Pokémon Black and White Locations guideVersion 2.50by Jish, aka BikdipOnABus

V1.00 finished March 01, 2011. This version covers almost everything I can imagine. White Forest and Dream World details are still a bit foggy, but may be covered more extensively by other guides. Names of the White Forest

Page 2: Pokemon Black Version Location

trainers are still in Japanese.

V1.50 finished March 18, 2011. So much for covering "almost everything I can imagine". This version adds an entire section listing the encounter rates of every Pokémon in every area of the game. I also updated some info on the White Forest (including the English trainer names), added the form-changing items to the item section, and fixed a few small errors here and there. Exact mechanics of the White Forest and Dream World are still unknown.

V1.51 finished March 20, 2011 Tiny update here, just added the levels that the Pokémon that evolve by learning a certain move ... learn the move. Awkward sentence, hooray. Also changed a couple minor things.

V1.60 finished May 29, 2011 The previous version was never actually uploaded for some reason. This update corrected a couple minor things and added info on all the currently known Japanese Dream World events, as well as the Mystery Egg event. Other Japanese events (such as Ash's Scraggy and the "Trade For Evolution!" thing) aren't included because they were neither available internationally nor significant in any major way. (The Dream World event Pokémon at least have special abilities.)

V2.00 finished July 18, 2011 I never uploaded the previous version either... oops. Some small errors fixed or clarified better, and a FAQ section was added to the end to explain the more complicated concepts like the Dream World and White Forest, among other things. This should be the final update, so excuse any out-of-date info regarding events. If anything major happens (such as changing the Pokémon available in the Dream World), then I may update for that.

V2.25 finished September 28, 2011 And lo and behold, the Dream World Pokémon did change. The Spooky Manor area was added, and with it comes a pretty decent amount of previously unobtainable Pokémon, including some version exclusives and White Forest exclusives. Isolation totals in the FAQ have been adjusted accordingly. Also added are the Togekiss and Banette Dream World events, as well as the Zoroark TRU event.

As of this update, the rule of thumb for making note of event Pokémon or not is based off language. Since this is an English guide, all Japan-only events will go unnoted, seeing as how there are a lot of them, and a majority of them are unlikely to be released elsewhere. This includes the various ones given out

Page 3: Pokemon Black Version Location

through the Dream World, because when it comes down to it, access to the Dream World implies access to wi-fi events also, and a line needs to be drawn somewhere. If you happen to have a Japanese copy of the game with exclusive event Pokémon on it, then... well, you already know about them, and this guide doesn't need to spell it out for you. If you are not in that category and are curious, I recommend checking Serebii or Bulbapedia for a database of past events.

V2.30 finished November 17, 2011 The Rugged Mountain area was added to the Dream World, and with it came a lot of new Pokémon, as well as quite a few that were previously White Forest exclusives. Thus I had to change the isolation totals again. Stones and other evolution items were also added in this update. Croagunk's Dream World event is also noted, even though it doesn't offer anything particularly unique.

V2.31 updated November 27, 2011 Some of the Rugged Mountain Pokémon and evolution items appear after 7500 points. The original data didn't list this, so I fixed it, along with a couple other minor inaccuracies.

V2.50 updated July 21, 2012 Along with the release of Black 2 and White 2 in Japan (which this guide is NOT covering), the Icy Cave Dream World area was added, bringing with it a bunch of Pokémon that were previously unobtainable or exclusive to the White Forest. Info such as the isolation total was also changed to reflect this. All events (wi-fi, store-based, and Dream World) available in the English versions are noted in the guide.

v2.75 updated January 09, 2013 The Dream Park area in the Dream World has been accessible for a while now, as have Black 2 and White 2. All relevant information has been added. This guide still does not cover locations for B2/W2, but notes have been added for any Pokémon in Section 3 of the guide that are available in those games.

This guide has four main chunks to it. The first chunk, consisting ofSections 1-4, lists each of the 649 Pokémon. They are all organized byavailability, starting with the new Pokémon in the Unova Dex (the onesobtainable before the postgame), then going through all the remaining Pokémonfrom the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh regions - starting with the ones thatcan be caught in Black or White, and proceeding to the rest that must be foundin other ways.

Page 4: Pokemon Black Version Location

The second chunk goes through each area of the game from beginning to end, listing each Pokémon that can be found there, how you find them, and how likelythey are to show up. If you're going for a full collection, you can follow thispart of the guide as you play, making sure to catch everything as soon as it'savailable.

The third section is very short, but every bit as helpful when you'reready to evolve a whole bunch of Pokémon. It lists the locations of every itemneeded for evolutions or breeding, as well as the items or techniques forchanging a Pokémon's form.

And finally, the fourth section is a FAQ that will hopefully answerquestions about the trickier aspects of the game.

NOTE - This guide does NOT cover Black 2 and White 2. While each Pokémonavailable in Gens III and IV have notes on which games they can be found in,the same is NOT done for Black 2 and White 2. I will most likely have aseparate guide written for those games when they are released in English, butthis guide will most likely not be updated with the new information.

________________________- - - - - - - - - - - - - - | Pokémon in Unova Dex |- - - - - - - - - - - - - - ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

The Unova region, up until the end of the main storyline, contains onlyentirely new Pokémon never before seen in previous games and regions. Thisprovides a fresh experience similar to that of the original Red and Green (orBlue) versions over a decade ago. The total number of available Pokémon is alsosimilar, slightly beating out the original 150 with 156. This brings the grandtotal to 649, and roughly 330 of those can be caught in one game alone. For amore accurate and explained total, check the FAQ in section 7.

