PointSpan 2.0 Functions
Table 7. PointSpan 2.0 Function Descriptions provides the functional descriptions for the PointSpan 2.0 release.
Table 7. PointSpan 2.0 Function Descriptions Functions Included Description Agent Wrap by Call Type
Implemented in PointSpan 2.0, wrap up is an ACD agent state that allows agents time to complete ACD work related to calls once they complete them. This enhancement allows assignment of wrap up time based on: • Destination pilot for ACD calls • Answering agent groups for ACD calls • Inbound calls to ACD agents • Outbound calls from ACD agents
This function also provides allowances for agents to be given different wrap up times based on the types of calls handled.
Analog Caller ID Type 1
Originally implemented in PointSpan 1.1 then migrated to the PointSpan 2.0 release, Class Type I Analog Caller Number Delivery is the first Class offering on this companys product. It is ONLY available on PointSpan starting with this version. The application also requires: • An IVC card to support the Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) • A modem protocol, used to transmit the calling party identification
(CPID) date and time to an analog display phone
The calling partys delivered number is a seven-digit NNP directory number or the number provided by the public network. This feature, not part of the standard PointSpan feature set (optional), allows customers to purchase it separately. Type 1 CPID is only available to a station that is idle or on hook.
Higher Education / Medical Analog telephones users can now have caller ID. Campuses can sell caller ID features to students on campus
Call Cleared Event Implemented in PointSpan 2.0, this fixes the Call-Cleared Event. Originally, the system did not clear calls and caused some ACD call reporting errors.
The system sends the Call Cleared Event when the final remaining party disconnects from a call. When this last party disconnects from the call then the system sends a Call Cleared Event with the Call ID and cause for the clearing call. Vertical customers affected by this function include call and contact centers. This function clears up reporting mismatch issues.
CallNet ANI/ CID Enhancement
Implemented initially in PointSpan 1.1 then migrated into PointSpan 2.0, this feature allows calls within an ACD environment to be routed to off-switch agents. Additionally, the status of these agents, such as Longest Time Idle, is available to the switch.

Functions Included Description
Database Facility Expansion
Implemented in PointSpan 2.0, the MCU Database Expansion function allows the PointSpan switch to grow to support very large customers. Those customers often want to control entire enterprises from a single location to economize scale and reduce support costs. A larger PointSpan switch would provide such single point of control.
A prime-limiting factor expanding the PointSpan switch relates to the number of facilities that the switch can possibly support. The number of facilities limits the number of phones, trunks, and other devices that may be attached to the switch because each device uses one or more facilities.
Additionally, other MCU database fields must expand as a switch grows in size.
Some customers requested expanded specific MCU database fields, such as the maximum length of Directory Numbers, to meet business needs. This function expands fields needed for a larger switch and completes the expansion of some customer-requested fields.
DIRN Expansion NNP Alternative
Originally implemented in PointSpan 1.1 then migrated to the PointSpan 2.0 release, this capability: • Uses NNPs to simulate long directory numbers • Supports more digits for directory numbers (DIRNs) by using
enhanced function NNPs instead of imposing the 5- digit directory number limitation
DTI/MSF on IVC Implemented in PointSpan 2.0, the functionality of the IMSF provides integrated voice control (IVC) card capabilities and combines the capabilities of the multi-service function (MSF) card as well. In this function, the IMSF provides a direct replacement for the multi-service function (MSF) card and supports all MSF card functionality. This functionality includes: • Tone generation • DTMF/MF tone detections • Annunciator support • Energy detection • Conference bridge support • Call progress tone detection
The IMSF card is an IVC card configured as an MSF and loaded with an application(s) that supports the various MSF functions. In addition the IMSF card is also a replacement for the Diagnostic Test Interface (DTI) card. The IMSF card has a single DTI circuit using the standard MSF template or the DTI template.
When the architects of the card use the DTI template to build the card, it has no MSF functionality on it.

Functions Included Description
The DTI circuit on the IMSF performs the functions of circuits on a DTI. The DTI circuit on an IMSF card does not support all functionality of a DTI card circuit. The DTI circuit on an IMSF card does support the following diagnostics:
• ITE Loop Back • STE Loop Back • Trunk Receive Level
• Trunk Silence Level • ITE Gate Array Loop Back • Trunk Echo Return Loss
E-911 Transfer Enhancement
Originally implemented in PointSpan 1.1 and migrated to the PointSpan 2.0 release, this function occurs normally when users transfer a call to an outside trunk and send the Calling Party Number (CPN) of the transferring party out. When users enable this feature and transfer an Emergency call to an outside trunk, they send the CPN of the transferred party out instead of the CPN of the transferring party. This occurs for both supervised and unsupervised transfers.
This feature sends the CPN of the transferred party to the outside trunk when the following conditions are true: • The call being transferred is an Emergency call • The Class of Service of the destination party of the Emergency call has
this feature enabled • The transferring party is the destination party of the Emergency call
The system defines an emergency call as a 911 call, 1-911, or a call made to an Emergency Directory Number defined in the system.
Use this feature in environments where emergency calls that originate on the PointSpan system are routed to an emergency operator destination also resident on the system. As the on-switch, emergency operators process a call they will encounter times where they must transfer the 911 call to the local government PSAP center. When that situation exists, the government 911 operator receives the CPN for the party requiring help, not the CPN of the 911 operator who transferred the call.
E911 Physical Address Resolution
Implemented in PointSpan 2.0, this resolution effort allows the use of a dialable number, different from the extension number, for multi DIRN appearance. It vertically affects all existing installations. It benefits customers with safety in that it supports the E-911 capability required in many states to be able to distinctly identify the location of a 911 call.
Event Conclusive End of Call
Implemented in PointSpan 2.0, the OAI Call Cleared event indicates that the call clears the system. The system sends this event when the last remaining party disconnects from a call. The system sends the Call Cleared event after all Connection Cleared events are sent.
The OAI Call Cleared event contains the call ID of the cleared call and includes a cause value. Frequently used cause values are: • Last party exited call (cause class 01 cause value 48) • Call ID audit (cause class 01 cause value 49)

Functions Included Description
IVS Port Sharing Implemented in PointSpan 2.0, integrated voice support (IVS) port sharing on integrated voice control (IVC): • Uses a single IVS port to play the IVS message to all calls that
requested the same IVS message when the system reaches the end of the delay time or the specified number of calls
• Allows users to configure the speak phrases, speak data, announcement pause, and in agent whisper sharing delay time and the maximum number of calls in the IVS group using the GRPS command
The PointSpan server platform is an evolutionary outgrowth of the Millennium server with features including: • Providing disaster tolerance by server separation • Allowing Multiple server/survivable IP distribution nodes • Equaling or exceeding the M-Server 500,000 BHCC and 3,000,000
CTI messages (on local private network with no network induced delay)
• Increasing the size of the RAM for future software releases • Increasing the speed of the processor over the M-Server • Adding a DVD drive to replace the M-Server DAT tape drive to
increase reliability of backup and software distribution media (allows CD-ROM software distribution)
• Upgrading to three 10 base T/100 base T Ethernet NICs to allow systems to migrate to the 100 Mg Ethernet speeds
• Replacing the M-Server in production to avoid obsolescence issues. • Making software configurable for ECS, NCS, and RCS applications in
simplex or redundant installations
E21 to PointSpan Retrofit
This PointSpan retrofit allows users to convert the Intecom E-21 in any of the three configurations (Cabinet, 30 Rack with UTI, or Millennium) from three partitions with a single control point to three IP Nodes. This vertically affects Intecom E-21 customers migrating to PointSpan. Customers benefit by now assuming a low risk to migrate to PointSpan while keeping the HIB web stable for voice connectivity.
RFE Relational Front End
Implemented in PointSpan 2.0, the relational front end RFE provides standard ODBC / SQL connectivity between: • The proprietary database • Popular standards-based business reporting and analysis tools • Open programmatic interfaces • Speak phrases • Speak data • Announcement pause • Agent whisper such as Visual Basic
RFE frees third-party interface products such as PointSpan Configuration Manager or PSCM (formerly IQ Admin) from maintenance intensive, slow

Functions Included Description screen- scraping as a means of extracting and updating the database. It also supplies the database access necessary to support the overall Single Point Entry (SPE) capability.
T1 DTE Time Zone Implemented in PointSpan 2.0, the function for setting the DTE time zone applies to the fact that distributed T1-connected ITEs may be in different time zones from the switching partition. As a result, the time these ITEs display does not reflect the correct time. This feature allows the application to save the time zone of the T1 Distributed ITE card in the database and use it in the time display.

