point-7 sail features
DESCRIPTION
some of the 30 details to make Point-7 sail a high quality and indistructible productTRANSCRIPT
1- The Black metalized monofilm, produced in the US,
completely blocks the suns UV-Rays. The damaging
effect of the UV, which normally burns transparent
monofilm, is thus eliminated. The added metalized
particles help to reflect heat from the sun and added thickness of the material
guarantees durability. The overall look of the sails will
therefore not change with time and usage.
2-After 252 hour sun exposure, the UV resistant window material fades only 10%. Another inovative progress made by P7 in the spirit of delivering the best quality products by supplying sails that will stay new with time.
3- All seams on the mast sleeve are external. Extra inner mast sleeve protection is inserted on the front
side of the pocket to protect against mast abrasion during mast
insertion.
4- Hidden radial Kevlar disperse system . Maximal structural sail integrity in the toughest wave conditions.
5-Mini leech battens ; Aerodynamic rods mini battens sewn directly into
the upper sections of the sail for added stability and durability to the
leech. Takes control of the leech while twisting
6- On selected sail sizes there will be equipped with vario top. 2 sets of exchangeable webbings are included; 1 length for recommended mast, 1 for compatible mast length. Aerodynamic solid rubber protection minimizes abrasion whilst rigging. Includes a de-rigging loop rope.
7-Boom opening system: a nylon band added to the mast sleeve at the
boom opening, add for easy threading of the
mast into the luff pocket.
8-KEVLAR™ X-PLY Leech construction: lightweight and ultra
strong leech construction using Kevlar X-Ply for stability and durability
applied specifically in the areas where the monofilm
directly meets the leech
9-Batten tension system which offer a wide adjustment range. Made to be as
aerodynamics as possible with the batten pocket. The battens can be kept tensioned all
the time. The fine tuning is done using the enclosed Adams key. Outside rubber protection on both sides of the batten
adjustment , to protect the sail from abrasion.
10-Hidden seems: This is done to protect the base seams from
abrasion on the non-skid area of the board
11-3D tack faring; mast foot protector made in thermo foam,
which offer optimal guard for mast, board and rider.
cover up all pulleys and base elements.
3 roller brass pulley in sail for easy downhaul
13-The P7 trim system makes it easy to have the perfect tuning no matter
what extension being used. Place the extension on the marks indicated on
the foot of the sail and take reference from the drawing for correct position of
the extension ring.
Compact boom length: improves stability through
moving the clew attachment point closer to the mast.
Improves to lock in the draft by giving it less scope to
move around. Shortening the boom length without changing the length of the sail which is
maintained by the cross batten. When the sail is raked back, it’s also preventing the
boom-end from hitting the water on large sail sizes. All these advantages give more stability and control over the
performance of the sail, executing faster speeds,
powerful acceleration, lighter feel and easy control.
14-Integrated elastic band for easy fixture of sail when rolled up
Camber with 4 peripheral
rollers . Guarantees a
very smooth rotation of the sail. Leaving no abrasion
marks on the mast or in the mast sleeve.
The camber is resting on a
stainless steel metal brace, securing the
structural integrity of the sail sleeve
and batten structure.
Optimizing the connection
between batten, sail and camber
for better and more uniform
rotation.
By placing the cambers in true 90° to the mast,
the batten pressure is more evenly displaced
onto the mast and thus helping also with rotation
as all camber rollers are in full
contact.
The sails have been designed to have the battens staying behind the mast when rigged on the beach.
This might make them see flat when not in use(Photo 1). Once the sail enters the wind, the mast is bending
bringing a very homogeneous profile (photo 2). As shown on the photo, the profile is very clean, reproducing the efficiency of a cambered profile sail while windsurfing.
This profile forms thanks to the development done on the mast sleeve curve. This profile system brings big
advantages to our no cam sails. On each sail line different profiles are being used, but by using this same system.
Generally the sail feels lighter in the hands as all the profile is distributed along the width of the boom length.
As the mast is staying bent the whole time in the wind, the profile does not move and this gives full stability in strong
wind, and more efficiency through the low wind. During manoeuvres, the sail & mast will not catch wind, and the
profile will return flat: this will allow to have a complete neutral, forgiving and easy sail during transitions. As the
battens are staying behind the mast, during change of tack, the rotation of the battens is completely free and
smooth.
This system has brought our AC-0 over 40knots of GPS speed and the wave sails having a great wind range a
complete forgiving character. A step ahead profile system to no cam sails.