As always, not every Pokémon is available in both games, and some requirea trade for evolution, effectively making them unavailable in both gameswithout interaction with another game, whether it belongs to a friend, astranger online, or yourself (along with another DS to play it on). Also new toBlack and White is the introduction of event-only Pokémon that are notlegendary. A rather stupid choice if I must say so myself, but that's not thepoint. This guide will list the locations of all Pokémon, from the most commongrass-dwellers to the illusionary species that only show themselves under rarecircumstances.

In the Johto and Sinnoh games, some Pokémon appear only at certain timesof the day. For Black and White, that mechanic has been replaced with seasons. The seasons change monthly, so you'll be able to see each three times a year.Very few Pokémon are affected by this, however, and the only season withdifferent results is Winter (April, August, and December). Pokémon only foundin the Winter will be marked with (Win). Pokémon found in Spring, Summer, andAutumn, but NOT Winter will be marked with (no-W).

In addition to seasonal Pokémon, there are also some new ways to hide rarespecies in plain sight. The most simple is by looking through darker, somewhatblue-tinted grass the same way you always would. This grass may sometimes behidden in a section of the area inaccessible the first time passing through.Wild encounters in this grass often consist of two different Pokémon at once, and sometimes a Pokémon can only be found this way. These are marked with (dg).

Lastly, there is the concept of "special spots". These pop up in nearlyevery location where wild Pokémon can be found, and are triggered simply bytaking steps. The possible results are shaking grass, a dirt cloud in caves,a whirlpool in water, and a shadow on bridges. Move to the special spot andthere's your Pokémon. Certain new species can only be found this way, and itcan also, on rare occasions, yield an evolution usually not found in the wild. With the whirlpools, you can also fish in these spots and get different resultsthan surfing into them. No matter what the method, these will be marked with(sp), for special spot.

Remember - (Win) and (no-W) for season-specific encounters, and (sp) and(dg) for location-specific ones. These will be listed after the locations theyapply to, or at the very start of the list if it applies to every location thePokémon can be found in. Aquatic Pokémon will also state if they are found

Page 6: Pokemon Black Version Location

through Surfing or fishing. Fishing in this game is restricted until after theElite 4, and there is only one rod to use, which clears up some confusion.

This first list will include all Unova Dex Pokémon, but any that areunavailable in both games without trading or events will simply be redirectsto their proper sections. They are included to keep the list complete, but theinfo and checklist spots for them are in other sections. Starter and fossilPokémon will have the first listed as regularly available, and others in the"must trade" section. This obviously may not reflect your own choices, and itis only shown this way to stress that it is impossible to obtain all of themwithout trading for the ones not chosen.

SECTION 2 ______________________________- - - - - - - - - - - - | After gaining National Dex |- - - - - - - - - - - - - ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Following the trend set by Diamond and Pearl, Black and White have a largenumber of previously inaccessible Pokémon that appear after beating the Elite 4and gaining the National Dex. Let's ignore the fact that the Unova region isincredibly far away from the previous regions and is advertised as having noneof the same Pokémon, because apparently they're here anyway. And furthermore, the majority of them are simply found in areas that were blocked off earlier. There are also a ton of water types found by fishing, similar to how obtainingthe Super Rod in Sinnoh opened up an entire sushi bar of new opportunities.Except this time, this is the only fishing rod you get.

In addition to the dark grass and special spots as different ways ofencountering Pokémon, swarming returns to Black and White, functioning the sameway it did in the Gen IV games. Here, just go to any gatehouse between twoareas and watch the actually pretty hard-to-read message board sign fresh froman elementary school cafetorium or lotto machine. Cookie to anyone who got thereference. But yeah, that's all there is to it - just read the sign and checkthe area for swarms. There's 17 possible swarms (although some will differdepending on version), and what you get each day is random.

Then... there's the matter of the White Forest. As the name implies, thisarea is exclusive to White version, as the counterpart to the Black City. TheWhite Forest contains 33 Pokémon unavailable in Black, falling into twocategories - the "normal" ones, and what I call the tag-alongs. The tag-alongsappear in the water, and which of those you get depends on which normal onesyou get. This place is a lot more complicated than it seems though, and I don'tfully understand it yet. But I will explain it to the best of my ability in theFAQ section at the end of this guide.

I also include a list of Gen III and IV games you can import Pokémon from. You shouldn't need this for the ones in section 2a, and I wasn't going toinclude that info at first, but I think the guide is more complete with itbeing there for everything. Remember that to transfer from Gen III, you mustfirst send it to Gen IV. Black and White are incompatible with the GBA games."Dongle" refers to having the GBA game inserted in the DS while playing D/P/Ptto add special wild encounters. It's also known as the insertion method.

If you are playing in isolation, or even if you aren't, don't be too hastyto gloss over the sections dedicated to version exclusives or the White Forest. As long as you have wifi access, you should actually be able to get all ofthose Pokémon as well, by using the Dream World. In fact, the only Pokémon fromGenerations 1-4 that cannot be found in the Dream World are the starters,

Page 20: Pokemon Black Version Location

legendaries, the Pichu family, the Porygon family, and Unown. For more info onthe Dream World, check Section 3a. All these awkward ways of obtaining Pokémonmake counting up a definite list for how many can be obtained in one game alonea difficult task, but I've done my best. This total can be found in the FAQin section 7.

