STATED MEETING
Myrtle Chapter #94 met Tues-day, November 14, for their regular stated meeting. WM Sis. Helen Plucknett welcomed everyone with a poem about fall. WP Bro. Allen Plucknett shared some thoughts about what men say versus what men mean. Some examples. “Can I help with dinner?” really means, “Why isn’t it already on the table?” and “Take a break, you are working to hard” really means, “I can’t hear the game over the vacuum. A peti-tion for a new member was read, and a committee appointed.
Elections were held, and only one vote for each office was needed! Bro. David Mickey nominated Bro. Allen to be As-sociate Secretary – and he was unanimously voted in!
Sis. Norma Brown sent in 1000 Best Choice labels, and the chapter received a $60 check. Keep collecting those labels.
Kensington provided a won-derful snack made and served by Sis. Lorraine Voyles, Sis. Mary Mills, and Sis. Norma.
Sis. Mary filled in as Esther. Sis. Janet Sides filled in as Associ-ate Matron.
THOUGHTS AND CONCERNS
Bro. Bob Wunder had sur-gery for a blockage on Oct. 13. He went home on the 18th and is recuperating. He also recently had knee replacement surgery and is recovering from that as well.
Sis Mary Lois Hall was hospitalized on Oct. 25 and is now at Tabitha Hospice.
Bro. Everett Way fell and fractured his hip and was hospital-ized for six weeks. He is now home recuperation.
Sis. Liz Sawyer had tests Nov. 16.
Bro. Dick McPhearson was diagnosed with bladder cancer. He is currently at the Alzheimer’s center in Fairbury.
Bro. Wade Kendle’s brother, Rusty Kendle, is serving in Iraq. He is currently in the Sunni triangle, a known hot-zone. Wade visits with him regularly online.
UPCOMING EVENTS
Past Matrons and Past Pa-trons had a dinner on Nov. 28 at Bennigan’s.
Next Stated meeting is Dec. 12 and everyone is encouraged to dress in Christmas attire.
Fri., Dec. 19 at 7:00 pm Sis. CaraLynne Livingston will be installed at Job’s Daughter’s Bethel 27 as the Honored Queen.
CELEBRATIONS
Sis. Dorthea Irwin’s grand-daughter was recently installed as Worthy Matron in Kansas City. She
is using the family Bible, which lists the family history in Eastern Star: her mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother are all members. She is also wearing her great-grandmother’s pin.
Sis. Jeannie Akeson cel-ebrated her 82nd birthday on Nov. 18. She had an Open House at the Community Church.
Sis. Helen and Bro. Allen’s son and grandson are visiting them from Florida for the week.
Bro. Jim Weir is now home from Florida, and will be here until around New Year’s.
Sis. Lorriane Voyle’s birthday was Nov. 25.

BROTHER DUANE ACKLIE HONORED
Our Bro. Duane Acklie, who recently completed a year of service as senior advisor to the U.S. mission to the 60th session of the United Nations General Assembly, was honored at a Distinguished Nebraskan Award Reception November 14th in Washington, D.C.. Held at the offices of the American Trucking Association, the event was sponsored by The Nebraska Society of Washington, D.C., a group that works to “strengthen the cultural ties that bind Nebraskans together in the greater Washington D.C. area…”
Earlier this fall , Bro. Duane and his wife, Phyllis, were instrumental in bringing U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton and his wife, Gretchen, to Lincoln for Ambassador Bolton’s talk on September 8th. His appearance was the first in the 2006-07 series of the E.N. Thompson Forum on World Issues, a long-running lecture series held at the Lied Center for Performing Arts.

FUN NIGHT
Members, families and guests gathered in our Temple dining room November 14th for our annual Family Fun Night. We started with a covered dish dinner and then played Bingo for prizes of hams and turkeys. With kids and grand kids, it was a lively evening and fun for all.
CORRECTION
An editorial gremlin got into my correspondence last month and misidentified the rifle used by Air Force ROTC Cadet Leibbrandt in his superb manual-of-arms demonstration at our October 17th Table Lodge. The rifle is a ceremonial, non-f i r ing, Springfield M1903, which was the Army’s standard weapon about 100 years ago.