Functions Included Description
IP Interconnect (IP RSP Link) Implemented in PointSpan 1.0, this function establishes a line card to extend the PointSpan distribution feature with IP voice connections on a 72 port IP Line Card (IPI Card). The IPI card has three times the capacity of the typical IP gateway product on the market today at about the cost of the T1 card required to connect to the gateway. This further reduces the cost of ownership of an EADS TELECOM North America switching system. The IP RSP links function: • Establishes point-to-point IXL RSP link alternative over IP • Is based on the existing control bus slave generic interface to the
Intecom E system, and the associated MCU handling of IXL line card devices
• Is implemented using the newly designed IPI line card • Provides an IPI card design overview in Figure 1. • Has objectives that provide:
− A simple voice distribution over Ethernet and quick deployment − Voice compression capabilities to the EADS TELECOM North
America product line through the Ethernet interface • Provides a foundation for future enhancements to the distribution
function and to other future developments involving voice over IP (VOIP)
IP Voice Transport Implemented as a part of PointSpan 1.0, the PointSpan IP transport function allows IP voice connections between distributed nodes.
NCS the PointSpan Server Implemented in PointSpan 1.0, the PointSpan Nodal Control Server (NCS) is co-located with IP Nodes and Remote Telephony Nodes. An NCS is a full-featured telephony server capable of operating its node as a separate, stand alone telephony system if the link to the ECS fails. A Remote Telephony Node represents a portion of the communications system that is isolated from the ECS high bandwidth LAN.
PointSpan Server Developers configured the PointSpan server in PointSpan 1.0 and the server had 3 application modes: • Allow distribution of the communications system control • Provide fault tolerance and disaster survivability • Use the same basic system hardware with software adjustments to
optimize performance in the specific application
RCS the PointSpan Server Implemented in PointSpan 1.0, the PointSpan Remote Control Server (RCS) can also be one of the server configurations. The RCS controls co-located Remote Telephony Nodes and is similar to the EADS TELECOM North America Remote Switching Partition. The RCS, by location, does not have the bandwidth to control the entire system.
RTN Control from Different IPNs
Implemented in PointSpan 1.0, users can convert a T1 distributed RTN to an IP distributed IPN. The commands they use reconfigure the ASP database for a specified RTN partition to make it an IPN partition. The command does not reconfigure any of the OS configuration files. Users

Analog Caller ID Type 2
Type 2 Analog Calling Number Delivery provides the date, time, and the name and number of the calling party to a destination STE station on the PointSpan system. The delivered calling party number is a directory number, a seven-digit NNP number, or the number provided by the public network. Users can find the calling party name delivered for calls internal to the switch in the Directory Lookup System. The calling party name delivered for external calls comes from the network and is associated with the number in the directory listing. Type 1 Analog Calling Number Delivery provides only a subset of date, time, and the calling party number.
Type 2 Analog Calling Number Delivery transmits the calling party name and number when the destination STE station is in an idle on-hook condition. and during a Call Waiting, Caller ID name and number delivery scenario. Type 2 Analog Calling Number Delivery is a CLASS Services feature that allows a user to receive Name and Number information from both internal and external callers if this information is available.
For the calling party name and number to be transmitted, the STE station must be enabled for Type 2 Calling Number Delivery in the PointSpan database.
Type 2 Analog Calling Number Delivery permits a called party to be more informed about the caller by providing numbers and names with incoming calls.
Type 2 Analog Calling Number Delivery applies on an individual station basis through the FONE parameter CID option.
The calling number delivery information exists in the Multiple Data Message Format (MDMF) as defined in TR-NWT-000031 Issue 4, December 1992 Class Feature: Calling Number Delivery.
Program this feature per LSSGR FSD 01-02-1070, TR-NWT-001188, and GR-30-CORE.
Analog Caller ID Type 2 Configuration
The Type 2 Analog Calling Number Delivery (Call Waiting with Name and Number) is an optional CLASS Services feature. This feature is available to systems running the PointSpan software load 3.0 and higher and is a purchasable option.
Enable the Type 2 Analog Calling Number Delivery (Call Waiting with Name and Number) feature through the FONE command parameter field CID. All phone lines that have this CID field set will have Type 2 Analog Calling Number Delivery enabled. The decision to use Type 1 or Type 2 Analog Calling Number Delivery is based on which PointSpan software load is currently in use. All PointSpan software loads 3.0 and higher will provide Type 2 Analog Calling Number Delivery.
PointSpan 3.0 supports both Type 1 Analog Calling Number Delivery and Type 2 Analog Calling Number Delivery (Call Waiting with Name and Number) features. Customers

may have either the Type I or Type 2 Calling Number Delivery feature depending on the PointSpan software load they currently run.
Analog Caller ID Type 2 Operation
The system supports type 2 Analog Calling Number Delivery on analog telephones. Users may apply the activation of this feature on an individual station basis.
Type 2 Analog Calling Number Delivery, a PointSpan 3.0 feature, uses the IVC card configured with a Frequency Shift Keying Interface (FSK) application. The FSK application transmits the calling number information to the destination STE station using FSK signaling. The FSK IVC is a shared resource in the PointSpan system. Users assign each port on the FSK IVC to an FSK Group (FSKG). Each switching partition requiring Calling Number Delivery is assigned a FSK Group using the SPAR command. All ports in a partitions assigned FSK group must be equipped in the partition. The Calling Number information is transmitted to an STE station using an FSK circuit from the FSK group assigned to the partition of the destination STE.
Since Type 2 Analog Calling Number Delivery provides presentation of the Calling Number information for an off-hook Call Waiting scenario, the two applicable Calling Number Delivery sequences follow.
1. When a call is destined for an on-hook STE station enabled for Calling Number Delivery the following actions occur:
Table 11. Analog Caller ID Call Processing for On-Hook STE Station
Step Action
1. Call Processing acquires a FSK port from the FSKG group assigned to the destination switching partition of the call.
2. Call Processing sends the calling number information to the acquired FSK port where it is prepared for transmission to the destination STE port.
3. Call Processing connects the destination STE port to the FSK port.
4. Call Processing tells the STE station to ring.
5. After the first ring of the STE station completes, the system tells the FSK port to transmit the calling number information it previously received.
6. When the FSK port completes transmission of the calling number information it informs Call Processing that the transmission completed.
7. Call Processing disconnects the FSK port from the STE station and makes the FSK port available for use by another call.