SECTION 3 ______________________- - - - - - - - - - - - - - | Not Found in Games |- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

So... everything in the guide up to this point is available between justthe Black and White cartridges. But in the annoying fashion typical to theseries, that's only scratching the surface of the Pokémon you can obtain if youhave the resources available. Many of the missing ones can be found in Black 2and White 2, but this guide is not covering any information on those games, sothey are not listed as valid locations. I will mention if a Pokémon isobtainable in those games, but not where exactly to find them. (Note - thisinformation is not provided for Pokémon in other sections of the guide.) Youalso have the option of importing Pokémon from your Gen IV games, but thisrequires a second DS.

But wait just a minute, there's still hope for a very large chunk of theunavailable Pokémon, through a funky online activity known as the Dream World. To access it, you'll need to connect your game to the Pokémon Global Linkwebsite using the C-Gear's Game Sync option. Details on this are explained inthe FAQ section at the end of the guide, and as Mario would say, you couldalways "just check out the enclosed instruction book".

Once in the Dream World, you can lead your Pokémon to the Island of Dreamsand explore an area, finding items and other Pokémon along the way. Aftercompleting mini-games, you can befriend the Pokémon you find and you will thenmeet up with them again at the Tree of Dreams after you've gone through enoughareas. You then choose one to send back to your game, where you can capture itin the Entree Forest located in Entralink. Pokémon found in the Dream World

Page 49: Pokemon Black Version Location

usually have a different ability from normal, so it's worth finding them evenif you can catch them in the main game.

But unfortunately, not all of the missing Pokémon can be found this way,and so you'll have to resort to importing and trading for the rest. TheDream World technically has the potential to hold different Pokémon wheneverthe developers feel like changing it, but this guide has updated the infowhenever they have, and so far there's been no cases of Pokémon being added ordropped unexpectedly. Do keep in mind that the Japan-only area called theCafé Forest is not listed as a location in this guide, as it was only availablefor a limited time, and I'm focusing mainly on the English versions.

Note that the PokéTransfer used to move Pokémon from Gen IV to Gen V isonly accessible after beating the Elite 4. It is located on Route 15, and youneed to have two DS systems to use this. The Relocator in Castelia City can beused much earlier, but it only works for the shiny legendary beasts and Celebi.Pokémon not in the Unova Dex can be traded in from another Black or White gameat any time.

SECTION 4 _________________- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -| Event Pokémon |- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

In a somewhat annoying trend, Pokémon games have always had at least onespecies that you can't obtain normally in the games. I respect this to someextent, since it makes these Pokémon rarer than other "rare" ones that you can

Page 65: Pokemon Black Version Location

still find once per game/file, but it also seems to encourage cheating forthose who can't attend the events or don't want to be bothered playing througha spin-off title that they don't actually enjoy, simply for one extra Pokémon. The title "event Pokémon" is actually somewhat misleading, since a good portionof them can be found in spin-off games, but the term is generally accepted.

Luckily, a good portion of these aren't needed for the game to considerthe National Pokédex complete. Going by this list, all the Pokémon in list 4aare required (as they can be found normally in at least one game), and most ofthe ones in list 4b are not required. The exceptions are Zorua and Zoroark, probably because they are not legendary and can be bred, allowing for easy massdistribution through online trading.

This guide does not list every event giveaway for every Pokémon (forinstance, getting Manaphy from Toys R Us instead of the Ranger games), becausethey differ between countries greatly, and there's no way to access thoseevents anymore. Nearly every event Pokémon has been handed out at one point oranother, so if only a spin-off game is listed as a location, I'm not denyingthe existence of the giveaways, I'm just choosing to not list them. Eventsspecifically for Black and White that are available outside of Japan are notedthroughout the guide.

4a) Found through events in some games and normally in others ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯=============================================================================== 249 *(Lugia)

Found in XD, HeartGold, and SoulSilver without events.

To purify XD's Shadow Lugia, you need all 9 purification chambers to be runningat max efficiency. No other requirements exist.

Requires MysticTicket to access Navel Rock in FireRed, LeafGreen, and Emerald. The ticket was distributed in physical events and cannot be shared.=============================================================================== 250 *(Ho-oh)

Found in Colosseum, HeartGold, and SoulSilver without events.

Can be won as a prize in Colosseum after completing Battle Mode's 100-battlechallenge. You must use a team registered from Colosseum's Story Mode party, not straight from a GBA game. It's fine to use Pokémon traded from a GBA game, they just need to be in the Colosseum team. You must also have all 48 ShadowPokémon caught and purified.

Requires MysticTicket to access Navel Rock in FireRed, LeafGreen, and Emerald. The ticket was distributed in physical events and cannot be shared.=============================================================================== 377 *(Regirock)

Page 66: Pokemon Black Version Location

378 *(Regice)

379 *(Registeel)

Found in Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald without events.

Requires special event Regigigas to access three hidden caves in Platinum. The Regigigas was distributed in real-life events. It was available when onlyDiamond and Pearl were released, so it needed to be traded to Platinum toactivate the event.=============================================================================== 380 *(Latias)

381 *(Latios)

Latias found in Sapphire, Emerald (if chosen), and HeartGold without events.Latios found in Ruby, Emerald (if chosen), and SoulSilver without events.

Requires Eon Ticket to access Southern Island in R/S/E. (Holds one not roaming)The Eon Ticket was distributed through an e-Reader card and real-life events. It can be shared through mixing records, but only by the original owner.