Public Relations starts with everybody. It may seem strange to you to hear this from a member of a Lodge. Each of us is a salesman for our Lodge. If we are a part of the Lodge that is meeting on a regular basis we need to put forth an image of just who we are and what we stand for. That image is our public relations during any meeting or anytime we are talking about Masonry. If the Lodge does a poor job at holding a simple business meeting, degree work or a social function, then we are giving our public and our brothers a poor public relations image. If we are organized and friendly our PR efforts will be recognized and noticed. More members and potential members will want to come back and get more involved with the Lodge.
I have been reading a book “Creating Customer Evangelists” by Ben McConnell that deals with public relations and how each of us sells our product no matter what that product is – in this case Masonry. A guest enters your Lodge - what does he see? Disorganization ? Non-friendly atmosphere? A poorly-run meeting? If so, you can bet that guest will not be back. He will seek another avenue to share his talents. It only takes a little work on each member’s part to make a regular meeting, degree or social function a positive experience for a brother or guest.
Each and every one of us sells our fraternity every day. How well we sell the fraternity will determine how well our Lodge succeeds and gains more members and supporters of our Lodge.

Approximately forty five Past Matrons and Past Patrons met at George Washington Lodge for a catered dinner on Sunday, November 24th. We welcomed several Grand Officers, Sis. Betty Kirby, Worthy Grand Matron; Sis. Wanda Fisher, Grand Conductress; Sis. Meredith Edwards, Grand Martha; Bro. Lowell Erickson, Grand Marshal and Past Grand Matron Mary Lou Erickson. We were also honored to have Past Grand Patrons, Brothers Robert Marks and Don Jelinek.
Sis. Charlotte Contatore, President called the meeting to order. Bro. Don Jelinek gave the invocation.
We were interrupted by a cleaning lady who came to clean the Lodge (Mary Lou Erickson) who proceeded to entertain everyone with
a hilarious monologue. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed her antics.
Fol lowing d inner and our entertainment, the minutes of the previous meeting were read by Sis. Marilyn Jepson.
Election of Officers – The following officers were elected for next year: President, Bro. Mike Berger; Vice President Sis. Ilah Anderson and Secretary-Treasurer, Sis. Mary Louise Dutcher.
Bro. Don Jelinek led us in a very nice memorial service. He read the names and Chapters numbers of our departed Brothers and Sisters.

Dues for all Masonic Lodges for 2007 were due Jan. 1. Send payment to your Lodge Secretary. Members with unpaid dues will be delinquent March 1. Suspension by Grand Lodge comes April 30. Suspen-sion in Lodge also means suspension in Eastern Star, York Rite, Scottish Rite and Shrine.
Look at your dues card. If it does not say 2007, send payment today to your Secretary.
Eastern Star dues also were due Jan. 1. Send dues to your Chapter Sec-retary. Unpaid members will become delinquent Oct. 1, with suspension Dec. 31.

Sis. Sharon Yockers, PM, and Sis. Brenda Collins attended the Fall Tea, held in the dining hall of Temple Chapter (Scottish Rite Temple). The tables were simply beautiful with all the gorgeous tea-sets, the food was wonderfully delicious, and the fellowship shared was delightful. We hope that in 2007 Electa Chapter can have a full table, or more, attend. It was a most enjoyable, and relaxed afternoon.

November was the month for the “Shoe” to arrive for a very special member of Electa. Betty Pauley, PGM, received the “Shoe” with a wonderful tribute to this very gracious, and knowledgable woman. It was attributing her for being a guide, and jewel for Electa, and for being a real “Lady”. Who will be the next recipient? It could be you!
ILLNESS / DEATHS
Sis. Denise Lagueux, PM, had knee surgery in mid-November, and has been home recovering. Sis. Betty Pauley, PGM, had surgery, and is recovering nicely at her home. Sis. Edna Zuhike injured her wrist and forearm. She is home recovering, and doing physical therapy.
It is with sadness of the chapter to report the death of Sis. Ida Pederson, a 50+ year member. The Eastern Star service was performed at her memorial service. Our prayers and condolences go out to her family and friends.