2. When a call is destined for an off-hook (Call Active) STE station enabled for Calling Number Delivery the following actions occur:
Table 12. Analog Caller ID Call Processing for Off-Hook (Active) STE Station
Step Action
1. Call Processing acquires a FSK port from the FSKG group assigned to the destination switching partition of the call.
2. A single Call Waiting Tone is played to the ear of the destination STE station.
3. The calling party name and number information is sent from Call Processing to the acquired FSK port where it is prepared for transmission to the destination STE port.
4. The system breaks the connection for the ear of the destination STE port and Call Processing connects the ear of the destination STE port to the FSK port.
5. The system tells the FSK port to transmit the calling party name and number information it previously received.
6. When the FSK port completes transmission of the calling party name and number information, it informs Call Processing that transmission completed.
7. Call Processing disconnects the FSK port from the STE station and makes the FSK port available for use by another call.
8. Call Processing reconnects the ear of the destination STE station to the other party that was previously connected.
Each calling number transmission requires the use of a FSK port for approximately 3 seconds.
The format of the delivered calling party number depends on the type of call and the user group database. The system displays a directory number for internal calls when one of the following conditions is true:
• The call originated from a directory number that is in the same user group as the destination directory number.
• The call originated from a directory number whose user group shares the same directory number allocation with the originating directory numbers user group.
A seven-digit NNP number displays for internal calls if all of the following conditions are true:
• The originator and destination are on the same switch and,
• The originating and destination directory numbers are in different user groups and,
• The originating and destination user groups do not share the same directory number allocation.
MMMM
MMMM
PointSpan Features and Enhancements
EADS TELECOM North America - 2536-001 31
When an off-switch call is received then the calling party number received from the public network is displayed if one is available.
The format of the calling party name that is delivered, if one is available, is dependant on the type of call.
• For internal calls, a name displays if one is available in the Directory Lookup System.
• When the system receives an off-switch call, the calling party name received from the public network displays.
Analog Caller ID Type 2 Operation and Relationship to Digital ITE Stations
The Type 2 Analog Calling Number Delivery feature exists independently of the Calling Party Number delivery feature for Digital ITE Stations. However, when Type 2 Analog Calling Number delivery is available, users receive the additional Calling Party NAME (when provided) OR the already available NUMBER for Digital ITE Stations.
The implementation of the additional Calling Party Name Delivery for Digital ITE stations requires using the ITE DISPLAY button. The ITE DISPLAY button permits the system to provide either the Calling Party Name or the Calling Party Number, but not both, in a single display. The previous functionality of the ITE DISPLAY button, now permanently altered, provides this new feature. Obviously, an ITE station must be equipped with a DISPLAY button in their button template to perform the new feature.
The DISPLAY button operates as a toggle of the Calling Party Name and Calling Party Number Delivery for Digital ITE stations in certain scenarios. While on-hook, the DISPLAY button provides access to system parameters and settings as in the past. However, for a ringing incoming call, the function of the DISPLAY button changes. The ITE station has a preset default established using the Man Machine LINE command to force the station to display the Calling Party Name or Calling Party Number first. So, for an on-hook and ringing incoming ITE call, the preset default Name or Number displays first, and then the DISPLAY button for the ITE station toggles the display back and forth between the presentation of Calling Party Name and Calling Party Number information. Each press of the DISPLAY button flips the displayed information from Calling Party Name to Calling Party Number and back again. The DISPLAY button also operates in this toggle fashion for off-hook situations with and without a call waiting call present.
The contents of the Calling Party Name or Calling Party Number delivered differs from one system to another. Some system trunk groups exist so they use an incoming call message when the Calling Party information is not present. Thus when a trunk call originates on a system using a trunk group with incoming call messages, and the Calling Party Name or Calling Party Number information is not provided, the system instead displays the incoming call message data. For example, the incoming call message display could be Dept XYZ For Bob Smith. An exception to this rule occurs when a trunk call originates on a system using a trunk group with incoming call messages and the system blocks the Calling Party Name or Calling Party Number
MMMM MMMM
Chapter 2. CLASS Services Feature Set One
32 EADS TELECOM North America - 2536-001
information. In the blocked scenario, the system displays PRIVATE instead of the incoming call message data.
For systems that DO NOT use an incoming call message, two scenarios exist.
1. If the Calling Party Name or Calling Party Number is blocked, PRIVATE displays.
2. If the Calling Party Name or Calling Party Number information is not available, then UNAVAILABLE displays.
PRI Outbound Transmission of Calling Party Name Information The system supports transmitting Calling Party Name Outbound for PRI trunks on the Dual Span PRI line card only. Single span PRI cards do not support the Calling Party Name Outbound. The Calling Party Name directly associates with the Calling Party Number used. The system default for Calling Party Name exists as it does today for Calling Party Number. If users accept the system default for Calling Party Number and use it for PRI trunk transmission outbound, then the system also uses the default for Calling Party Name if it is available. For cases where the system provides the Calling Party Number from the User Group Calling Party Number parameter 1-4, a new Calling Party Name parameter 1-4 becomes directly associated with the Calling Party Number entry. For cases where the system uses the DIRN-specific Calling Party Number from the directory lookup system, the Calling Party Name also comes from directory lookup if it is available. If there is NO Calling Party Number available, NO Calling Party Name transmits.
Analog Caller ID Type 2 Hardware / Software Requirements
The Analog Calling Number Delivery feature requires the following hardware/software:
• An IVC card configured with the Voiceband Data Transmission Interface (FSK) application.
• An STE-24 card, STE-36 card, or SASI card (the OPX card does not support this feature).
• A Caller ID enabled STE telephone or other Caller ID device.
• A PointSpan Server software release 3.0 or later.
The Type 1 Analog Calling Number Delivery feature required the same hardware/software listed above, but was available in PointSpan software release 1.1 and PRE PointSpan software release 3.0.
System Hardware Configuration Required for Calling Number Delivery
The FSK IVC card supports from 1 to 72 FSK ports used to transmit the calling number information. All ports of an IVC card configured with the FSK application must be assigned to the same FSK group. The IVC cannot support different applications simultaneously with the FSK application. The FSK IVC card can be configured in any

card slot in the PointSpan system with the exception of slot 16 of a Fiber Distributed Interface Unit.
Each switching partition in the PointSpan system references one and only one FSK group to be used for transmitting the calling number information to any devices within the partition.
Each switching partition equipped with Caller ID devices must have FSK IVC card(s) equipped in the partition. The ports on FSK cards cannot be shared between partitions.
System Database Configuration Required for Calling Number Delivery
Users must configure the following in the database to enable the operation of Type 2 Analog Calling Number Delivery:
• Create an FSK group (FSKG) using the GRPS command.
• Assign an FSK group to the appropriate partition using the SPAR command.
• Create an IVC card with the FSK application using the CARD command and assign all circuits on the card to the appropriate FSK group.
• Enable calling party name and number delivery on the desired STE station using the FONE command.
Analog Caller ID Type 2 Maintenance and Reporting
The system supports FSK port utilization reporting by the TUTL command using an Administrative Software Package (ASP) terminal. It also supports the FSK group idle chain repair and audit by the UTIL;CHN command using an Administrative Software Package terminal.
Analog Caller ID Limitations and Restrictions
The following limitations and restrictions apply to analog caller ID type 2 on this system:
• Unsupported on the OPX card or T1 trunks configured as OPX stations.
• Unsupported Visual Message Waiting Indicator feature as specified in Bellcore specification TR-NWT-001401. Some Caller ID equipped telephones also come equipped with VMWI. If VMWI is implemented on the phone using MDMF voice band signaling, VMWI will not function.
• IVC card is not equipped in slot 16 of a Fiber Distributed Interface Unit.
• The FSK IVC exists as a shared resource. Therefore, the possibility exists for no FSK circuits to be available when a Caller ID equipped STE receives a call. When this occurs, no calling party name or number information is transmitted to the STE.
• Does not share the ports on a FSK IVC card between partitions.

calls and they should remove blocking and call back. The called partys phone does not ring. All other calls ring through as usual. The activation code for this feature is *77; the deactivation code is *87.
• The user can activate the Anonymous Call Rejection feature by dialing the feature code *77.
• The Anonymous Call Rejection feature can be deactivated by dialing the deactivation code *87.
Program this feature per LSSGR FSD 01-02-1260 and GR-657-CORE. Design this feature to fulfill the requirements detailed in the product requirements document for CLASS Services Feature Set One.
The implementation of the *77 and *87 feature code affects the operation of the *7 feature code (Call Pickup) and *8 feature code (ACD wrap up). Due to the fact that there is now a possible second digit that can follow *7 or *8, inter-digit timing occurs to wait for the possible second digit following the dialing of *7 or *8. Now users experience a delay in answering the call after dialing *7 to access the Call Pickup feature or exiting wrap up after dialing *8. Use the inter-digit timing from the user group parameter for Fast Inter-digit Timing (UGRP;UGP:FIT). The user can dial *7# or *8# to eliminate the delay.
Configure Anonymous Call Rejection
Anonymous Call Rejection constitutes CLASS Services Feature Set One. Enable it using the CLOS command. Anonymous Call Rejection is supported on analog and digital telephones (ITE and STE). The Anonymous Call Rejection feature requires an IVC card running the Integrated Voice Services (IVS) software application to support this CLASS Services feature. The system speaks voice prompts when *77 and *87 processes. The system also speaks a phrase when a call is rejected.
Configure the IVS application to support this feature as described in Table 13.