Requires Enigma Stone in HG/SS. (Activates one not roaming)The Enigma Stone was distributed over wi-fi.=============================================================================== 483 *(Dialga)

484 *(Palkia)

487 *(Giratina)

Dialga found in Diamond and Platinum without events.Palkia found in Pearl and Platinum without events.Giratina found in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum without events.

Requires Arceus to access Sinjoh Ruins in HG/SS. Only one of the three may bechosen. This is the only way to access Origin forme Giratina in HG/SS.Any legit Arceus will work, as they have only been distributed throughreal-life events. It was available when only D/P/Pt were released, so it neededto be traded to HG/SS to activate the event.=============================================================================== 485 *(Heatran)

Found in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum without events.

Available through a bonus mission in Pokémon Ranger Guardian Signs. The missionwas downloaded through wi-fi, is no longer available, and is not sharable.=============================================================================== 486 *(Regigigas)

Page 67: Pokemon Black Version Location

Found in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum without events, but requires the Regitrio transferred from R/S/E. Trio also available in Platinum, but requiresevent Regigigas mentioned in their event info above. With the event onealready owned, catching the other Regigigas unlocked by it is somewhatredundant, but the option exists.===============================================================================

4b) Found only through events and/or side games ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯===============================================================================[ ][ ] 151 * Mew

Requires Old Sea Map to access Faraway Island in Emerald. The map was never distributed outside of Japan.

Available in a trade (for an Egg) in My Pokémon Ranch after 999 Pokémon havebeen imported to the ranch, not counting the ones Hayley brings.===============================================================================[ ][ ] 251 * Celebi

Gift from Colosseum bonus disc (Japanese version only).Disc was obtained by pre-ordering the game, and Celebi is only transferable toRuby or Sapphire after catching and purifying all Shadow Pokémon in Colosseum.

In all other regions, only available through handout events.===============================================================================[ ][ ] 385 * Jirachi

Gift from Colosseum bonus disc (North American version only).Disc was obtained by pre-ordering the game, and Jirachi is only transferableto Ruby or Sapphire, but no other requirements are needed.

Gift from Pokémon Channel (European and Australian versions only).Transferable to any Gen III game.===============================================================================[ ][ ] 386 * Deoxys

Requires AuroraTicket to access Birth Island in FireRed, LeafGreen, and EmeraldThe ticket was distributed in physical events and cannot be shared.

Available through a bonus mission in Pokémon Ranger Guardian Signs. The missionwas downloaded through wi-fi, is no longer available, and is not sharable. Itis a multiplayer mission and thus requires at least two people with the game toplay it. Only the group leader keeps the Deoxys.

Alternate form notes Changing between Normal, Attack, Defense, and Speed formes is possible at any time in Gen IV and V.

Page 68: Pokemon Black Version Location

In Gen III, it assumes one forme based on the game. (Normal in R/S, Attack in FR, Defense in LG, Speed in Emerald.) Meteor to shift formes is found in Nacrene City's museum.===============================================================================[ ][ ] 489 * Phione {Hatches from eggs produced by Manaphy with Ditto}

Available in a trade (for Leafeon) in My Pokémon Ranch after 250 Pokémon arebrought to the ranch, counting the ones Hayley brings.

[ ][ ] 490 * Manaphy {Hatches from special Manaphy Eggs}

Manaphy Eggs available from all three Ranger games. In the original, all thatis required for the mission is a special code, but each copy of Ranger can onlysend one Egg, even if the game is restarted. In Shadows of Almia and GuardianSigns, the mission was downloaded through wi-fi, is no longer available, and isnot sharable.===============================================================================[ ][ ] 491 * Darkrai

Requires Member's Card to access New Moon Island in Platinum. The card was distributed through wi-fi, is no longer available, and is notsharable. New Moon Island can also be reached in Diamond and Pearl, but onlythrough the "tweaking" glitch, which can damage your game if done incorrectly.

Available through a bonus mission in Pokémon Ranger Shadows of Almia. Themission was downloaded through wi-fi, is no longer available, and is notsharable.

Darkrai was also given out through a wi-fi event in Black and White for a limited time.===============================================================================[ ][ ] 492 * Shaymin

Requires Oak's Letter to access Flower Paradise in Platinum. The letter was distributed through wi-fi, is no longer available, and is notsharable. Flower Paradise can also be reached in Diamond and Pearl, but onlythrough the "tweaking" glitch, which can damage your game if done incorrectly.

Available through a bonus mission in Pokémon Ranger Guardian Signs. The missionwas downloaded through wi-fi, is no longer available, and is not sharable.

Alternate form notes Uses Land forme by default. Can switch to Sky forme in Platinum, HeartGold, SoulSilver, Black, and White as long as the game recognizes your Shaymin as legitimate. Sky forme doesn't exist in Diamond and Pearl. Gracidea received in Lacunosa Town is used to change forms, but changes back at night or if frozen.

Page 69: Pokemon Black Version Location

===============================================================================[ ][ ] 493 * Arceus

Requires Azure Flute to access Hall of Origin in D/P/Pt.The flute was never distributed in any way, and the Hall of Origin can only bereached through hacking. Arceus has only been available through handouts.

There was also a Pokémon popularity poll, where the winner would be given outover the Dream World. Arceus was the winner of the poll in all participatingcountries (except Korea, where Rayquaza won), and thus was available for alimited time.

