It has been a month since I have been your Lieutenant
governor , I hope the transition has been easy and smooth.
But first off, I would like to say a big Congratulations to all
the newly elected executive members. I look forward to
working closely with you this year.
As the school year is coming to an end, your key club
duties are far from being over. I encourage all of you to hold
service projects during the summer. I also highly encourage
you all to attend the rallies held over the summer .
What a great turnout to the May DCM I hope to see
more of you at the June DCM. June DCM would be held on
June 8 at Cultus Lake. More information to follow. If you have
any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me. Finally a
good luck to all AP and IB test takers.

Key Club
This past month has been a busy month for Bateman Key
Club. We hosted our first annual Dusk-2-Dawnathon. Dusk-2-
Dawnathon is a wake over at the school with many fun activi-
ties planned. We had a great turnout and raised over $2600 for
K.C.C.P. Many Bateman Key Clubbers also attended Key
Leader up in Hope at Camp Kawkawa. We learned about ser-
vice leadership and the core values of being a Key Leader.
Bateman Key Club also participated in the annual mushroom
compost fundraiser with Yale and Abby Key Club. The compost
will be sold at Yale, Monday to Friday from 9am to 3 pm for $4 a
bag. The proceed raised will go towards SIGN Fracture care.
On April.20th we participated in Kiwanis One Day with Clear-
brook Kiwanis Club. We helped clean up the Garden of Hope
at the local Salvation Army.

Key Club Yale Key Club
The members of Yale’s Key Club have been very active
during April. Several members attended Key Leader and de-
veloped new perspectives and ideas about service and lead-
ership. On April 6th, we volunteered to clean up landscaping
around seniors housing at the MSA Manor. Additionally, we re-
ceived great response from Hunger Response International
from our contribution at the Walk for the Rice Reason on April
11th. Our Key Club this past year has been very successful
due to much help from the executives. However, it was time
to hold an election for next year’s executives, and they are:
Rachel Lee (president), Angela Li (VP), Soomin Choi (VP),
Sung Il (VP), Gabrielle Krillow (VP), Laura Egolf (secretary),
Jane Kim (treasurer), and Tiffany Hoang (bulletin editor). We
are all very excited and hope to have another amazing year
in Key Club. For the month of May, we have many fun fairs
coming up. Lastly, we received a lot of help from many fan-
tastic people on our annual mushroom compost sale! Come
buy a bag for only $4 from Monday to Friday, 9am – 3pm at
the office of Yale Secondary!
- Rachel Lee
Abby Key Club
This past month the Abby Senior Key Club participated in many
things. One of the things on our agenda was next year’s executive
elections. There was practically no competition for the roles of Presi-
dent, Vice President, Secretary and Editor. However, we had tie after
tie for the Treasurers’ running. The election was very close, but the
one extra vote was for Sam Azizi. The new executive members for
Abby Key Club 2013/14 are Pranav Ayra, Harmeen Khosa, Maegan
McKay, Juan Manalo, Sam Azizi and Tina Ngo. Mid April, nine of our
members travelled to Hope, B.C. to attend Key Leaders Camp
(Camp Kawkawa). They developed leadership skills, personal growth
and the awareness of integrity gaps. The Abby Key Club also partici-
pated in the annual mushroom compost fundraiser with the Yale and
Bateman Key Clubs. This April was supposed to be our 30 hour famine
but there were complications that made the overnight stay not possi-
ble. We solved this problem by gathering the participants at lunch
and asking for their opinion to either do the event that but not be
able to sleep over, or postpone it. At that meeting we came to the
decision of doing a 20 hour fast, and then doing the sleepover at the
school at the end of May. So, that very day we had approximately
forty participants come to the school in the evening for the breaking
of the 20 hour fast. This April bonded our Key Club via numerous fac-
tors and events which will set up success for next year.

GW Graham Key Club
During the month of April Solh Key Club worked on various projects
throughout the month including the annual Kiwanis Compost sale where mem-
bers helped to bag and sell compost to raise funds benefiting both Kiwanis and
Key Club on April 13th and 20th. During the month of April there was volunteer’s
from Solh Key Club who spent time at the local Ruth and Naomi’s Mission Center
where members either prepared or served food to those less fortunate in our com-
munity. Also in the month of April Solh Key Club was very busy dedicating time
to the hosting of or annual 30 Hour Famine that was planned to take place on
April 19th though dude to an unexpected event the 30 Hour Famine is now taking
place on May 31th as a celebration instead. And as President of Solh Key Club I
would like to invite all of the clubs in our division 11/18 C to attend our 30 Hour
Famine Celebration on May 31st at GW Graham Middle Secondary
School from 4:30pm to 9:30pm where our club invites you to take
part in a night of hunger fun! Where the theme of the celebration is Hunger
Games, so be dressed in a costume from one of the districts and ready to partici-
pate in games and enjoying movies. It is not required that you participate in the
famine though we ask that you bring $5 for your admission where that will get
you into games, a movie, snacks and drinks. Solh Key Club hopes to raise as much
funds for this wonderful organization so that together we can help change others
lives for the better. It is a pleasure and an honor to work with the wonderful peo-
ple of Solh Key Club. It is inspirational to see members grow into new leaders and
I am sure that Solh Key Club will continue to help out in our community and
globally.