Call Forward The CLASS Service Call Forward feature allows users set up the ability to forward calls to a designated destination number. Activate this feature by dialing the activation code 72#. Once activated, all calls to the DIRN that has the CLASS Service Call Forward feature activated are forwarded to the user-specified number. To deactivate the CLASS Service Call Forward feature, enter the deactivation code 73#. CLASS Service Call Forward differs from the standard Call Forward feature in the way it is activated and deactivated.
Call Forward Configuration Enable Call Forward in the Class of Service (CLOS) command.
Call Forward Operation
CLASS Service Call Forward feature forwards all calls to a destination number established by the users once they activate the feature. To activate and deactivate the Call Forward feature use the CLASS Service activation methods described in Table 15 and the procedure specified in the section labeled Deactivate CLASS Service Call Forward.
Activate CLASS Service Call Forward
To activate Call Forward follow the steps detailed in Table 15.
Table 15. Call Forward Activation Procedure
Step Action Result
1. Lift handset and dial 72# Zip tone plays to prompt for the forward destination number
2. Enter the destination number If the forward destination number is a toll call or outside the defined calling area, as defined by the users normal restrictions, the system treats this call the same as it treats normal station restrictions
3. Provide authorization
Customer may insert the authorization to support normal call restrictions
Zip-zip tone plays if authorization is valid

Deactivate Call Forward To deactivate CLASS Service Call Forward:
• Lift handset
• Dial 73#
• Zip-zip tone is plays and the feature becomes deactivated.
Call Forward Restrictions and Limitations For the CLASS Service Call Forward activation process to work, several restrictions in the user group setting must be satisfied:
• FDD: Define digit 7 as a dialing level that requires accepting at least 3 digits input.
• If digit 7 is defined as Two Digit Disposition dialing, users must define the 72 and 73 as dialing levels that require accepting at least 3 digits input.
• If digit 7 is defined as Numeric Feature Code dialing level for up to at least 3 digits, 72# and 73# take priority over Feature Code 72 and 73.
• If users define digit 7 as Directory Number with variable length, and 72 or 73 as a valid directory number, the system treats 72# and 73# as directory number.
• Users must NOT define 7, 72, and 73 as Invalid, Dialing Blocked (INVD).
Selective Call Forwarding (SCF)
Selective Call Forwarding (SCF) is an incoming call management feature allowing customers to define a special list of incoming telephone numbers to be forwarded to a remote destination. This feature forwards incoming calls to the designated remote station based on the directory numbers in the users Selective Call Forwarding list. Users can assign no more than eight forwarded numbers per directory number. Selective Call Forwarding exists when a user receives a call from someone whose telephone number is programmed into the users Selective Call Forwarding screening list. Subscribers have the ability to control their directory list of forwarded directory numbers.
The PointSpan system has several other call forwarding services available such as Call Forward All, Call Forward Busy, Call Forward No Answer, etc. When users activate Selective Call Forward for a voice line it takes precedence over all other call forwarding services.
Dial *63 to access selective Call Forwarding.

Implementing the *63 feature code may affect the operation of the *6 feature code (Do Not Disturb). Since a second digit following the *6 is now possible, the system allows inter-digit timing to wait for the possible second digit following the dialing of *6. Users experience a delay before receiving the confirmation tone after dialing *6 to turn on Do Not Disturb. The inter-digit timing used is from the user group parameter for Fast Inter-digit Timing (UGRP;UGP:FIT). Users may dial *6# to eliminate the delay.
Users can access the Selective Call Forwarding feature remotely by using the Remote Access feature. To access SCF remotely, users must dial the Remote Access feature DIRN and enter the directory number of the voice line for SCF access and the Personal Identification Number (PIN) for the desired voice line. After the system verifies the directory number and PIN, users can then dial *63 to access SCF for the specified directory number.
Selective Call Forward Configuration Systems running the PointSpan software load 3.0 and higher make the Selective Call Forwarding feature available as a purchasable option included in CLASS Services Feature Set One. Enable the Selective Call Forwarding feature in the Class of Service of the desired voice line. All phone lines that have this Class of Service field set enable this feature.
The Selective Call Forwarding feature requires an IVC card running the Integrated Voice Services (IVS) software application. To configure the IVS application to support this feature perform the following:
• Users must assign the IVS group for each partition that has stations using the CLASS Service features. To do this, update the CIG field under the SPAR for the desired partition number.
• Users must assign the User Group for each user of Selective Call Forwarding an IVS phrase group number to use for the required IVS phrases. To do this, update the CPG field under the UGRP;UGP command.
• Users must record the required phrases of the CLASS Service Selective Call Forwarding using the correct phrase ID as listed in Table 16 and assigned them to the phrase group designated in the User Group.

Selective Call Forward Operation
Selective Call Forwarding support exists on both digital and analog telephones. Access Selective Call Forwarding on a per voice line basis. Users may access Selective Call Forwarding for a voice line in 2 ways:
1. Going off-hook on the desired voice line and dialing *63.
2. Dialing a Remote Access feature directory number and entering the desired voice lines directory number, PIN, and then dialing the *63 feature code.
Selective Call Forwarding allows users to forward incoming calls from specific numbers compiled by the user to a destination specified for Selective Call Forwarding. Users can

store a maximum ten numbers in the SCF list per directory number. Each number in the list can be a maximum of 10 digits in length.
Receive a call when SCF Active
When a call arrives at a voice line that has Selective Call Forwarding activated, the PointSpan system acquires the number of the calling party and compares it to the SCF list for the destination voice line.
• If the calling partys number does not appear in the SCF list for the destination voice line, the call terminates at the destination voice line. In other words, the normal ringing process, call waiting process, and/or other call forwarding services occur).
• If the calling partys number does appear in the SCF list for the destination voice line, the destination station receives a reminder ring (one short ring) and the call immediately forwards to the SCF destination specified by the users when they activated SCF. Users cannot answer the call at the forwarding station when SCF is active.
The PointSpan system has several other call forwarding services available such as:
• Call Forward All
• Call Forward Busy
• Call Forward No Answer
When Selective Call Forward is activated for a voice line it takes precedence over all other call forwarding services.
• If Selective Call Forwarding is active with any other call forwarding service and if the calling party number is on the selective call forward list, the incoming call forwards to the destination specified for selective call forwarding.
• If the incoming calling party number is not on the SCF list, the call routes to the appropriate call forward destination.
Access Selective Call Forwarding
Access this feature by dialing the key sequence *63. If the users Class of Service does not allow access to Selective Call Forwarding, the system plays the reorder tone.
When users access Selective Call Forwarding by dialing *63, they hear announcements providing the following information:
• The current status of SCF (active or inactive).
If SCF is active then the user hears Selective Call Forwarding is on
If SCF is inactive then the user hears Selective Call Forwarding is off
• The current size of the users SCF list.

Change the Call Forward Destination You can change the Selective Call Forwarding destination number using 2 different actions:
1. When you dial *63 dialed and SCF is active.
2. When you press 3 to activate SCF.
In both cases, you hear a prompt informing you of the current SCF destination number for the voice line and asking you to confirm this destination number by pressing 1 or to change the number by pressing 0.
When you press 1 to confirm the destination number, you hear the next set of prompts appropriate based on whether you just dialed *63 or pressed 3 to activate SCF.
When you press 0 to change the SCF forward destination, the system prompts you to enter a destination number followed by the pound (#) key. When you enter the forward destination, you must dial the number as you normally would including any access codes (such as dialing 9 to get outside), account codes, authorization codes, inter-LATA carrier codes (10XXX), etc. If during the dialing of the destination number you realize that you entered an incorrect digit, you can press the star key ( *) to clear the dialed digits. When you press the star key, the system clears the digits and you return to the main menu.
The system verifies your destination number to insure that it is a valid call forward destination. The system then validates the destination number against the voice lines User Group and Class of Service to verify:

When you enter a specific number to be added to the list, the system speaks an announcement indicating the number added to the list. You can enter a number from 1 to 10 digits in length to the list. The system does not validate the number you entered and enters it into the SCF list as dialed. If you entered a number in error, you must remove the number from the list by returning to the main menu and selecting the option to remove a number from the list. If during the dialing of a number you realize you entered an incorrect digit, you can press the star key ( *) to clear the dialed digits. When you press the star key, the system clears the digits and returns you to the main menu.
When you dial 01# to add the number of the last calling party, the system checks to see if the number of the last calling party is available. If the number is not available then an announcement plays indicating that the number of the last caller is not available. If the number is available but marked as private when it was received, the system adds the number to the list. Since private numbers cannot be announced, an announcement indicates that a private number is added to the list. If the number is available and not private then the system announces the number added to the list.
The following represents an example of adding an entry to an SCF list that is not full:
1. Dial *63
2. You hear:

When the star key is pressed the digits are cleared and the user is returned to the main menu.
To remove the number of the last calling party from the SCF list you can press 01#. If there is no number for the last calling party, the system speaks an announcement indicating that the number for the last calling party is unavailable. If the number for the last calling party is available but it is not on the SCF list, the system speaks an announcement indicating that it did not find the number on the SCF list. If the requested number is on the SCF list, the system removes the number and speaks an announcement giving the removed number. If you use the 01# option to remove a number and marked the last calling number as a private number, that number cannot be spoken. Instead, the system announces that it removed a private number.
When you remove all entries on the list because you dialed 08#, the system announces that there are no more entries on the list.
When you remove all private entries from the list because you dialed 09#, the system announces that there are no more private entries on the list. The system provides this announcement even when there were no private entries on the list.

