INTRODUCTION

WHAT IS PMJDY?

PMJDY is a National Mission on Financial Inclusion

i.e., to ensure financial access to every citizen of

the country.

It is launched by Prime minister Narendra Modi on

28th August 2014.

Jan Dhan Yojana means ‘people money scheme’.

The slogan is “Mera khata bhagya vidhata” – my

bank account,the creator of good fortune.

AIM OF PMJDY

To bring the financially excluded people into

banking system.

To cover both rural and urban areas.

To rise the Indian economy

To decrease the corruption in India.

BENEFITS UNDER PMJDY SCHEME

Can be opened with zero balance.

Not required to maintain minimum balance.

Interest on deposit.

Accidental insurance coverage of Rs. 1 lakh

Life insurance cover of Rs.30,000/-

Easy transfer of money across India

Beneficiaries of Government Schemes will get

Direct Benefit Transfer in these accounts.

Access to Pension, insurance products.

Rupay debit card

Overdraft facility upto Rs.5000/- after usage of

account for 6 months.

HOW TO OPEN AN ACCOUNT?

Account in this scheme can be opened in any

authorized bank branch.

(Or)

A Bank Mitr outlet- specially designed for the

purpose of opening the accounts under this

scheme.

Any Indian citizen above the age of 10 is eligible to

open an account under this scheme.

Any one of the following are required:

Aadhar card

Voter ID Card

Driving license

PAN card

Passport

Universal access to banking facilities in all areas.

Providing Basic Banking Accounts and RuPay Debit

card which has inbuilt accident insurance cover of

Rs.1 lakh and overdraft facility.

Expansion of Direct Benefit Transfer(DBT) under

different government schemes.

Financial Literacy Programme.

PHASE II (15TH AUG 2015- 14TH AUG 2018)

Providing micro-insurance to the people.

Unorganized sector pension schemes like

swavalamban.

Creation of Credit Guarantee Fund for coverage of

defaults in A/Cs with overdraft limit up to Rs.

5,000/
