Setting:

1947

The action of the play unfolds in and around a two-story corner house on a street named Elysian Fields. Stanley and Stella Kowalski live in a ground-floor apartment, which is rented from Eunice and Steve Hubbell who live on the second floor.

Synopsis of Scenes:

Scene 1 Dusk in early May

Scene 2 Six o’clock, the following evening

Scene 3 Poker party. Well after midnight that same night

Scene 4 The following morning

Ten Minute Intermission

Scene 5 An evening in August

Scene 6 About 2 a.m. that same night

Scene 7 Late afternoon in mid-September

Scene 8 Three-quarters of an hour later

Scene 9 Later that same evening