Automatic Recall or Automatic Call Return
Automatic recall return, an incoming call management feature, allows users to automatically redial the last incoming number without knowing the number or the calling party. This feature is sometimes called Automatic Call Return (ACR).
To activate this feature dial the initiation code *69. The system calls the last incoming number that rings to the station after users initiate the feature. If the recalled number is busy and users want to call the number again, they must dial the initiation code *69 again.
This feature has an available CDR record that supports a PER USE pricing scheme customers select for their users. This is in addition to the feature control per user.
Configure Automatic Recall
Automatic Recall constitutes a sub-set of CLASS Services Feature Set One and is a purchasable option.
Enable the Automatic Recall feature in the Class of Service command. If customers want the system to speak the date, time, and number of the last call received and use voice prompts when dialers use *69, they must also purchase the IVS feature and configure it using:

Use Automatic Recall
In the Automatic Recall feature, call processing stores the last calling number for each line. If the Attendant Console extends the last incoming call, the system obtains the originators number from the Attendant Console Group and stores it as the last calling number. The last incoming number remains until the system receives another call. If a call comes in and there is no calling party number (CPN) available, the last incoming number clears, and no number is available for recall. If an ITE station has multiple lines, then the Automatic Recall feature recalls the last number that called the selected line.
To initiate Automatic Recall, users must go off hook (pick up the phone) and dial *69.
Automatic Recall Scenario
In Automatic Recall, if the last incoming number was a toll call or outside the defined calling area defined by the users normal restrictions, the system treats the call the same as the normal restriction for that station. The system has an authorization step so customers can insert it to support normal call restrictions.
The following scenario provides an example of using an Automatic Recall authorization code:
The customer requires an authorization code to place a toll call. The system prompts the recalling party for an authorization code. Upon acceptance of the authorization code, the system issues a zip-zip tone and allows the user to place the call.
The Automatic Recall feature only tries to call the recalled number once. If the destination line is busy, the user hears the busy tone. Users need to re-initiate Automatic Recall if they wish to call the last incoming number again. There is no callback function for a busy Automatic Recall destination. This exists because if the return call is for an outside number such as station to trunk or to another PBX via IXL trunk, the system cannot call back to the recall destination.
When users dial *69 to initiate a call, the CDR record dialing description indicates that the dialer used *69. When recalling a station (when CDR records are not normally generated), the system generates a CDR record when dialers use *69 to initiate the call. If
MMMM MMMM
Chapter 2. CLASS Services Feature Set One
72 EADS TELECOM North America - 2536-001
users abort *69 or no number is available to call back, the system generates no CDR record.
Auto Call Return Modes of Operation Two modes of operation exist for Automatic Recall.
1. Automatic Recall with confirmation:
• In this mode, the user hears that the number is to be dialed and is asked to confirm. The system informs the user in one of two possible methods:
• The system displays the date, time, and phone number of the last incoming call on the phone if the station is equipped with a display
• The user hears the spoken date, time, and number of the last incoming call if the users configured the IVS with the appropriate phrases.
2. Automatic Recall without confirmation: In this mode of operation, users cannot see or play the return call number. This is for STE phones with IVS phrases unavailable. The user thus does not have the option to confirm the feature. The system calls the last incoming number to that station right after the feature is activated without waiting for user confirmation.
ITE phones can have both modes if users set up the IVS feature and have IVS phrases available. STE phones only have IVS-spoken information if they have IVS available.
After users receive the information, they are prompted to OK the call. The prompt can take one of two forms:
1. A voice prompt requesting users press 1 to continue or hang up to abort the call with a zip tone sound if IVS phrases are unavailable
If users assign the partition with a defined IVS group but the system does not find the required phrases and the station is not a display phone, then the feature operates in the mode of Automatic Recall without confirmation.
2. Automatic Recall without confirmation.

To gain access to the CLASS Service features remotely, the user dials a Feature Directory Number. Then users are prompted to enter the DIRN of the desired line and an authorization code.
Access CLASS Service Call Forward Feature Remotely
For example, to access the CLASS Service Call Forward feature for a desired line from another line perform the following:
Table 25. Set Up Call Forward Remote Access
Step Action
1. User first needs to dial the Feature Directory Number specified to use for CLASS Service Remote Feature Access
2. Answer prompt by entering the directory number of the desired line and the Personal Identification Number (PIN)
3. If the combination of the directory number and PIN entered are correct, you can access the CLASS Service features by dialing the appropriate feature code
4. You must follow the rest of the activation process for the CLASS Service features
A CDR record, available for this feature, supports a PER USE pricing scheme selected by the customer for their users. This is in addition to the feature control per user. Each time Call Forward completes through Remote Access feature, the system generates a CDR record. The output for this CDR record has the new field FLD.CRA to indicate that Call Forward completed through the Remote Access feature. Other fields associate with this record are:
• FLD.ODR: Originator DIRN or Trunk Group Number
• FLD.DT2: Originate Date
• FLD.TOR: Originate Time
• FLD.DRD: Target. DIRN or Trunk Group Number
• FLD.CRA: Call Forward Activated remotely
Feature Configuration Operation The CLASS Service Remote Feature Access, part of CLASS Service Feature Set One, allows user activation through a Feature Directory number. The administrator must create a Feature Directory number for the CLASS Service Remote Feature Access under the DIRN command.
Users can enable Remote Access in the Class of Service command. If you want to have the system speak voice prompts during the activation process of Remote Access, you must purchase the IVS feature and configure it with the following:

• The IVS group must be assigned for each partition that has stations that are using the CLASS Service features using the SPAR command.
• Assign phrase group number for each user group under UGRP/UGP/PGP
• The required phrases of the CLASS Service Remote Features Access have to be recorded with the correct phrase ID as listed in the followed table within the phrase group that assigned for the originator user group.
Configuring remote access requires the IVS phrases indicated in Table 26.

126 You have entered an invalid feature code
The phrases listed in Table 26 represent example phrases. Customers can customize the phrases for their needs as long as each phrase ID listed is use for the corresponding purposes indicated in the table.
Remote Access Operation Users must have a PIN to access CLASS Service features remotely. Set up a PIN for each Directory Number under the LINE command. The PIN can be any number of digits up to 8 digits. Define the maximum length for the PINs under UGRP/CHP/PIN. The Directory Number and PIN verification process requires the originator and the target line exist within the same user group. To activate the CLASS Service Remote Feature Access, the user needs to complete the sequence defined in Table 27.

Caller ID Block /Unblock Overview
Caller ID Block/Unblock, a CLASS Services feature, allows users to temporarily block or unblock their name and phone number so the called party, with Calling Number Delivery, does or does not receive the Caller ID information.
The specifics for Caller ID Block/Unblock include:
• Activate Caller ID BLOCK by dialing feature code *67.
• Activate Caller ID UNBLOCK by dialing feature code *82.
• Caller ID BLOCK or UNBLOCK is a call-by-call feature.
• When users hang up, after activating Caller ID Block/Unblock the system restores the default found in the users Class of Service parameters for Calling Party Number presentation.
• All features in Caller ID Block/Unblock apply only to external calling.
• Using *67 before dialing a directory number does NOT block the caller ID from being displayed to the destination.
• Caller ID is ALWAYS presented on station to station calls.
Implementing *67 and *82 feature codes have affected operation of the *6 feature code (Do Not Disturb) and the *8 feature code (ACD wrap up). This occurs because a possible second digit can follow *6 or *8. Inter-digit timing occurs to allow users to wait for the possible second digit following dialing *6 or *8. Callers experience delays:
• Before receiving the confirmation tone after dialing *6 to turn on Do Not Disturb
• Exiting wrap up after dialing *8
The inter-digit timing used is from the user group parameter for Fast Inter-digit Timing (UGRP;UGP:FIT). The user can dial *6# or *8# to eliminate the delay.
Feature Configuration The Caller ID Block/Unblock feature occurs in PointSpan software load 3.0 and higher. It comes bundled with the Calling Party Number feature. You may enable the Caller ID Block/Unblock feature in the Class of Service for the specified voice lines. The Class of Service parameters for Calling Party Number presentation determine if Calling Number Delivery is:
• Public (presentation allowed)
• Private (presentation not allowed)