Alternate form notes Can switch to any type by holding Plate items. Has Normal type if any other item (or no item) is held. Plates are found in the Abyssal Ruins, except the Draco and Splash Plates, found on Route 13.===============================================================================[ ][ ] 000 / 494 * Victini

Requires Liberty Pass to access Liberty Garden Tower in Black and White. The pass was distributed through wi-fi as soon as the games were released.

Victini itself was also given out through a wi-fi event for a limited time, ontwo separate occasions.===============================================================================[ ][ ] 076 / 570 * Zorua |[ ][ ] 077 / 571 ** Zoroark {Lv. 30}

Zorua is found as a gift in Castelia City's GameFreak building. In order to getit, you must have a legitimate Gen IV Celebi in your party. The Celebi must bethe same language as your game card, or it will not work, and it can onlyactivate the event once, even if sent to another game.

Zoroark is found in a special battle in Lostlorn Forest. In order to activateit, you must have an event shiny beast (Raikou, Entei, or Suicune) in yourparty. The same restrictions for Celebi apply here as well.

The shiny legendary beasts and Celebi were distributed to Gen IV games priorto Black and White's release. They can be transferred to Gen V without theNational Dex (unlike most other Pokémon) by activating and using the Relocator. You can also use the PokéTransfer available after beating the game.

To activate the Relocator, go to the upper floor of the left-hand building onthe Castelia City street leading to Route 4. You will find a scientist who asksfor a special phrase. Tell him "Everyone Happy" and "Simple Connection", andthe Relocator will now be an option on the main menu. Connect a Gen IV game toBlack or White using DS Download Play, and it will be automatically searchedfor the event Pokémon. If you don't want all of them to be imported, you can

Page 70: Pokemon Black Version Location

put some in your party and those will remain in the original game.

As the only non-legendary event Pokémon, these are significantly easier to comeacross even if you missed the events needed to unlock them. Both can be seenin-game (Zorua in Castelia City, Zoroark in the final battle against N), and socan be requested on the GTS, as long as people aren't asking for ludicroustrades. They can both be bred, and the in-game Zoroark is always female, meaning Ditto isn't even required.

Zoroark was also obtainable through a Toys R Us event for a limited time.===============================================================================[ ][ ] 153 / 647 * Keldeo

Keldeo was distributed as a giveaway event shortly before the release of Black2 and White 2. It has not been given an in-game location.

Alternate form notes In Black and White, Keldeo does not have an alternate form. However, in Black 2 and White 2, it can change from the Ordinary to the Resolute forme by learning the "Secret Sword" move. It learns this in the Moor of Icirrus in B/W (by having the other three Musketeer legendaries in the party), or Pledge Grove in B2/W2. The forme change is purely aesthetic.===============================================================================[ ][ ] 154 / 648 * Meloetta

No method to obtain Meloetta outside of Japan currently exists as of January2013. It will presumably be distributed as a giveaway event in the near future.

Alternate form notes Show Meloetta to the guitar player in the Castelia City café to teach it Relic Song. Using this move in battle changes it from Aria forme to Pirouette forme.===============================================================================[ ][ ] 155 / 649 * Genesect

Genesect was distributed as a giveaway event during the release of Black 2 andWhite 2. It could only be received in those games, and the only way to get itin Black or White is to trade for it. It has not been given an in-gamelocation.

Alternate form notes The Shock and Burn Cassettes (in Black) and Douse and Chill Cassettes (in White) can be found by showing Genesect to a scientist in the P2 Laboratory. These change the type of its Techno Blast move, but that's the only change.

SECTION 5

Well, that concludes the portion of the guide that lists every Pokémon andall of their locations. But what if you're looking for a list of which Pokémonare in a specific location? You could search through the entire guide, which isincredibly inconvenient (especially if you're looking for a Route, becausethose are listed by number only and doing a search would return a millionresults)... or you could look in this part. It's almost like it's convenient orsomething.

This part of the guide should be fairly self-explanatory. Just jump to thelocation you want to check, and all the Pokémon you can find are listedvertically from common to rare. Going across the chart horizontally are thedifferent conditions you can find them in. This includes basic grass, surfing, and the like, as well as the special spots explained at the top of the guide.

Each location is listed in the order that you pass through them during anormal playthrough of the game. Whenever a certain badge, HM, or other eventis required for a location to be accessible, this will be noted. This will alsoapply to all locations further on in the list, obviously.

In some areas, you'll need an HM before you can access some spots (forexample, the double battle grass on Route 1 requires Surf), and these will alsobe noted. For areas affected by seasonal changes (Winter being the only onewith changes to the wild Pokémon), the area will be listed twice for the sakeof cleaner organization.

In the case of Basculin, it is only listed as one entity for each locationit can be found in. Remember that in Black, the red form is found throughnormal Surfing and fishing, whereas in White, the blue form is found that way. To find the other form, just check the whirlpools. The formatting here lists"Whirl" twice - the first one refers to Surfing; the second one fishing.

Details are confusing, but explained as well as I can manage in the FAQ at theend of the guide.

