[TOM DONALD]
-
I have recently completed the
third year of my BA degree at
Plymouth College of Art. I have
been studying graphic design for
over five years, and have already
gained a triple distinction
National Diploma in Graphic Design
& Illustration.
My aim is to provide fresh and
simple work in three specialist
areas; identities, stationery and
websites.
I intend to achieve a youthful yet
classic outlook, with a diverse
range of work. I am able to
acknowledge the individual needs
of every client, and reflect a
memorable identity for the brand.

I’m a 24 year old design fanatic
living and breathing my craft.
When I’m not designing for the
biggest names in the music
industry I’m working out new
ways of breaking the mould
and improving my skills. I am
a published Photoshop expert
with extensive knowledge of
the software. I am also a keen
illustrator and typographer and
love to do everything by hand
before tweaking it to perfection
on the computer.
After graduation I want to
freelance by night and work in
a studio by day so that I am
gaining influence from multiple
sources and expanding my design
vocabulary.

Challenging my creative capacity
with every brief is where I
achieve my aspirations.
Before studying at Plymouth
College of Art I had studied
within fine art, photography and
fashion design. I always try to
bring all the different elements
and media from these subjects into
my graphics work to achieve the
most original work possible.
Throughout my study on BA Hons
Graphic Design programme, I have
found my strengths within motion,
editorial and print design, and
wish to develop these skills
further within the industry after
completion of my degree.

The work on
exhibit has been
brought through
my interests
within informal
learning and how
creativity can
help to create
alternative and
unique learning
methods.

Colour and Light are key elements
which fuel my aspirations within
design. Creating something
visually stimulating yet uniformed
and balanced is my constant goal.
These aspects really shape how
something is viewed. Photography
is another key skill I constantly
explore and play with. Studying
Surface design and Graphic design
throughout my degree has created
a varied and fast paced learning
journey. Using my knowledge from
these two different specialist
areas has led to exploring the
Adobe programs in depth. These
pro-active and progressive
qualities I attain will hopefully
nourish and assist my journey into
the industry.

Louis Dyer is a graphic designer
currently residing in Plymouth.
He has an overriding goal to
provide the Mind-Body-Spirit
market a face-lift and bring it
into the 21st century. Louis
has effectively produced design
solutions for new and old digital
platforms such as digital books/
magazines, apps and websites
in which this specific market
currently lacks either presence or
strong design.
His next steps are to build on
these experiences, and create
his own online business that
specialises is designing solutions

I am passionate about what I do,
reliable and motivated to be able
to create a high quality design
solution for any brief. Over
the past three years I have been
building my skills, developing
my knowledge of a wide range of
Adobe programmes, in addition to
screen printing, photography and
installation work. I specialise
in hand drawn typography and
illustrative techniques and
have been concentrating on
these areas throughout my BA
year. After I graduate I hope
to work for a design studio or
company; taking on a wide range
of creative challenges to stretch
my capabilities and expand my
existing portfolio and skills.

Throughout my education I have
developed a mix of skills. From
being an illustrator to motion
designer, to graphic designer and
finally to 3d visual artist. I am
keen to learn new skills all the
time and to develop the skills I
have.
My main focus within my work is
using programs such as 3ds max to
create a 3d environment which is
developed into an almost photo
realistic image.
My aspiration is now to develop
my skills within the world of
3d, advancing in the building
of scenes and to develop skills
within animation.

[ROSS PENROSE]
-
I’m Ross Penrose and I come from a
small village on the south coast
of Cornwall.
Hand rendered typography has been
one of the main areas of design
that I’ve worked in through out
my 3 years at Plymouth College of
Art but in the 3rd year I decided
to try something different in the
form of 3D model design. My major
project focused around Channel 4’s
series Inside Natures Giants, I
designed and made to scale, slot
models for three of the featured
animals, as well as, a hard back
illustrated book to accompany the
animal. This is all cleanly put
together in an educational pack.

Hello, through my studies and
personal development over the
last few years I have begun to
gain the knowledge of what makes
a successful web presence and
how users interact with media
devices. This has helped me in
designing well-planned websites,
not just in layout but also with
user movement. I have a wide
range of design skills but I am
now concentrating on expanding my
skills in web design, mobile web
design and interactive publishing,
but with a keen eye on overall
branding.
I am looking at a career in
interactive design for new media,
specializing in mobile web and app
design.

The work I create within design
involves the combination of hand-
drawn and mixed media practices
through the use of typography and
image. I like to experiment with
these techniques in contrast to
the style of modern simplicity.
Many aspects of my life have
inspired and encouraged me to
work within these ways, another
contributors would be my previous
knowledge within the practices
of Fine art and Textile design.
I am constantly influenced by
many aspects of everyday life
such as boutiques, quirky shops,
fashion trends, food, lifestyle,
paper designs and animals. I
have a range of skill sets such
as product and packaging design,
branding, publishing, print,
typography and web design.