PointSpan Features and Enhancements
EADS TELECOM North America - 2536-001 95
Feature Operation Caller ID Block/Unblock is supported on both digital and analog telephones. Feature activation applies on an individual directory number basis. The two specific sequences for this feature include:
1. Caller ID Block To establish Caller ID Block, go off hook and activate the feature by dialing the *67 feature code to mark this call as Private. Although this call is marked for Caller ID presentation not allowed, the Calling Party Name and Number is still sent for use by other CLASS features. However, it is not displayed to the terminating telephone set. This feature does not affect emergency calls.
If the system allows you to perform this feature via Class of Service, it indicates an activated Caller ID Block feature. Otherwise, the you receive reorder tone if you try to use the *67 feature code before placing a call.
Example: 1) Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
2) Press *67 and you hear dial tone again.
3) Dial the number you are calling as usual.
The people you call, if they subscribe to provider Calling Party ID service, cannot see your number displayed on their telephone. Instead, they see a P, Private or Unavailable. The system disallows the Calling Party Number presentation and treats it as Private.
The activation sequence in the example above requires the customer to have previously established the Class of Service parameters for the default Calling Party Number presentation desired. In the prior example, you set Calling Party Number presentation in the Class of Service for presentation allowed or Public. Because this is a call-by-call feature, when you hang up, the Calling Party Number presentation default reverts back to the original Class of Service parameter settings presentation allowed or Public.
2. Caller ID Unblock: To establish Caller ID Unblock, go off hook and activate the feature by dialing the *82 feature code to mark this call as Public. The system always sends Caller ID for emergency calls even if the default is Private.
If you are allowed to activate this feature via Class of Service, the system allows the Caller ID Unblock feature. Otherwise, you receive the message reorder tone if you use the *82 feature code before placing a call.
Example:

service, can see your number displayed on their telephones. In this case the system allows the Calling Party Number presentation and treats it as Public.
The activation sequence in the example above requires that you previously established the Class of Service parameters for the default Calling Party Number presentation desired. In the prior example, you set Calling Party Number presentation in the Class of Service for presentation not allowed or Private. Because this is a call-by-call feature, when you hang up, the Calling Party Number presentation default reverts to the original Class of Service parameter settings presentation not allowed or Private.

Set Up and Use E911 Call Transfer
E911 Call Transfer Enhancement Overview
Normally when users transfer a call to an outside trunk they send the Calling Party Number (CPN) of the transferring party out. When users enable this feature and transfer an Emergency call to an outside trunk, they send the CPN of the transferred party out instead of the CPN of the transferring party. This occurs for both supervised and unsupervised transfers.
This feature sends the CPN of the transferred party to the outside trunk when the following conditions are true:
• The call being transferred is an Emergency call
• The Class of Service of the destination party of the Emergency call has this feature enabled
• The transferring party is the destination party of the Emergency call
Emergency call means a 911 call, 1-911 call, or a call made to an Emergency Directory Number defined in the PointSpan system.
Use this feature in environments where PointSpan-originating emergency calls are routed to an Emergency operator destination also resident on the system. As the on-switch Emergency operators process a call they encounter times where they must transfer the 911 call to the local government PSAP center. When that situation exists, the government 911 operator receives the CPN for the party requiring help, not the CPN of the 911 operator who transferred the call.
E911 Call Transfer Enhancement Operation
The Class of Service (CLOS) of a voice line allows this feature to be enabled. This feature activates when:
• A user makes an emergency call (911 or emergency DIRN)
• The Emergency operator transfers the call to another destination
If the system enables the Emergency operators voice line class of service to send the transferred partys CPN, then the PointSpan system builds and sends the CPN based on the party being transferred.
The format and information sent for the CPN of the transferred party is the same format as if the transferred party made the call directly to the transfer destination.

Server Separation and Multiple Servers
Server Separation and Multiple Servers Overview
Server Separations is the ability to have the PointSpan servers at different locations connected by Ethernet local area networks (LAN). Server separation control exists on PointSpan 3.0 and above.
The PointSpan Server platform is an evolutionary outgrowth of the Millennium Server with the following enhancements and features:
• Provides disaster tolerance by server separation In this disaster tolerance situation, the loss of one master control unit (MCU), due to a physical disaster, has a very low probability of taking out the redundant side.
• Establishes an environment of multiple server/survivable IP distribution nodes
• Equals or exceeds the M-Server 500,000 BHCC and 3,000,000 CTI messages (on local private network no network induced delay)
• Increases the size of the RAM for future software releases
• Increases the speed of the processor over the M-Server
• Adds a DVD drive to replace the M-Server DAT tape drive to increase reliability of the backup and software distribution media (allows CD-ROM software distribution)
• Upgrades to four 10 base T/100 base T Ethernet NICs to allow systems to migrate to the 100 Meg Ethernet speeds.
• Replaces the M-Server in production to avoid obsolescence issues.
• Makes the software configurable for ECS, NCS, and RCS applications in simplex or redundant installations
Server Separation Description
PointSpan server separation includes physically separated PointSpan Enterprise Control Servers (ECSs). This feature provides a disaster tolerant master control unit (MCU) complex. This complex enables primary and secondary MCUs to be in physically separated networks such that the loss of one MCU due to a physical disaster would have a low probability of taking out the redundant side.
PointSpan version 3.0 and higher supports Server Separation. PointSpan 3.0 and higher no longer supports the RS-422 communications link.

Customers may purchase the Server Separation option. When customers purchase this option, they must have the feature enabled in the specified field in the database. This includes a feature enabled database field for the Ethernet IP communications link also. This is consistent with other purchasable options.
Objectives of Server Separation
The primary server separation objectives include:
• Disaster Tolerance Geographically separated ECSs (as opposed to their current co-location) makes them better able to tolerate a single disaster. This includes a continued survivability of the remote NCS and RCS servers.
• Independent Maintenance Interface (SMM) accessible through modem connection from service center or through local co-located terminal. Each ECS can be halted, reset, etc. through its own SMM. No integrated status display exists.
• High speed upload and download file transfer capability to the ECS, NCS, and RCS servers Given the network topology, file transfer with NCS and RCS servers will likely be at lower speeds than with the ECS.

Network Recommendations and Requirements
PointSpan Server separation adds a new dimension to the switchover and recovery process. Previous non-separated servers had a hardwired interface between the A and B servers, giving a near guaranteed connection for primary/secondary negotiation. With Server separation through an IP network, the interface between the A and B servers is no longer guaranteed and sporadic network outages can cause total loss of communication between Servers A and B. This condition can result in dual primaries. For server separation, operation and recovery from a dual primary condition becomes unpredictable and may require manual intervention to affect a timely recovery.

CM Task Interactions
The CM task has a special arrangement with the VT100 driver. The top of the CM user interface has a single line for command input. The lower part of the display screen allows scrolling alarm output and any display output that may be associated with a command that has been entered on the input line. The VT100 driver sends the scrolling output at the bottom of the display to two different channels. The system sends the scrolling display to channel 0 for display to any terminal using or viewing CM on the Console channel. It

also sends the scrolling information to channel 2 for display to the printer. Thus, the CM task involvement engages channels 0, 2, and 3.
Additional ECS/UTB Connection Detail
The UTB provides a number of key connections for the ECS.
Table 34. ECS/UTB Connections
Connection Description
High Speed COMM As described in CM Task Interactions above
COMM Link This provides a communication link between the CM programs in each ECS. This link allows the sibling CMs to determine which ECS should remain/become Primary. This link is an RS422 connection between the two UTBs.
The two CMs can use the IPLK as a fall back path of communication in the case where there is a problem with communication across the COMM Link.
Halt: This line allows the SMM to halt the associated ECS processor.
Reset This line allows the SMM to reset or reboot the associated ECS.
Watch Dog Disable The UTB has a watchdog function. If the UTB has not heard from the ECS within the watchdog interval the UTB will reset the ECS. The ECS can load the watchdog interval value, but it cannot disable the UTB watchdog function. Only the SMM (via this line) can disable the watchdog.
The watchdog facility on the UTB can provide a time out interval of up to 17 minutes.
SMM Interface
System Maintenance Module (SMM) provides remote terminal access through a second terminal at each site and additional modem and PSTN line connections to the remote (other) site. Refer to the server separation diagram for clarification of this function.
Key elements of server separation SMM include the following:
• SMM will function as it does today
• Co-located with each MCU will be an SMM, 2 terminal and 3 modems.
• No integrated display
• A/B selector switch must be set the same for each location. The settings are AUTO, FORA and FORB.

