Heating Engineer / Specialised Craftsperson (Plumber or Heating Engineer) / Skilled Operative. Level 2 plumbing and heating qualification is designed for anyone who wants to become a plumber or domestic heating engineer. It provides all the basic domestic heating and plumbing training you need to start work in the industry. Level 3 plumbing and heating qualification is aimed at anyone who has already completed the Level 2 qualification, or who already has some relevant experience and knowledge. If you choose gas-related units at Level 3 you will achieve the Gas Safe licence to practise on successful completion of the course. If you complete a Level 2 Apprenticeship, you may be able to progress onto Level 3. Mandatory unit

- Current Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and regulations applicable to work in the gas industry- Safe gas and electrical installation, commissioning, decommissioning and/or ongoing service and repair procedures of gas installations and appliances needed to establish the safe operation of the equipment and installation in accordance with industry standards- Gas and electrical theories and procedures involved in the practical installation, commissioning, decommissioning and/or ongoing service and repair of gas installations, appliances and associated equipment.

Assessments are carried out in your workplace. Our assessor will come and assess you in your job role.

Do I already need to have a job to start an apprenticeship?

Can I start an apprenticeship after Year 11?

Yes, you can! Young people in England must stay in education or training until they turn 18. If you’re looking for a different option after Year 11, an apprenticeship could be the answer for you!

How much does an apprenticeship cost?

There is no cost for you to do an apprenticeship if you are 16 years old or over and you will be paid a wage.