I've listed these areas immediately after N's Castle in the guide because it'sa good idea to check them out as soon as possible. The trainers will leave thecity / forest if not talked to for a certain number of days, and the countdownbegins as soon as the game is started, long before you have access to them. The guide will now begin going through the remaining areas in a clockwisefashion, continuing the way you progressed through the game previously.===============================================================================Dreamyard (Basement)

SECTION 6 ______________________________________________- - - - - - - - | Items required for evolution and breeding |- - - - - - - - - ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Unlike the other sections that tell where to find Pokémon, this sectionlists items needed for evolution and breeding pre-evolutions. Some of them canbe hard to find, so I felt that in order to effectively show where and how toobtain all Pokémon, all steps that are not immediately obvious must beexplained.

Locations for items can include simply lying around, invisible on ground,a dust cloud in any cave (the same kind that hides Drilbur/Excadrill), a giftfrom an NPC, bought at a shop, collected randomly through the PickUp ability(which has different items available depending on the level of the Pokémon with

Page 95: Pokemon Black Version Location

the ability), or held by a wild Pokémon.

There is a treasure collector on Route 13 who will give you a random itemeach day, and many of these items are used for evolutions. There are also itemsthat can appear for purchase in Black City or randomly found in White Forest. These are tied to certain characters and their Pokémon, which are listed here.

This section now also contains locations for the items or otherrequirements for a Pokémon (usually a legendary) to change forms. If thisprevents any topics from being made on the boards, then my job has been done.

SECTION 7 _______________________________- - - - - - - - - - - - | Frequently Asked Questions | - - - - - - - - - - - - ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Now the list section of the guide is complete, and it's time for me toattempt to explain some of the more complex or at least poorly explained gamemechanics. Even if you're comfortable with the majority of the game, it's worthat least skimming through this section, because you just might learn something.

===============================================================================Q: What is the total number of Pokémon you can catch in one game without connecting to any other games or getting any from events?

A: This is a tricky question, because the White Forest is so unreliable and random, and the Dream World is in a gray area as far as isolation rules are concerned. But as it's not technically another game and you can collect more Pokémon from it without another DS or game, it should count. So here are my findings.

Page 100: Pokemon Black Version Location

Black: 332 Pokémon normally available, boosted to 534 with Dream World. White: 378* Pokémon normally available, boosted to 535* with Dream World.

* Because the White Forest is unpredictable, it's impossible to say what the exact maximum is for any given file. There are 33 Pokémon families potentially found there, and when you count evolutions (but not trade evolutions, since those would require a second game), it comes out to 92 White Forest "exclusives". If you happen to start the game with a maximum occupancy of 10 trainers, there is a very slim possibility that you'll get a distribution of Pokémon that includes all the families with split evolutions, none of the ones with trade evolutions, and you'll also be able to trigger all four water-dwelling Pokémon. If this does happen, then the highest number of additional Pokémon without a second game is 46, or 378 total. If you have an empty forest, then the maximum is the same as Black's - 332.

The Dream World covers the vast majority of the White Forest exclusives (all but the Porygon family, which evolves by trade twice, and therefore only counts as one Pokémon in isolation mode). So if you do happen to get Porygon in the White Forest, then your total with Dream World access would only increase by 1, since everything else is already covered.===============================================================================Q: How do I get special spots to appear?

A: The special spots (shaking grass, swirling dust, a whirlpool/dark water spot, or a bridge shadow) appear when you've taken a certain number of steps in the area. This number is probably randomized, because sometimes they will appear rather quickly, and sometimes it can take several minutes. The best thing to do is simply bike back and forth next to the grass, water's edge, etc, and wait for one to show up. You'll hear a sound when it does. If you're in a cave, it's best to put up Repels for obvious reasons.===============================================================================Q: I still can't get a special spot to appear.

A: Do you have the first badge? You can't get them until then. It's also possible that you already triggered another spot somewhere far away from where you're standing, but still within the same location. You can only have one special spot active in an area, and each type of spot will prevent others from appearing. (For example, if you want to find shaking grass, but you already have a whirlpool in the water, the grass won't shake until the whirlpool goes away.) Just trigger a battle or enter/exit a house or something to make it go away.===============================================================================Q: What is the best way to find evolution stones?

A: Unfortunately, stones are somewhat hard to come across in these games. The

Page 101: Pokemon Black Version Location

first thing you'll want to do is check your Black City or White Forest inhabitants with the item location list (Section 6), and see if you have any available there. White Forest items will appear in item balls on the ground daily, but there is no way to control which items will appear, or how many. That aside, the only real way to get them is to stock up on repels and bike around inside a cave, checking every dust swirl you find. You'll mostly find Drilbur or Excadrill and the various type-boosting Gems, but evolution stones will appear too.===============================================================================Q: How can I quickly raise happiness to evolve a Pokémon?

A: Vitamins (Protein, Iron, etc) will raise happiness a fair amount, but those are quite expensive. You can also use the EV-reducing Berries (Pomeg, Kelpsy, Qualot, Hondew, Grepa, and Tamato), but those are only found in the Dream World (Windswept Sky, to be specific), and you have to use quite a number of them before happiness is raised enough to evolve.

The best way that I've found is to simply level up a bunch of times. When I wanted to evolve Togepi, I gave it a Soothe Bell and took it to the Giant Chasm along with a couple Graveler. I found an Audino and sent out Togepi, then switched to the Graveler and attacked it a couple times, then used Self-Destruct. Because the Graveler fainted, all of the experience went to Togepi, and it gained over twenty levels at once, evolving immediately.

Catching these Pokémon with a Luxury Ball also helps. And if your Pokémon is already at too high of a level to gain any more quickly (or if you don't want to gain a bunch of levels at once), you can just bike around with it for around 10-20 thousand steps. With the Soothe Bell, of course.===============================================================================Q: When is the earliest I can trade?