DEATHS We are sorry to report the
death of Sis. Lillian Jewell, P.M. who celebrated her 100th birthday on March 6th of this year. Sis. Lillian died on Sunday, Novem-ber 13th after a lengthy illness. Graveside services were held on Tuesday. Sis. Lillian served as Worthy Matron in 1977.
Paul Gulbranson, 18 year old son of Sis. Karen and Bro. Larry Gulbranson was killed in an accident in Ashland, Nebraska on Saturday, November 11th. This is a terrible tragedy for Sis. Karen and Bro. Larry as they also lost their oldest son a number of years ago.
KENSINGTON
Twelve members gathered on Saturday morning November 11th for their regular meeting. It is the custom that the Worthy Grand Matron’s Chapter prepare and serve the meals of the District Supervisor’s School of Instruc-tion. This is to be held January 14 through the 16th.
Preliminary plans were also discussed for the George and Mar-tha Washington Annual Dinner. It was decided to change the menu this year so make plans to attend this yearly dinner. There will be more about it as we get closer to February. We will have the tradi-
tional cherry pie for all except the Worthy Matron who prefers apple. We may put a little red color in it so no one knows she is eating something different. Oh, and yes, we will have sugar free pies for those can’t have sugar.
STATED MEETING
The December 1st stated meeting was opened in form with Sis. Paula Beezley, Worthy Matron presiding along with Bro. John Kirby, Worthy Patron. All business was taken care of in an orderly fashion.
Plans for the District Grand Supervisor’s School of Instruction beginning January 14, 15 and 16th were finalized. We are responsible for preparing the food.
INSTALLATION
W.M. Elect Sis. Shellie Smith shared some of the plans for the January 6th Installation of Officers. There will be a pot luck dinner on Friday evening followed by the practice for Installation. Meat will be furnished so everyone else can bring their favorite dish.
ILLNESS & DISTRESS
We are sorry to report that Sis. Vi Erway suffered a heart at-tack in late November. She spent a few days in the hospital but is back in her apartment at Legacy Estates. She is now able to go to the dining room for her meals.
Sis. Clarice Brown is back in her apartment at the Grand Lodge after a couple of weeks in assisted living. She is now able to walk with a walker and came to the Christmas dinner.
The 18-year old son of Sis. Karen and Bro. Larry Gulbranson was killed in an automobile accident in Ashland in November. Paul was an energetic young man and spent a lot of time at our Chapter with his mother while growing up. Paul is the second son of the Gulbransons
to be killed in an automobile ac-cident. What a tragedy.

Sis. Tory Tuhey was elected Secretary of the National Collective Bargaining Association in con-nection with the Nebraska School Association.
CHRISTMAS PARTY
Twenty-seven gathered at the Beezley’s for dinner on Sun-day evening, December 10th. We dined on
Roast Turkey with all the trimmings plus a big array of beau-tiful salads and luscious desserts. Three young future Masons joined us, Scott and Tyler Adams and Tyler Smith. The boys kept us all informed of the football scores!
MEMORIAL SERVICE
The Charter was draped in memory of the following members of our Chapter.
Sis. Mary Kearns – Sis. Mary was initiated in May 1929 and passed away February 7, 2006. She would have celebrated her 100th birthday in just two weeks. Sis. Mary served as Organist several times. She was a faithful member and active at all of the affairs of the Chapter until about a month before her death.
Sis. Velma Buettgenbach was initiated April 20, 1967. She never held an office. Her daughter, grand-daughter and great granddaughter are all members of the Chapter. She passed away February 4, 2006.
Sis. Marlene Mick was initi-ated March 1957. Sis. Marlene served as Star Point Adah for several years and remained active in the Chapter. She passed away April 26th, 2006.
Sis. Lillian Jewell was initi-ated March 26, 1968. She served as several Star Points and as Worthy Matron in 1978. She celebrated her 100th birthday March 6, 2006. She passed away November 12, 2006.

It’s been a while since North Star Lodge has been represented in these pages. This correspondent has been on the road most of the summer and this early fall. It’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it. It’s good to see the old rag is up and running again.
ANNUAL LADIES NIGHT
The North Star Lodge Annual Ladies Night was held October 28 with 50 plus in attendance. Prime rib was served thanks to WB Steve Wetzel’s direction and able kitchen crew of WB Mike Buttz and Bro. Keith Brocksmith and WB Larry Gulbranson. WM Harry Storz pre-sented the following awards. WB Charles Adams was presented with his 50 pin and was accompanied by his sons WB Ken and Bro. Gale Adams. Bro. Vance James was presented his 60 year pin as was Bro. Frank (Dutch) Meyer by proxy. Bro. Dick Meyer and WB George Sawyer accepted the pin for Bro. Frank and as they were to visit him at his home in Salisbury NC within the week. Bro. Charles Slagle was presented a Special Service Award for his generosity in providing funds to off set the cost of obtain-ing a perpetual membership for the members of North Star Lodge.

