Pokmon are strange and wondrous creatures whose lives are still largely shrouded in mystery. Though many Pokmon live out in fields or under the waves, there are still others who live together in partnership with humans. Nobody knows how many Pokmon there are in all, and new kinds are being discovered all the time.

To succeed in your adventure, you'll have to partner up with Pokmon and use their powers to help you. So get acquainted with the various ways to obtain Pokmon.

Wild Pokmon love nature, and their habitats include tall grass, caves, desert, wetlands, lakes, rivers, etc. Be sure to walk around when you come across such areas, and see what kinds of Pokmon you can find!How to obtain pokmonthese are major areas where you find pokmon

Most Pokmon inhabit places like fields, caves, and bodies of water. Go discover and catch them.

Catch wild pokmon

You can get Pokmon, Pokmon Eggs, and Pokmon Fossils as the story unfolds, so be sure to talk to townspeople.

A Pokmons HP is a measure of how tired it is. Once HP reaches zero, that Pokmon faints. When you try to catch a Pokmon, use moves to attack and lower HP as much as possible without making it faint. When the HP bar is red, it means that Pokmon is weak. Try throwing a Pok Ball!

Some Pokmon moves inflict status conditions on their targets (p. 32). A Pokmon saddled with a status condition, such as Poison or Paralysis, is easier to catch. Of the six status conditions, Sleep and Frozen are the most effective. Lower the target's HP and use status conditions to maximize your chances of success.

From the basic model to the Luxury Ball and Master Ball, there are 14 different kinds of Pok Balls, each specialized for a certain use. Always use a Pok Ball that's effective for the kind of Pokmon you want to catchit's a basic Pokmon-catching principle.

Wild Double Battles in the dark grass

Starting with route 3, you'll notice some dark grass here and there. in these areas, two wild pokmon can attack you at once. if you want to catch one of them, you have to defeat the other first.

You can't catch wild Pokmon without a Pok Ball. Even if you have one, Pokmon won't just hop into a Pok Ball. They can be hard to catch unless you tire them out first. Try these three tips!

Lowering a wild Pokmon's HP and using status conditions make it easier to catch Pokmon. A Watchog that knows Super Fang or Hypnosis can come in handy!

WatchogCatch a patrat on route 1 and raise it to Lv. 20 to evolve into Watchog. Watchog will learn mean Look at Lv. 36.

Pokmon can learn all kinds of moves, which are useful both in battle and on your adventure in general. There are more than 500 different moves, each with its own unique effects. If you put some thought into developing move sets, your Pokmon will stand out as an individual.

Take good care of a Pokmon, and it will reward you by growing. Some Pokmon evolve if they level up while they're on friendly terms with you.

Special stones, such as the Thunderstone or Leaf Stone, have the power to trigger Pokmon evolution instantly.

When your opponent has you in a tight spot, defense moves are a good idea. These moves can restore HP or cure status conditions. Some defense moves even leech an opponent's HP.

These moves strengthen the user or weaken an opponent. They can do anything from raising a Pokmon's stats to inflicting status conditions that gradually drain an opponent's HP.

These moves do damage by attacking the enemy. There are many variations on the basic attack move. Some moves also inflict status conditions.

How to teach new moves to pokmon

Pokmon can learn various moves at predetermined levels. Once they reach a certain level, they can learn the appropriate move.

Level them up

Each HM (Hidden Machine) is programmed with a special move (p. 27). An HM can teach that move to an unlimited number of Pokmon.

Use an Hm

A TM (Technical Machine) can teach a certain move to an unlimited number of Pokmon. You can use the same TM again and again on different Pokmon.

Use a tm

During your travels, you'll meet people who can teach moves to Pokmon. There are seven moves that can be learned this way.

Have an expert teach them

Each Pokmon species has various Abilities. For instance, Patrat can have the Run Away or Keen Eye Ability. Some Abilities take effect during battle, while other Abilities come in handy as you explore the region.

Friendship is the bond of affection and trust that can grow between a Pokmon and its Trainer. Keep a Pokmon happy and it will grow to like you, but a mistreated Pokmon will take a real dislike to you.

How to improve your friendship with your pokmon

After finishing the main story, you can visit areas that were inaccessible before in places such as Route 13 and Undella Town. You'll find Pokmon from other regions in those new areas. You can even catch Dragonite, Tyranitar, and Milotic, which were not available in the wild in previous titlesthe only way to obtain them was through evolution!

Types interact like a big game of rock-paper-scissors. For instance, Water is strong against Fire, but weak against Grass. If the attacking Pokmon's move type is strong against the defending Pokmon's type, the move does increased damage.

Under the right conditions, your moves will do at least 50% more damage than usual. If you can keep dishing out that kind of damage, victory is sure to be within your reach. Several factors determine these increases in attack damage, but the three major ones are listed below.

Moves belong to one of three kindsphysical, special, or status. There's an important connection between these kinds of moves and a Pokmon's stats. For instance, a Pokmon with high Attack will do the most damage if it uses physical moves.

Physical moves are ones like Retaliate and Low Sweep. Most of these moves make direct contact with the opponent.

Pokmon can be affected by status conditions such as Sleep, Poison, or Paralysis. These conditions can immobilize a Pokmon or eat away at its HP. Hit the other Pokmon with moves that inflict status conditions, and you'll turn the tide of battle.

Every Pokmon type has its weaknesses. If you fill your team with just one type, then it only takes one supereffective move type to put your entire party at risk. Instead, try building a team with Pokmon whose strengths and weaknesses cover for each other, allowing you to take on any Pokmon you encounter.

Snivy is weak against Fire-type moves. That's why you want Panpour, a Pokmon who's strong against Fire-type Pokmon. However, Panpour is weak against Electric-type Pokmon, so add Sandile for its advantage over Electric types. Water types that have the upper hand against Sandile are at a disadvantage against Snivy.

pansage, pansear, and panpour can be quite helpfulThe Pansage, Pansear, or Panpour you receive in the Dreamyard can be quite a helpful addition to your party. It would be a waste to stop training them after your Striaton City Gym battle. These three evolve with special stones, but they won't learn moves by leveling up once they are evolved. You should let them learn useful moves before they evolve.

These moves are especially useful for Pansage. Leech Seed is a move that plants a seed on the target to steal some HP every turn. SolarBeam is another move to turn to, as it is one of the strongest Grass-type moves. Its power is as high as 120. Usually, SolarBeam requires an extra turn to charge up, but if the weather is Sunny, it can be used immediately.

Tap "POKMON" on the menu to see a list of your current party Pokmon. You can also view more info about your Pokmon or use field moves, such as Fly or Flash. To use these field moves, just select a Pokmon, then the move.