A: Trading is available as soon as you get the first badge, and this applies to both local and wireless trades. It should also be noted that you can receive older-generation Pokémon at any time through trades, but transferring them yourself from Gen IV games isn't possible until you've beaten the game, aside from Celebi and the shiny Raikou, Entei, and Suicune you can send through the Relocator (explained in Zorua/Zoroark's details in section 4b).===============================================================================Q: Why am I unable to unlock Zorua or Zoroark?

A: There could be several reasons for this. The Celebi and shiny beasts can only be used to activate the event once. Not once per game, but once permanently. Trading an already-used Celebi/beast to another game will not activate it for that game... in fact, I'm not sure if it would work anyway. From what I've heard, they will only activate the event in the game they were first transferred to.

There are also rumors going around (even on Serebii.net) that ONLY the Relocator can be used, but apparently the Pokéshifter works just as well. If

Page 102: Pokemon Black Version Location

you're paranoid, just use the Relocator, but either should work.

Also, the Celebi/beast must be of the same language as the game it's being sent to. A Japanese Celebi will not activate the event on an English game, for instance. And if hacking was involved at any point, there's a chance of it not working if the correct flags were not added. Don't hack plz, kthx.===============================================================================Q: Briefly explain the Black City / White Forest.

A: These are version-exclusive areas that grow as you connect with other games. The Black City contains trainers with final evolutions of Pokémon that you can battle for money and exp, and there are also items that you can buy. The White Forest contains people who don't really do much, but their presence lets you find basic forms of Pokémon in the wild. Items will also appear randomly on the ground, but not in any sort of reliable fashion. There are 30 different trainers, and each can appear in either game, always being linked to one specific Pokémon family. For example, Schoolkid Leo will fight you with a Pidgeot in Black, and trigger wild Pidgey in White.===============================================================================Q: So... what determines which trainers I have in my Black City / White Forest?

A: As far as I'm aware, this is completely random, and is decided at the start of the game. I've heard that you always begin with ten trainers, but I've also heard that this number is random, so I'm not sure which it is. What I do know, however, is that the game starts counting days as soon as you start your file, and every day that passes will cause these trainers to lose 5 points. When they reach 0 points, they will leave.===============================================================================Q: What's this about points, now?

A: Every trainer has a predetermined number of points (usually 30 or 70), and when this number reaches 0, they will leave your area. You can see how many points everyone has on Serebii's page on this subject*. Everyone will lose 5 points for each day that passes without you entering the area, and will gain 3 if you visit. Plus, talking to the White Forest people will give them an extra 10 points per day, and battling the Black City people will add 7. You can manipulate these values to make some people leave, while keeping others. You can tell if a trainer is about to leave if they start talking about wanting to visit the other version's area, and in White, they will no longer mention a specific Pokémon.

* - http://serebii.net/blackwhite/blackcitywhiteforest.shtml===============================================================================Q: I've been visiting my Forest / City regularly, but everything is gone!

A: Maybe you messed with the DS clock, or put your game in a different system than usual. I'm not sure if this will instantly clear out your area, but

Page 103: Pokemon Black Version Location

it's generally not a good idea to do this. If you save within the area and then mess with the clock, the area will stay the way it was, but as soon as you leave and come back, it could be deserted. If this happens to you and you're positive that you didn't change the time or system, then I have no valid explanation, but I've seen it happen anyway.

On the flip side, you may have problems getting people to leave. If you have and area with the max of 10 people and you've waited a very long time without visiting, hoping for them to go away, you probably have a full "graveyard" (details on this are in a later answer). So try migrating a few of them out of your game and waiting one more day.===============================================================================Q: I don't have any water in my White Forest, what's that all about?

A: Honestly, I have no idea. Ponds are supposed to appear in the forest as it grows, much like more trees and grass patches appear. But sometimes it just won't give you any water at all, even if you've hit the maximum occupancy of ten trainers. You might be able to get some to appear if you have some of the people leave and then invite new ones, but I can't promise anything. The old man who requests to see Pokémon will still claim that you can find the water-dwellers, even if you have no water, so that's somewhat irritating.===============================================================================Q: How do I get more people to visit my Forest / City?

A: The short answer is that you have to connect to the opposite version using Entralink and talk to the other player's residents and see if they will come with you. You can have a maximum of ten trainers in your area, not counting the people indoors or the unnamed ones who don't do anything.

To be more specific, each game has a secondary version of the Forest/City that is only viewable through another player connecting to your game via Entralink. I refer to this grayscale version as the "graveyard". You begin the game with some people already in your graveyard, and these don't actually appear in the area that you can access yourself - they exist to be sent to someone else's game. When a person runs out of points, they will move to the graveyard, and then can be picked up by another player. Once they run out of points on that game, they will go into the graveyard again and can be picked up by anyone, including you.

Note that if a trainer migrates to another game, and the receiving game saves but the giving game does not, the trainer has effectively been cloned and now exists in both games. The reverse is also true - if the giving game saves and the receiving game does not, then neither game will have the trainer. Be careful when doing stuff like this if you don't want to lose access to certain Pokémon.

One last thing - I could be wrong, but I believe I've had experiences where a trainer in the graveyard refuses to migrate to my game despite there being plenty of room, and no duplicate copy of that person on my game. If this happens, I don't know how to fix it, because I don't understand why it

Page 104: Pokemon Black Version Location

occurred in the first place. All I can suggest is to try and clear up some more space.===============================================================================Q: OK, but how do I use the Entralink?

