GREETINGS FROM THE DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS UT MARTIN ATHLETICS FACILITIES Hello Skyhawk Fans, I am excited to be a part of UT Martin Athletics. I look forward to continued success for our teams and our student-athletes, but I also know your support of these student-athletes is vital to their success both in the classroom and on their playing fields. Whether you have been a part of UT Martin Athletics for a long time or you are brand new to Skyhawk Club, we appreciate your interest and contributions to these student-athletes. It is most definitely a great time to be a UT Martin Skyhawk as our teams continued to excel in 2016-17. The Skyhawk cross country/track and field programs were regionally ranked for the first time ever while producing the OVC cross country champion for the second straight year and the program’s first NCAA Nationals track qualifier. The UT Martin men’s basketball program tied the school record for wins (22) en route to winning the OVC West division and making the postseason for the third straight year. The Skyhawk softball team came in second place in the OVC standings while advancing to the national postseason for the first time since 2012. The UT Martin football team finished second in the OVC and claimed the Sgt. York Trophy for the third consecutive season while the Skyhawk tennis team also placed second in the OVC and produced the most All-OVC honorees (three) in the conference. UT Martin golf accounted for its third straight OVC individual champion while taking part in the NCAA Regional for the third consecutive season. The Skyhawk baseball program set a school record for most wins in the Division-I era (25) and made the OVC Tournament for the first time since 2011. The UT Martin rifle and equestrian programs each boasted an All-American while the Skyhawk soccer, volleyball and women’s basketball programs produced a combined six All-OVC recipients. The UT Martin rodeo program had seven cowboys and cowgirls qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo. Not only do our Skyhawk student-athletes excel on the playing field, they are also excelling in the classroom. We are proud to share that 35 student- athletes graduated during spring semester. Additionally, 171 student- athletes were represented on the Dean’s List this past semester. These student-athletes are not only excelling on their fields of play and in the classroom, they are also giving back to this community, contributing over 3,900 hours of community service this past year. Good things are ahead and with your help, the dreams of these student- athletes can become a reality. On behalf of me, our staff and our 375 student-athletes, thank you for all that you do for UT Martin Athletics. As we look to the 2017-18 season with high expectations, we look forward to seeing you in the stands. In closing, please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about our Skyhawk Club. And yes, I am proud to say I am a UT Martin Skyhawk!