Election of Officers was part of the November Business Meeting. Those elected are as follows: Bro.
Pat Sulley as Master, Bro. Keith Brocksmith as SW, Bro. Karel Capek, as JW, WB John Kirby was reelected as Treasure, WB Steve Wetzel reelected as Secretary and WB Bob Tooker reelected to Trustee. I suspect since we have new officers elected to the top three offices and no retreads, an open installation will be held at a date to be announced in January.
WB Harry Storz has sched-uled a Table Lodge for 6:30 pm, December 20.
As I write this column the elections are finally over. I’ve heard many complain about the lies and outrageous claims made by the candidates. My reply is simply this. We are sending those country lads to Washington DC, the very center of “professional mendacity” where prevarication is a refined and honored art form. If they are going to compete with the likes of the politicians from New York, Massachusetts and California, they need to spar a little. Lying is an art form not a science, therefore one needs to practice at every op-portunity. What can it hurt?
I need to plug the fact I became a grandpa. Our daughter Nicole (PHQ Bethel 27) and son in law Tim presented us with Averie Leigh, October 15. I can’t wait to teach her how to drink, smoke, chew, cuss and cheat at cards.

On behalf of North Star Lodge No. 227, Bro. Dick Meyer had the honor of presenting his brother, Dr. Frank “Dutch” Meyer with his 60-year Masonic pin. The presentation took place at the Lutheran Home in Salisbury, NC, where Dutch, and his wife Maggie, are residents. Their sister, Liz Sawyer, of Myrtle Chapter, was also present, as were Dutch’s son Mary of Boca Raton, FL and daughter Wendy Goodwin of Henderson, NC.
While in North Carolina, Bro. Dick and Sis. Liz also attended the dedication of the Meyer Auxiliary Gymnasium, named in honor of Bro. Dutch. After receiving his bachelor’s degree from UNL, his master’s degree from the University of Colorado, and his doctorate from the University of West Virginia, Dutch went to Catawba College where he was a professor from 1969 to 2005. He received many honors and recognitions while at Catawba College. He was also active in the community. Dutch and Maggie have been married since 1955 and have three children.

DRAIN A GLASS FOR . . . . . . our lodge secretary!
Returning readers know I’ve been singling out parties to recognize for their mammoth efforts to keep our lodge running lively. Today we recognize a man in a vital office.
WBro. Wade Kendle made a fascinating presentation at our Dec. 7 business meeting of what we paid in dues, fees, salaries, and so on in the 1940s. Then he adjusted these figures for inflation. In all cases we now are paying less, sometimes considerably less, for our Masonry. The most staggering sum was what we would be paying our lodge secretary. I don’t remember the figure exactly, but I felt it would just about cover yearly housing costs these days—if you allowed a kind of bohemian lifestyle. [editor’s note: The sum paid to the secr in 1947 was $900.00, adjusted for inflation it would be over $7200.00 in today’s dollars.]
So we thank RWB. Bruce Watkins for his thick work in these days of thin recognition to the duties of a lodge secretary.
RECENT WORK
Since I last lifted my pen to write you about the events of Liberty 300, we have conferred the Master Mason degree on Bro. Leon Kilmer on Nov. 16. Bro. Mark Alan Eliker has been initiated (Nov. 30) and passed (Dec. 14).
UPCOMING EVENTS
On Thurs. Jan. 18 and Thurs. Jan. 25 we are doing degree work. Dinner will be served at 6:15 and we tyle at 7:00 sharp. Tentatively, Jan. 18 will be an EA and Jan. 25 a FC degree. Our February
business meeting will be held on the 8th, to avoid a conflict with the Grand Lodge Annual Communication (Kearney) Feb. 1-3.
That’s all I’ve got. It is pretty certain that, by the time this newspaper comes under your reading lamp, we’ll have already held our installation. I warned you it was coming! Again, our elected officers are: WM- Bro. Jim Pischel, SW- Bro. Juston Wendt, JW- Bro. Tom Morrissey Jr., Secy.- RWB. Bruce Watkins, and Treas.- WB. Bob Foreman.
As of this writing our incoming Master, Jim Pischel, has not wrinkled his brow over our lodge calendar for 2007. I will introduce you to his brainchildren in future issues.
POTLUCKS
About a year ago I stood up in the middle of a potluck and said, “Brethren, I hardly remember dining so well!” And they’ve been getting better still. Really—where have you eaten better than at our potlucks?

Recently, Bro. Scott Griffen has been snapping the shutter, and has done very well. I think some formal recognition is in order for a brother or lady who wants to serve a term chronicling the many of events of our lodge with pictures.

