PODRALA Chemical Industrial Plant (Target: MND-S TAI -A009)(35V ME 35295 39703)

The PODRALA Chemical Industrial Plant (P-CIP) was constructed in 1983 and began production of Organophosphate based pesticides used in the agricultural industry later that same year. Although beneficial to the local economy, this company produces most (greater than 55%) of the agricultural pesticides used within Vironia and Southlandia. Similar to the chemical warfare agents produced during World War II, organophosphates are some of the most common, and most toxic insecticides used today, adversely affecting the human nervous system even at low levels of exposure.

This facility was presumed abandoned by the workers when village inhabitants fled Southland’s initial attack. Several alleged employees have been seen by the remaining local inhabitants. Several families still reside within the village. The village was predominately of Southlandian ethnic origin.

Destruction of this facility would not only pose a threat to human life in the immediate vicinity, but would also be detrimental to Coalition stabilization effort sand the return to post-conflict economic normalcy.

Contour interval throughout this are is ~ 5m• Avenues of Approach: The high speed avenues of approach are along the roads and highway routes. The open areas to the southwest and east offer possible friendly Landing Zones• Key Terrain: Other than the village, there is no other prominent terrain feature which would provide significant advantage• Obstacles: The perimeter fence is the primary obstacle limiting freedom of movement into the area.• Cover and Concealment: Natural concealment and residential features provide advantage from the northwest, north, and northeast.

Soil: As part of the Easter European Plain this area has hard subsoil and poor drainage. The natural soils resulting from the stagnant water yields positive conditions for agricultural production.

Threat:• Potential secondary explosions due to flammable and explosive hazards and chemical hazards• A 2s6 AD System threat is present in the vicinity of the target area• Although located in the Tank Bn AO, HUMINT and UAV FMV indicates that there is one squad of infantry• The infantry squad consists of 14 troops, one AT-5, two 7.62 PKM, and an unknown number of SA-18.• The troops seem to be centrally located in the Building 5 area.
