OUR STUDIO IS A CREATIVE PLACE WHERE WE SOLVE PROBLEMS AND DEVELOP INNOVATIVE DESIGNS. WE SPECIALISE IN COMMERCIAL PROJECTS AND LISTEN TO OUR CLIENTS TO UNDERSTAND THEIR BUSINESS OBJECTIVES. OUR WORK RANGES FROM IDENTIFYING OPPORTUNITIES AND GROWING PROJECTS WITH CLIENTS TO PRODUCING CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION AND COMPLETING PROJECTS ON SITE. THIS RANGE REQUIRES THE SKILLS OF MANY PEOPLE IN OUR TEAM WHO SPECIALISE IN DESIGN AND TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION. WE WORK ON PROJECTS ACROSS THE UK AND OVERSEAS AND HAVE EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE IN LEADING DESIGN TEAMS. Norton FolgateTIAA Henderson Real Estate / Complete

No 1 Norton Folgate is a five storey office building built in 1985 and let on a floor by floor basis by small to medium sized companies on a variety of leasing terms. Pod Architects worked on a programme of refurbishment works to upgrade the reception area on Norton Folgate Street, as well as new works to upgrade the common parts and to overhaul the office space to attract new tenants. The aim of the works is to improve the general facility and attract new tenants to higher grade office space.

Medway City Estate, KentKKB Group / Tender

Pod were appointed to design a two-storey new-build office in Rochester, Kent. With sustainability in mind, a natural cross-ventilation system has been integrated into the design. Planning application has been approved and the project is currently out to tender.

Spurstowe Terrace, HackneyCharles Bentley LTD, Tender

Pod Architects developed the concept for this residential block in Hackney, London. The design looks at the potential development opportunities for a mixed-use office and residential scheme on the site to accommodate 27 units with penthouse flats and involves demolition of the existing unused 1970’s training building and the development of a residential building.

86 Fetter Lane, LondonTIAA Henderson Real Estate

This building is a 1990’s office building located in the lively Holborn area. The existing plan is complex and the façade is not inviting. Pod Architects are appointed to replan the floor plates and rework the public areas and façade to rejuvenate the distressed asset for Henderson’s Central London Office Fund (CLOF).

Headquarter building of Lloyds Register of Shipping.

This project is a new build office building in Fenchurch Street, London as the headquarter building of Lloyds Register of Shipping. Part of the work included the refurbishment of a two star listed building. The Architect was Richard Rogers Partnership and the contractor was McAlpine.

Societe Generale, Fenchurch Street, LondonThis pavilion proposal was created as a social event space for Societe Generale for their headquarter building at Tower Hill London GMW were the Architects for the project

Masterplan, AthensThe first purpose built office park / Masterplan in Athens. Designed to UK BCO 2009 office standards. Four character office buildings are entered from a central park with active frontages. Ground works have commenced. GMW were the Architects for the project with Decathalon, a local firm in Athens.

Vodafone, West Berkshire“The Exchange,” is the Vodafone Headquarter in Newbury, West Berkshire. This project was designed to provide an additional office building within their green field context. The briefing process involved the collection of information on how Vodafone as an occupier used their existing office facility. This audit drove efficiencies in the new design proposals. The buildings energy performance aimed for excellence rating in BREEAM certification.

Smart Village, Cairo

Smart Village is the first purposed designed office park in Egypt. It is located on the outskirts of Cairo and includes modern amenity to serve a large international office community. Jim Beggs, a Pod Architect was instrumental in developing the design and specification for a number of office buildings in the masterplan and as a resident in Cairo, he brought both his technical and cultural understanding of the context to the project.

Pearl Assurance HQ

This large scale office community and masterplan was an award winning development (see below) and provided a benchmark for character office buildings in rural settings. Paul Shedden was instrumental in the design and delivery of the original building and subsequently developed a number of schemes to remodel the interiors for use by multi tenants. The building is currently occupied by the TaTa Group.

This building is located in the City of London, in a prime financial street (see left). The project involved a comprehensive refurbishment and a facade retention scheme to a listed building within a conservation area. An additional three story mansard roof containing contemporary office space was successfully agreed with the city planners. A new compact core was designed to achieve a net to gross ratio of high commercial value.

Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage have an ambitious cultural programme to produce projects that embody Emirate culture that will be sustainable and provide legacy. ADACH new office acts as both an administrative facility but also as a new benchmark setting the standards in office design, specifically in terms of open plan workplaces. (see right)

This project was developed to gain a planning consent for a landmark site in Hemel Hempstead, England (see below). The new 8000m2 office building was to be situated in a large plot that included a new hotel and parking at grade. The office is an efficient modular design and is designed to meet the BCO standards. The plan form and orientation were developed to create a naturally ventilated building.