At our business meeting on Dec 7th, we celebrated JW Br Juston Wendt’s birthday. Earlier in the day, he informed us that he would not be in attendance as he was celebrating his birthday with his girlfriend. We celebrated anyway. Happy Birthday Juston!!! STATED MEETING
A good crowd attended our stated meeting on December 6, 2006, and we were welcomed by our Worthy Matron, Sis. Terri Sherman. With the help of 5 substitutes the business part of the meeting was taken care of. The substitutes were: Sis. Marsha Michaelson, Adah; Sis. Ruth Beach, Ruth; Sis. Bonnie Mook, Electa; Bro. Carroll Foust, Warder and Bro. Erik Hansen, Sentinel.
Under new business our chapter decided to agree to help with the 50-year members lunch at next years Grand Chapter. The list of members up for suspension was read, unfortunately there was quite a few Sisters and Brothers on the list. The chapter will pay for any 50-year member who’s unable to meet this obligation, and we hope many of the others will take care of this matter before the end of the year.
Sis. Ruth Beach, P.M. reported that the Kensington had met on Dec. 5 and had been entertained by the Lincoln Seniors Choir. She also announced that the P.M’s of our chapter will meet at the home of Sis. Nita Babcock on Dec. 15.

Christmas Pot Luck dinner on Dec. 20, a visit is anticipated by a certain gentleman from the North Pole.
Sis. Mary Kay Retzlaff, P.M. presented a 50-year pin to her mother Sis. Shirley Marks, P.M., it was good to have Sis. Mary Kay come and do this honor for her mother. Congratulations Sis. Shirley, you are a big asset to our chapter and to our organization, having been very active with many of our youth organizatins, in our own chapter and in Grand Chapter as support for your husband Bro. Robert Marks, PGP.
In our chapter it is customary to select a member as “Star of the Year” each year in December. This year this honor went to Sis. Ruth Beach, she was presented with a gift and our W.M. recited a poem “Who Else but a Friend.” Congratulations Sis. Ruth, it was a well deserved honor for you.
W.M. Terri announced that she’s a new grandmother, and also that Sis. Ruth Beach has a new granddaughter. The members with birthdays in December were congratulated and the birthday song sung in their honor. Sis. Terri than thanked the pro tems for the evening and closed with a reading of “When Christmas Comes.”

Sis. LaVern Flowers has been in the hospital, is home now but on Hospice care, and is on oxygen. She’s doing quite well.
Bro. Fred Way, P.P. is not well, he’s currently at Madonna. Fred’s birthday is December 24.

Don Luedke, the husband of Sis. Phyllis Bryan-Luedke passed away in November.

Our Past Master and Past Grand Master John McHenry has been named a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. A.C.T.E.C. is a national association of more than 2500 lawyers who have been affirmed by their peers as having made outstanding contributions to the practice of trust and estate law, according to the Lincoln Journal Star.
Most Worshipful Brother McHenry was Master of our Lodge in 1982, and Grand Master of Masons of Nebraska in 1990. He is a shareholder in the law firm of McHenry, Hazzard, Hansen, Roth & Hupp, P.C., L.L.C. He graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 1973.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST SUCCESSFUL
Our Lodge held its annual pancake breakfast Dec. 2 in our Masonic Temple dining room just hours before Lincoln’s largest parade of the year passed nearby. An estimated total of 110-125 people partook of our pancakes, sausage, and orange juice before facing the sunny but cool Saturday morning weather to watch the Star City Holiday Parade.

Bethel 27 has continued to do a variety of things this past month. We have initiatied two new girls. We worked at the UNL football games by selling consessions . The girls along with some parents and council members served a dinner for Lancaster Lodge #54. Some of our fun activities have been a

