REMINDER TO ALL MEMBERS
Lockheed Martin's Workplace Security policy, SEC-003 is strictly enforced. One provision of the policy
is a workplace free of weapons, which includes Firearms, Ammunition, Bows and Arrows. The club must
emphasize this policy to our members. Additionally, a state issued CCW permit does not supersede nor
over ride this LM policy. Members wanting to store firearms or archery equipment during the day
ONLY, must contact Gene Adamson (303-667-2871) for access instructions.
Call Plant Protection (303-977-4646) if you have an incident or injury on the range.
ADDITIONAL REMINDER TO ALL MEMBERS AND RANGE USERS
• Please be careful when driving on the roads, the horses may not move out of your way.
• Gate signs have been added to help make sure it is clear if the gate should be open or closed.
Gate signs are in place indicating when horses are in the pasture. Leave the gate as the sign
says – Open or Closed.
• If you do not have your child’s Hunter Education (HE) or Home Firearm Safety (HFS) Card
you will be turned away from being able to shoot. Run a copy of the card and present it to
the RSO the next time you are out. As these cards never expire, if you provide the copy once,
you should be Ok for the future. If you need to get a copy of your HE card, call the Division
of Wildlife or show a license that has the proof of Hunter Ed verified on it.
OCTOBER CLUB GENERAL MEETING
On Monday, October 13th
we will hold a General Club meeting at the clubhouse at 5:15. We will
have refreshments and BBQ to encourage all you members who are thinking of things that need to
be done to come on out.
We are pulling together several introductory shooting events to allow club members who haven’t
had a chance to do something like Trap or Skeet to have a dedicated session or two to see if they
would like to try it. Find out about those plans and thoughts at the meeting.

RSO HOTLINE, WEBSITE, AND TRAINING!!!

both inside and outside the LM and ULA Networks) A special RSO Training class will be held this
Friday, October 10th
at the clubhouse for anyone wishing to obtain their RSO designation.
PRESIDENT’S CORNER
We are a truly al-volunteer club. Our Board, our Committee personnel, everything is a volunteer job. John
Larue and myself will be doing the club newsletter until we get another volunteer or Scott has time from
his actual full-time job to be able to cover this task. Anyone wanting to help should contact John, Scott or
myself and we’ll be happy to break you in to the newsletter task.
On a more serious note, the Board of Directors has authorized us to take more action to get Range Safety
Officers (RSOs) to take shifts so we don’t have repeats of people showing up at the Range, without
having checked the calendar for RSO coverage) and finding no one there to allow them to shoot. We have
currently almost 160 trained and certified RSOs. We however only have a few actually taking the shifts to
cover the range. We are sending out notices to all RSOs on the list that we are requiring, Yes, Requiring,
RSOs to sign-up for shifts or lose the RSO designation. We are holding a discussion with interested and
currently certified RSOs after the class on Friday to discuss issues they’ve seen and changes to the RSO
program. If you want to participate in that discussion, please be at the clubhouse by 4:30 on the 10th
.
We will be asking for reimbursement of training or mandatory hours for any RSO that has not taken
shifts. We will also be changing the RSO Manual to require that anyone performing an Ad Hoc shift
MUST change the sign at the front gate to so note, or their RSO designation and badge will be rescinded.
The new electronic system is actually coming to be real, so we will also cover training on the new system
at the discussion.
Watch the Event Calendar listing for other RSO meetings we will be planning in the next few weeks to
ensure that a RSOs understand the new responsibilities.
YOU as a regular club member should be able to rely on 160+ members to be able to have at least
weekends and Off-Fridays covered. The company has taken steps in the latest round of activities to ensure
that RSOs have full liability protection for their activities. The task is very easy and straight-forward but
requires people to sign-up.

HOME FIREARM SAFETY

As soon as we have 10 people, we’ll schedule and hold the class.
WORKBOND OPPORTUNITIES:
Contact Norm Viste for workbond opportunities. Currently we need more target frames.
HIGH POWER RIFLE
The SHFC High Power matches are conducted every “Track A” off-Friday, beginning at 8:30 AM
finishing by noon or 1 PM. We welcome all types of high power service or match rifles; some choose to
shoot the Garand or M1A but the AR15 is the choice of most. The club has three AR15s, a Garand, two
shooting mats, and a spotting scope with stand which are available to use during matches. We shoot year-
round, weather permitting.

Successful Moose Hunt
SHFC Member Roger Rieger and his Son Erik went on a very successful moose hunt a few weeks ago in
the Routt National Forest public land area, around Steam Boats Springs, Co. Erik was able to bring
down an excellent bull which yielded approximately 400 Lbs of meat…. Erik used a Browning BAR .300
WinMag to get the job done!!...
Congrats Erik !!!