A: The Entralink is an area that is only reachable by tapping the Entralink button on the C-Gear's Wireless section. Once you warp there, there's not much you can do unless you're within close range of another player who also has their C-Gear turned on. They also must be in Nimbasa City or further (basically, the ring of cities and routes surrounding the Entralink). When you stand on either of the bridges in this area, the game will search for a game to connect to, and once it finds one, you walk through the barrier and can now visit the areas in their game. While here, you can complete missions or mess with the Black City / White Forest. I won't be explaining the missions here, because it has nothing to do with catching Pokémon, and that's the focus of this guide.===============================================================================Q: How do I get Pokémon from the Dream World?

A: First you'll need to register an account for the Pokémon Trainer Club on pokemon.com. This is free, and only requires an email address. Once you have this account and have activated it through your email, go to pokemon-gl.com (The Global Link website) and sign in, creating a new screen name specifically for the Global Link. Then you'll need to put a Pokémon to sleep in your game and you can proceed to the Dream World.===============================================================================Q: Put a Pokémon to sleep?

A: You do this by going to the C-Gear's only Online option, "Game Sync". If you have a working wi-fi connection, you can then send your save file to the Global Link website (which takes a few minutes), and it will ask if you want to tuck in a Pokémon. Select whatever you want, and after a few more minutes it will be sent to the Dream World. You are also given a game sync ID that you must enter on the Global Link website, so that it will know what file is linked to your account.===============================================================================Q: I still haven't done anything in the Dream World yet though.

A: Well, now you can, because it should be all set up. On the Global Link website, click the big button that says Pokémon Dream World, and assuming everything goes well, you'll be able to enter it. The Dream World is a Flash based, almost facebook-app-ish game that you can use to send items and Pokémon to your DS game. Fennel does a good enough job explaining everything in the tutorials, so hopefully I shouldn't have to reiterate that here. Just remember that you can only connect to the Dream World once per day (even if

you've registered both Black and White to the Global Link). And if you're having trouble connecting, the site might just be experiencing heavy traffic so you should try again a little while later, or wait another day. Also, you only get one hour in the Dream World per day, but this is plenty of time.===============================================================================Q: Explain the Island of Dreams a bit more.

A: You can access the Island of Dreams every day. While there, you explore an area for a total of ten screens until you reach the Tree of Dreams. Along the way, check for items (click sparkling areas) and wild Pokémon (click shaking stuff). Each Pokémon you find will want to play a minigame, and if you complete it (it's usually not very hard), it will wait for you at the Tree at the end. Once you reach the tree, you can choose to return home and go through the areas again to find more stuff. Eventually you'll stop finding anything, so offer a Berry to one of the Pokémon at the Tree, and it will be sent to your Friend Board and will appear in your game once you wake up.===============================================================================Q: How do I wake up and find my Pokémon?

A: This really should be explained in the tutorials, but fine. When you're done for the day, click the power button in the upper-right corner of the Dream World game (do not just close your browser), and then back in your DS game, select the Game Sync option again to get your sleeping Pokémon back. Anything you found during the visit will then appear in the Entree Forest in the Entralink, so warp there using the C-Gear, and you'll find the Pokémon wandering around (and can collect your items from the boy at the entrance). You can use any ball to capture your Pokémon, but they give you a Dream Ball for free. You can have up to 50 Pokémon in the forest before the game refuses to send any more, but once you catch them, you can continue to send more into it.===============================================================================Q: How do I visit other areas in the Island of Dreams?

A: The area that you are sent to is chosen at random, and you'll get more areas as you collect Dream Points. You get 50 points for simply singing on, 30 for accepting a Dream Pal, 20 for winning a minigame, and 10 for watering another player's berries. The Pleasant Forest, Spooky Manor, Rugged Mountain, Icy Cave, and Dream Park areas are all available from the beginning. Once you reach 2500 points and have at least 4 badges in your game, you can visit the Windswept Sky. 5000 points and all 8 badges gives you access to the Sparkling Sea. Getting 7500 and then 10000 points will also add new Pokémon and items to the areas.

Before the Icy Cave was added, the area that you are sent to used to be entirely random, but since that update, it is now influenced by the type of

Pokémon you put to sleep.

Pleasant Forest: Grass, Bug, Poison, Electric Windswept Sky: Flying Sparkling Sea: Water Spooky Manor: Psychic, Ghost, Dark Rugged Mountain: Fire, Fighting, Ground*, Rock*, Steel* Icy Cave: Ice, Ground*, Rock*, Steel* Dream Park: Normal No preference: Dragon

* - these types seem to like the Mountain and Cave equally. When a dual-typed Pokémon is put to sleep, it will generally prefer the locations for both of its types, but results may vary. (For example, all Flying types seem to prefer the Windswept Sky over what their other type prefers, probably because pure Flying types are very rare.)===============================================================================Q: Can you get any Gen 5 Pokémon from the Dream World?

A: In these games, no. When you connect to the Dream World with Black 2 or White 2, then there is a variety of Gen 5 Pokémon that can be found, but there is no way to access them in the originals. To counterbalance this, Black and White 1 have access to various Gen 1-4 Pokémon that are not found in the B2/W2 Dream World - mainly ones that are obtainable in Hidden Hollows, the Dream Radar, or given through in-game trades.===============================================================================
