Looking beyond our region boundaries

Podkarpackie Region belongs to the group of regions with

a moderate degree of innovation.

Smart specialisation and food

Strategic objectives for food production, processing and consumption in Podkarpackie Voivodeship, as part of the quality of life leading smart specialization:food security and sovereignty priority for organic, regional and traditional food GMO-free region - an absolute ban on the use of GMOs in food production and processingprohibition of the use of the Roundup herbicide as suggested by WHOpriority for organic, regional and traditional food in agro-tourism and ecotourismorganic, regional and traditional food in schools, kindergartens, nurseries and homes for the elderly

"Food sovereignty means that the inhabitants of a country, region, city or village can design their own food system so that they all have access to sufficient quantities of healthy food and that it can be grown in an environmentally sound manner. The idea of food sovereignty thus includes both democratic decision-making and action in harmony with nature. It is based on true democracy in which every person has the right to decide on matters of their community. When residents of the local community come together to determine how to grow food, and deliver it to the city, at what price, and how processed and packed. This is democracy. When setting these policies they do not need to follow the rules that without their participation are determined by international organizations such as the World Trade Organization, it is sovereignty."

Eco-innovative food economy of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship

being GMO-free, environment-, farmer- and consumer- friendly,

is a vision of leadership in the creation of eco-innovation in the

Podkarpackie Voivodeship.

The vision of food without GMOs gives the ecoinnovative

picture of the highest biological and health quality. This is a

picture of food sovereignty. It is still possible picture of the

future of our agriculture and our food.

Very often, eco-innovation in food industry will return to the

best solutions that nature has offered and which we have

forgotten, or which have been eliminated as a result of the

technocratic understanding of the environment. It will also

make use of biomimetics. Nor can we forget that scientific

progress also, and perhaps especially, consists in the study of

phenomena occurring in the environment and in living

organisms in order to optimize and secure their use.

Examples of indicators especially correlated to smart specialisations:

Aviation and cosmonautics

Dynamics of production sold in sectors related to the aviation industry Polish Statistical Classification of Products by Activity.

Quality of life Percentage of passive, zero-energy and energy plus house; the share of renewable energy in total energy production; life expectancy.

ICT

Dynamics of production sold in sectors related to the ICT industry Polish Statistical Classification of Products by Activity; percentage of households with access to broadband Internet; percentage of enterprises that have access to the Internet
