincaréSphererepresentationcanbedisplayedonacomputerscreenviaUSBinterface.TheoutputSOPcanbespecifiedbyinputtingStokesparametersusingthefrontpanelkeypadorbymanuallytuningtheSOPtoreachaspecificpointonthePoincarésphereortoreachanoptimumvalueofapolarization-dependentmetric.OnceadesiredoutputSOP is found, the instrumentcanautomaticallymaintain thisSOPagainst inputSOPfluctuations.Anotherattractivefeatureisthattheusercangenerateanyof6distinctSOPs(0°, 90°, ± 45°,RHCandLHC) forMuellermatrixcalculations,orselectanyof the6statesat the touchofabutton.Furthermore, the instrumentcangenerateseveralpreprogrammedSOPtraces
thatemulatecertaincommonpolarizationvariations.The instrumentcanalso functionasapolarizationscrambler,generatingSOPscanswithuser-definedpatternandspeed.Finally,withtheinternalpolarizationcontrollerdisabled,PolaFlex™canfunctionasanin-linepolarimeter,displayingtheinstantaneousSOPandDOPoftheinputlightbeam.ThePSY-201replacesthepopularPSY-101,withimprovedaccuracy,speed,andfunctionalities.Newfeaturesincludelong-termSOPmonitoring,SOPmarkersforanglemeasurement,anda"SOPreplay"functioninspheredisplaymode,aswellasextendedtriggeringcapabilityinoscilloscopemode.Itputsallofthetools necessary for polarization management at your fingertips.