MMMM MMMM
Chapter 6. Server Separation and Multiple Servers

The console user can view a specific interface In this case the console user at Console 1 (for example) can view what is being done through Console 2 (in this case Console 2 did a become). This view mode is especially convenient for a person local to the switch in monitoring the commands being entered from a console at the Service Center (or vice-versa)
If one person has become the console and another person is viewing, what happens if the viewer does a become on the same interface. In this case the original owner of the interface reverts to a higher-level SMM prompt, and the person who has just done the become now owns the interface. In other words, the last become wins.
Call Home
The SMM can initiate a call home via the modem connection if that connection is not already associated with an attached remote console. Users typically place a call home to a company Technical Service Center phone number with a PC connected at the Service Center end that logs the information provided in the call home message.
A component in the Primary ECS generates most call homes. This component is called AIP (Alarm Information Processing). Based on the AIP configuration, the system designates certain alarms as deserving of a call home. When these designated alarms happen the system initiates a call home. Here are some of the call home related features.
• Test Call Home
• List Call Home numbers
• Change/Add number
• Enable/Disable
• Provide SiteID (name of the PointSpan customer site)
• Issue Call Home in response to a designated alarm
• Initiate SMM call home on its own In this unique case the SMM maintains communication with the CM task in both ECSs (via the High Speed COM). If the SMM is not hearing from either ECS, the SMM itself initiates a call home indicating that both ECSs appear to be dead.
History Buffers
The SMM maintains a History Buffer for the recent alarms from both ECSs. Primarily these buffers maintain evidence of what happened just before an ECS failure in order to diagnose the failure event. The following are some history buffer related features.
• Clear Primary/Secondary history buffer
• Dump history buffer to console
• Mark or bookmark a history buffer

Alarm Indicator Handling Detail
ECS/SMM alarms both handle and clear alarms.
ECS/SMM Alarm Handling
Refer to the section titled Call Home for the initial reference to AIP. The SMM handles both Major and Minor alarms. When either type of alarm occurs, CM in the primary ECS sends a message to the SMM via channel 3 (CM/SMM communications). The message uses the alarm text stream being sent to the SMM via channel 2 (Printer) to indicate the occurrence of a major or minor alarm.
Alarm messages cause the major or minor alarm LED on the SMM to display as appropriate. A major alarm may also cause an audible alarm. The SMM generates audible alarm noises. To disable audible alarms use the appropriate switch on the SMM.
Use the alarm (ALRM) man/machine command to clear alarms.
Clear Alarms
Alarms usually indicate that the switch needs attention. Enter the alarm (ALRM) command to turn off alarms. ALRM allows you to access the audible or visual alarm indicators to turn them off.
Users can include the Remote Maintenance and Administration (RMA) in the switch configuration to enable connection to the Technical Support Center for diagnostic and maintenance assistance.
To clear an alarm:

Step Action Result alarms are allowed.
• MIN to turn off just the minor screen alarms and the accompanying sound but leave the major alarms on screen.
• - (dash, for ALL) to clear the sounds and all screen alarms from the system. System displays message about how request was handled.
Once the user clears the alarms, the CM task in the Primary ECS sends appropriate commands to the SMM via channel 3 (CM/SMM Communications) to clear the Major, Minor, and/or Audible alarms.
Remote Alarm Indications
A connector on the SMM board allows customers to connect a custom alarm monitoring device to the MAJOR, MINOR, and AUDIBLE alarms. The system has a set of normally open and normally closed relay contacts available for each alarm type to isolate the customers device from the SMM board.
The switching system contains a System Remote Alarm Box. Major alarms cause the remote major alarm LED to light and the audible alarm to sound. Minor alarms cause the remote minor alarm LED to light but cause no audible alarm sound.
Halt, Debugger, and Panic Dump
The Halt line from the SMM causes Interrupt 2 on the ECSs Intel processor to fire. This interrupt is a non-maskable interrupt. This interrupt causes the processors context to be saved on the stack and control to be passed to the Lynx Processor Debug Module.
Use the SMM prompt to issue the Halt command. After this command, you remain at the SMM prompt. You must issue a become console command on the processor (A or B) where you issued the Halt command in order to see the debugger screen.
You remain in the debugger screen until you execute a debugger command that resumes normal execution. At that point you see the console screen that was present when you originally entered the Halt command.
One of the commands available to the Debug Module user is a request for a Panic Dump. Currently the Panic Dump outputs to the cartridge tape unit.
Additional UTB Functions
In addition to the to the UTB overview provided in the Collocated Servers Overview section there are some additional features that the UTB provides to its ECS.
MMMM MMMM
Chapter 6. Server Separation and Multiple Servers
120 EADS TELECOM North America - 2536-001
• OS Tracker Clock Provides a recurring clock that can be used by OS Tracker code in the ECS to determine a breakdown of where the ECS is spending CPU resources.
• Precision Interval Clock Provides a more accurate time source than most PC motherboards provide.
• Boot PROM In the past provided BIOS type boot logic to support booting from non-standard PC devices.
SMM Firmware/Modem Functionality
Server maintenance module (SMM) firmware includes the server maintenance module as well as the master control unit (MCU) specifications.
MCU
The MCU requires an RS422 terminator on the A-side. This is what tells the MCU it is A rather than B. The MCU type, in T80MCU, must be set to 4 to let the system know that it is using the Ethernet Comm instead of the RS422 link. The MCU comes up as secondary because of the A/B selector switch.
CM and SMM Lockstep
Thrashing can occur when both SMMs A/B selector switch are set to different settings. The SMM A/B selector switch remains the same as in CM. A feature bit, TA8SEP, indicates whether servers are separated.
Rules for A/B Selector Switch Processing
• CM starts off with ABSW set to AUTO until the OCM configuration is received. When the SMM_ABSW is received, it is saved. This is important to prevent thrashing.
• Suring the initialized states in CM (SCM_INIT, SCM_UNIN, SCM_ICPP and SCM_ICPS), when sending status to the OCM, the SMM_ABSW is sent.
• When receiving the OCM status, CM does the following:
If the OABSW does not match ABSW or SMM_ABSW, check and select the best setting for ABSW
CM is in an initialized state
OCM is primary and OABSW does not equal SMM_ABSW
Set ABSW to OABSW (set to primary)
SMM_ABSW is either set to FORA or FORB and OABSW does not equal SMM_ABSW
 Set ABSW to AUTO.
All other cases, set ABSW to SMM_ABSW
If CM is normal primary, do nothing

 For All other CM states:
! If OCM is primary and OABSW does not equal ABSW, set ABSW to OABSW (set to primary)
! If ABSW is either FORA or FORB and OABSW does not equal ABSW, set ABSW to AUTO
! All other cases are not fatal. An error is printed and ABSW will be set on the secondary later.
If the system is not simplex and the check does not occur during initialization during the main CM loop, check the ABSW. The variable ABSW_SYNC counter sets to 20. When it is decremented to 0, the following checks occur:
! If ABSW does not equal OABSW and if CM is normal primary, print an error message
! If ABSW does not equal OABSW and if CM is normal secondary, change the ABSW to match OABSW and send a message to the primary indicating the change.
! If ABSW does not equal OABSW and in all other cases, print an error message so as not to interfere with any arbitration currently going on between MCUs.
! If ABSW does not equal SMM_ABSW, print an error message to check the SMM. Manually change the SMM A/B selectors on each MCU to match.
• With the use of sockets, a delay can occur upon initialization for the comm link to become available. In this case, users will not know OCM or OABSW. To prevent thrashing or dual primaries, MCU communication times out and retries 3 times to allow the comm link to be established before the MCU tries to come up as primary or secondary.
Changing the SMM: If users change the SMM A/B selector, the CM initiating the change must send a message to let the OCM know about it. The system sends the OP code, OP_SSPWT to the OCM. The OCM processes OP_SSPWT in CX_SSPWT. It updates its ABSW and OABSW and sends the OP code, OP_SSPRD, message back to the initiating CM. The initiating CM processes OP_SSPRD in CX_SSPRD and updates its OABSW.
If the IPLK0 goes down and there is no communication between the MCUs, the system uses SMM_ABSW if the OCM is in SCM_UNIN state and the OCP is in K_INIT state. This occurs because the system does not really know the OCM settings at this time and CM must rely on the A/B selector position of its connected SMM.
CM Sockets
The basic functionality of the CM sockets includes:
• CM has two sockets, a main socket and an alternate socket.
• The function that performs IPLK1 writes is comm_write located in V07.
MMMM MMMM
Chapter 6. Server Separation and Multiple Servers
122 EADS TELECOM North America - 2536-001
• If the server is PointSpan and the main socket is connected, then the main socket will be written.
• If the write is good, control returns to the calling program.
• If the write fails, then the alternate socket will be tried.
• If that fails, and the IPLK0 and CP is up, then CM will try to use IPLK0.
• If none of this works, the system prints an error message.
• Main Socket The main socket uses PORT_CMMSV2, defined as 8151. This is the main Ethernet socket for PointSpan systems IPLK1. The socket is connected only if the MCU type is set in T80 as MSV2 (this originally stood for Millennium Server II, but really means PointSpan Server). The main socket replaces the RS422 connection.
• Alternate Socket The alternate socket uses PORT_CM, defined as 8150. This is the alternate Ethernet socket for Millennium and PointSpan servers.
• Commonality between Main and Alt
MCU A listens and accepts on the main and alternate sockets. MCU B connects on the main and alternate sockets. The IP address used for both main and alt is retrieved using the host name with the character c appended to it. For example, the host name PCX3A would be PCX3AC. This is defined in /etc/hosts. The IPLK0 uses the IP address associated with just the host name.
The CM control loop has a 2 second timer. When this timer expires, socket connections are checked. If they are not connected, the sockets will be closed and reopened to reestablish the connection
Server Separation Functionality
Server separation functionality applies to interprocessor links 0 and 1 (IPLK0, IPLK1) and IODZ0.
Interprocessor Link 0 (IPLK0) Functionality
IPLK0 provides the following functionality:
• Interprocessor Link 0 Functions identically as the IPLK interface on current PointSpan servers
• In the event IPLK0 fails, IPLK0 loses its functionality until the system recovers the link
• For both ECSs (A and B) IPLK0 interfaces must reside on the same IP subnet • Designers recommend that IPLK0 and IPLK1 connectivity be routed on
completely separate network paths where possible to avoid single network failures from causing a dual interface outage (a dual fault condition from the Server perspective)