A History of DeMolay
Leadership in Nebraska
The DeMolay International Hall of Fame was formed in 1937 by Dad Land to honor outstanding athletes of that time. In 1985, it was reorganized to include senior DeMolays in many fields of endeavor. The first class was inducted in 1986 and included Nebraskans Tom Osborne and E. P. Baruth.
Tom Osborne was a member of Hastings Chapter in Hastings, Nebraska. He played football in high school and at Hastings College. From 1972 until 1997, Osborne served as the head football coach for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Cornhuskers. Coach Osborne retired as the most winning active football coach in NCAA Division I-A. Prior to retiring, he led the Huskers to three national championships in 1994, 1995, and 1997.
E. P. Baruth became a member of Hastings Chapter in 1925. After high school, he enrolled in Hastings College and became a member of track and field activities at the college. He ran in the early Drake Relays.
J. Robert Duncan is Chief Executive Officer of Duncan Aviation in Lincoln, Nebraska. At his induction into the DeMolay Hall of Fame on June 16, 2001, Robert Duncan said, “I credit my family and business success to the values that I was taught—values that include respect for everyone, trusting others, and working as a team. Those values came from my parents, my school, and organizations such as DeMolay. I have always enjoyed and benefited from interaction with others-DeMolay was one of my first experiences in that regard. I would encourage all young people to listen and learn; your values are with you all of your life.”
Ronald W. Roskins was President of the University of Nebraska for many years. After leaving that position, he was appointed by President George Bush to head the U.S. Agency of International Development. When his term ended, he became President and Chief Executive Officer for Action International, Inc. Action International is a super think tank of 35 former heads of state from around the world.

FEBRUARY IS ESTARL MONTH
In an effort to promote the Nebraska Eastern Star ESTARL program, the ESTARL Committee of the Grand Chapter of Nebraska has proclaimed February, 2007 to be ESTARL Month for the state of Nebraska. The members of the committee hope that all Chapters in Nebraska will assist them in taking information to the local churches in each Chapter’s community.
To assist with this effort, the members of the committee have finished two new brochures. Work on the brochures was begun in 2005 under the leadership of Brother Doug Garwood and has been completed by the committee for 2006-2007, with Rev. Gwen-Hurst Anderson of Martha Washington Chapter No. 153 spearheading the project. One of the brochures is specifically directed to those who may be seeking funding for study toward a full-time religious vocation. The second brochure is intended to be a learning and informational tool for members of the Order so that they might be of help to members of their church families in explaining the ESTARL program and finding students who qualify for funding.
The committee plans to distribute these brochures to each Chapter during the month of January. It is hoped that the Chapters will delegate members to visit the local churches in their community and give them a brochure and answer questions about ESTARL during the month of February. The members of the committee will make themselves available when possible to visit Chapters to help inform members about the ESTARL program. February would be an ideal month for Chapters to have a special program inviting someone to talk about the program or perhaps have someone who has benefited from it speak to the members.
ESTARL (Eastern Star Training Awards for Religious Leadership) began in 1952 and most states under the jurisdiction of the General Grand Chapter have developed their own program. In Nebraska the program is funded by a twenty-five cent donation from the membership dues of each Eastern Star member and by generous gifts from the members and the Grand Chapter. Nebraska funds 15 to 30 students per year at an average of $1,000 per grant. Several years ago Nebraska started an Endowment Fund, and members now have the choice of giving to this fund, where the funds are invested and the interest used to fund grants, or of giving in the traditional way where all funds go directly into grants. Anyone studying for full time Christian service who is a Nebraska resident or who at some point has been a legal resident of Nebraska may apply for the grants. The deadline for applications is March 1st of each year. Any member of our Masonic Family knowing of a potential applicant may call the Grand Chapter office at 800-832-9320 for applications and more information. First, on behalf of the leadership of the Masonic News, since I am currently Vice President, let me apologize to you for not having a December issue and lumping December and January into this issue. Life has a way of altering our courses and it has, once again, altered the course of the Masonic News. Our new editor, Mark Turner, who took the reigns in September and has 2 fabulous issues under his belt, is moving to Arizona with his family to be closer to relatives. He’s accepted a job in Pheonix which will enable his wife to stay home with the kids. This has happened so fast that neither the
News, nor Mr. Turner were quite prepared for it. Mark informed me on December 20th that he would be moving and that the move would be completed by the end of the 2nd week of January.
Let me assure you that the Masonic News will continue to be published. I’ve had quite the crash course in putting this publication together over the last few days. I had never used the software required to produce the News until Dec 30th, yet this edition was to the printer on January 1st. I am willing to continue as your editor if the board approves it at the next board meeting which is to be held Monday, January 22nd at 7:00 pm at the Masonic Temple 1635
L St. If you are the Worshipful Master or Worthy Matron of your respective organization, please have a representative at the board meeting. We can not reduce the subscription rate or appoint a new editor unless a quorum is present. At the last board meeting, we had 2 voting members present -- 5 is a quorum.
Finally, I need to appeal to our Masonic Youth and adult leaders of those organizations. Please get the editor an article to be published even if it’s small. We wouild like to keep a Youth only page, but without content, it will disappear. Continue to send correspondence to [email protected].
