2. In the first verse the Artist uses a Rhetorical Question. Rhetorical Questions are used to help a person or an audience think about the question being asked. In the song, the artist uses a rhetorical question to help emphasise that he is confused and full of thoughts. The artist asks 'What am I going to do?', meaning that he wants help to get through his confusion and thoughts. In the second verse, an adverb is used to emphasise how a bird sings. In the text, is says 'up in a tree a bird sings so sweetly', the sweetly in this text is the adverb used to describe how the bird was singing. The artist also mentions this topic because of the theme of the song which is nature, and singing birds have a connection to that theme. In the first chorus set, the artist uses Repetition to help create a beat. In this case the artist is using repetition to create more and better sound to suit the song and background music. Also in the second verse is the use of verbs and personification, which are very useful to this song. The words rustling and whistling help emphasise that the leaves are whistling and rustling, but in reality leaves can't really whistle. It also says that the noise of the leaves turn breeze to speech. 3. While studying this song, I learned many new things that have showed me new techniques. When I first looked at this song, I looked for the different techniques that were used in this song. I found that good techniques were used in this song, and the techniques used help make the song much better. My favourite part of the song is the second verse, because of the techniques used, which helps make the song so much better. The most interesting thing to me was the lyrics in the first verse. The singer explains that he is confused and is full of thought. This got me thinking, Why is he confused?. Has something happened? Or has something been on his mind for a while. This made me think for a while, and also helped me with my Rhetorical Question Commentary. One last thing that made this song better was how it has rhymes in the lyrics. Usually some songs have a specific rhyme scheme, but in this song it doesn't. I believe that this song was a great song to study and analyse, and I think I know now, why It became one of the most famous songs in all New Zealand. 4. Ninety Mile Beach Sand, Beyond the eye can see Body boarding fun Southland Highs and Lows A Mixture of white and yellow Ready to explore Red Beach, full of shells Cloaking the eyes of the sand Cutting peoples feet 5. We remember the times, we stand hand and hand We remember the familiar voices that taught us about our land But we don't remember the dirty faces covered with blood and sweat Of the ANZACS, bold and firm, we must never forget The wars they fought, their lives they gave to give us our free land But we do remember the courage they showed, as we now stand hand in hand Commemorating their hard work done, with our commemorations planned We now remember the work they did, their graves speaking their deeds As Flanders Fields are renewed by hand, planting new poppy seeds We now remember our ANZAC bothers, who missed their long-loved home Their war torn bodies buried within, the deep dark dome The poppies we lay on their new eternal home, will stay with their hearts forever But until the day we join with them remember,remember, remember. 6. The Long White cloud, the place we all call home Welcomed by rain and cold, a misery Blanketed by bush, I like to roam But this, one day will all be gone, I see The land we live in now will all be changed The trees will fall to mans great weapons And mans great king will forever be famed Because of lies he used as poisons But we can stop this dreadful future life By loving, by caring, by protecting the land we love And stopping the man who caused this great strife Then peace shall sweep the land, like a white dove The Long white cloud, the land we all see peace This is shall be, and it will never cease