MMMM
PointSpan Features and Enhancements
EADS TELECOM North America - 2536-001 123
• IPLK0 interfaces between Servers A and B reside on the same switched IP subnet
• IPLK0 has at least 10Mb of available bandwidth to allow file copy and secondary updates to take place with minimal delay
• Tolerance to network anomalies such as Delay, Jitter, Packet Loss and Sequence Errors meet or exceed the following indicators: Delay 350ms one way maximum Jitter 0 100ms (up to 250ms one way delay) Packet loss < 7% Sequence Errors <10%
Interprocessor Link 1 (IPLK1) Functionality
IPLK1 provides the following functionality:
• Interprocessor Link 1 performs the functions currently supported by the RS-422 communications link
• IPLK1 is routable and may be on the same or different subnets at the ECS servers and must reside on different subnets than those where IPLK0 or IODZ0 reside
• In the event IPLK1 fails, some of the Console Monitor (CM) communications link functionality attempts to transfer to IPLK0 (if available) to maintain MCU redundancy
• This interface operates in a multi-subnet environment • Designers recommend that IPLK0 and IPLK1 be routed on completely separate
network paths where possible to avoid single network failures from causing a dual interface outage (a dual fault condition from the Server perspective)
• IPLK1 interfaces between Servers A and B can exist on the same or different IP subnets
• IPLK1 shall have at least 1Mb of available bandwidth with packet latency being more important than raw bandwidth
• Tolerance to network anomalies such as Delay, Jitter, Packet Loss and Sequence Errors shall meet or exceed the following indicators: Delay 350ms one way max. Jitter 0-100ms (up to 250ms one way delay) Packet loss < 7% Sequence Errors <10%
IODZ0 Functionality
IODZ0 provides the following functionality:
• The IODZ0 interface continues to operate identically as the current PointSpan servers IODZ0 interface
• This interface operates in a multi-subnet environment

Server Separation Switch Over and Recovery
The initial offering of server separation supports the same recovery capabilities and limitations as a collocated configuration. The collocated configuration has servers hardwired for IPLK and high-speed comm links. The separated configuration uses the customer LAN for this connectivity. This network connectivity creates an increased capability for a dual primary condition to exist. Because operation and recovery from a dual primary condition is unpredictable and may require manual intervention to affect a timely recovery, the section labeled Switch Over and Recovery Process provides the processes required.
Switch Over and Recovery Process
Document the various scenarios that could occur with the loss of connectivity between servers must be documented with a recommended normal process for recovery.
Document the following scenarios with a procedure addressing a normal recovery process, given that either Span has bandwidth to carry traffic of both
• Failure of the IPLK0 link does not have an automatic recovery capability thus users may need to manually intervene
 Operation under this condition
 Recovery under this condition
• Failure of High Speed Com Link, IPLK1, network span will cause automatic rerouting to the IPLK0 span
 Operation under this condition
Recovery under this conditionOperating System (OS)
• Install
 Os40ps2.0.c or later
Set hostac and hostbc addresses in /etc/hosts
Enable iplk1 interface in /net/rc.network by uncommenting the ifconfig line for iplk1
• Functionality
Time is set via sockets at the OS level. Time audits occur at the OS level, also.
All OS changes are for Ethernet Comm link. No changes are specifically for server separation.
Network Requirements
PointSpan server separation adds a new dimension to the switchover and recovery process. Previous non-separated servers had a hardwired interface between the A and B

servers, thus providing a near guaranteed connection for Primary/Secondary negotiation. With server separation through an IP network, the interface between the A and B servers is not longer guaranteed and sporadic network outages can cause total loss of communication between A and B. This condition can result in dual primaries. Operation and recovery from a dual primary condition is unpredictable and most likely will require manual intervention to affect a timely recovery.
Route IPLK0 and IPLK1 on completely separate network paths, where possible, to avoid single network failures causing a dual interface outage. This precipitates a dual fault condition from the server's perspective.
Access Service Center PC
• PC has two modems with two copies of ProComm
• To view status on each ECS, the PC must dial into each SMM. Co-located terminals
• Through a terminal and a modem, each side can access the other sides SMM.
• No integrated display exists.
Implementation Issues
A and B IPLK0 interfaces MUST reside on the SAME IP subnet.

RTN to IPN Conversion
RTN to IPN Coversion Overview
ONLY EADS TELECOM North America Technical Support engineers can perform the RTN to IPN conversion. For conversion, Technical Support engineers must work with the customers. To perform the convesion, the support engineer enters the RIPN command under SHCM to reconfigure the ASP (man-machine command) database. This sets up the database to convert the specified RTN partition to an IPN partition. This command specifically converts a T1 distributed RTN to an IP distributed IPN.
This command does not reconfigure any of the OS configuration files. To add the new DIOD/DIOM cards necessary for the converted partition, support engineers must manually modify files such as:
• iodcfg
• hosts
• bootptab
Once support engineers enter the command, they convert:
• Survivable RTN partitions into survivable IPN partitions
• Non-survivable RTN partitions into non-survivable IPN partitions
RTN Conversion Operation Technical Support Engineers convert an RTN to an IPN by entering the ASP command RIPN under the command SHCM. At the Enter Partition Number prompt, they enter the partition number of the RTN to be converted to an IPN. The conversion process involves:
• Changing the partition type in SPAR. If the partition to be converted was an RSU then the new type is IPN. If the partition to be converted was an SSU then the new type is IPS.
• Creating new IODs associated with every equipped LMS in the partition.
• Creating new application channels, download channels, and control channels for each new IODs.
• Re-mapping the control channels for existing equipped LMS, BXI, FXL, ATH, and ATT in the target partition from IOD cards in the host to the local new IOD cards in the IPN.
• Converting all control channels links and download links on the control channel IXL spans to RSP links.

DVD
DVD Overview
Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE) hard disk and DVD peripherals will ultimately displace the SCSI card and peripherals in the PointSpan system. This change involves driver changes but no form, fit, or function changes.
The PointSpan Server 3.0 release includes DVD-RAM drive only. Enhancements to the product support booting from the CD-ROM in the DVD drive. This enhancement phases out the DAT tape.
Writable DVD technology constantly evolves. and EADS TELECOM North America conforms to standards defined within this arena. Other impacting technologies are hard disks and SCSI development. Hard Disks have a production life of about six months. Disk access speed continually increases. These technological changes force developed interfaces to change as well. SCSI has evolved to the Ultra160 standard. This evolution has forced an increased data transfer rate to 160 Megabytes per second.
Use the DVD to Backup Using Tar
