The UWI,Continuing Engineering Education Centre (CEEC) of the Engineering Institute of the Faculty of Engineering has for many years conducted professional training courses and workshops in Project Management. The Engineering Institute also coordinates the UWI MSc in Project Management. The Project Management Institute (PMI) admits persons as Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) and Project Management Professional (PMP). The graduate-level PMP credential is one of the most internationally recognized certificates in project management and is in high demand throughout the world as a basis for employment in the project management field. The Project Management Institute (PMI) offers the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) and the Project Management Professional (PMP) credentials to recognize an individual’s demonstrated understanding of the knowledge and skills to lead and direct project teams and to deliver results within the constraints of schedule, budget, resources and quality. Candidates for the PMP credential ensure that all aspects of the project plan are executed and that progress and variances are properly addressed and communicated. PMP/CAPM EXAMINATION PREPARATION COURSE (includes lectures on the use of Microsoft Project 2016) This Examination Preparation course for the Project Manage- ment Professional (PMP) or the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) Examinations is based on Project Manage- ment Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Ver 5) and will be conducted by the UWI Continuing Engineering Education Centre over eight Saturday sessions (8.30 a.m. to 4 p.m.) commencing on Satur- day February 11th. 2017 (56 PDUs). PMP Examination Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible for the PMP credential, you must meet certain educational and professional experience requirements. All project management experience must have been accrued prior to your application submission (as follows): Persons may participate in-class or on-line and all lectures will be video recorded and can be accessed on the web from any Caribbean country, by registered course participants, after each session, for viewing or reviewing. The syllabus for both the CAPM and the PMP examinations is based on the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK ver 5). This is not a software-based training course, but software tools (Mind Manager and Microsoft Project) will be used to reinforce the learning process. Educational Background High school diploma, Associate degree or equivalent. Project Scheduling Experience Minimum of five years/60 months unique non-overlapping professional project management experience during which at least 7,500 hours were spent leading and directing project tasks. Project Scheduling Education 35 contact hours of formal education in project manage- ment. OR Educational Background Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Project Scheduling Experience Minimum three years/36 months unique non-overlapping professional project management experience during which at least 4,500 hours were spent leading and directing project tasks.
