Plovdiv is a province in Central Southern Bulgaria, onе of the 28 Bulgarian provinces. It comprises 18 municipalities; its administrative centre is Plovdiv. The province is 5972,9 km2. 754,759 people live in this district and the governor is Ivan Totev.

The province includes parts of the Upper Thracian Plain, the Rhodopes, Sredna Gora, the Sub-Balkan valleys and Stara Planina, including its highest peak Botev (2, 376m).

There are a lot of sprigs and that’s why there are several major spa resorts such as: Hisarya, Narechen and Banya.

There are many natural landmarks, especially in the Central Balkan National Park, including the spectacular waterfall Raysko Praskalo(124,5m), the highest in the Balkans.

A lot of ancient Thracian tombs are also found in the province. For example the Starosel tomb. Starosel is mainly known for being rich in ancient Neolithic and Thracian sites, with finds dating as far back as the 5-6 millennium BC. In Antiquity the village was an important and wealthy Thracian city. The largest underground temple in the Balkans is found under the Chetinyova Mogila (tumulus), along with a mausoleum. The temple as well as nearby Thracian king's residence under Mount Kozi Gramadi were probably built during the reign of Amatokos II (359-351 BC).
