Class Placement Students taking dance classes should feel confident, successful, and challenged. Students will be evaluated and may be moved to a different class to better match their skill level up to 6 weeks after classes begin. Age, maturity, dance experience, and level of ability will be considered. Class placement is at the sole discretion of the JCB staff. Trial Classes All currently registered and new to JCB recreational dancers are able to attend 1 free trial class at no charge. JCB offers 3 additional trial classes for $29.00 and all must be attended within 2 weeks of signing up for trial classes.

Classes Offered Ballet & RAD A wide variety of ballet techniques will be taught incorporating classical movements. This dance form places great emphasis on body placement and posture to strengthen each dancer. Music will include classical to modern pieces to allow for a number of dance interpretations. Contemporary The fusion of modern dance elements with elements of ballet. Contemporary takes form with abstract, unpredictable movement, speed and rhythmic changes and classical technique. Jazz Using contemporary music, jazz incorporates ballet technique in its high-energy moves, ensuring body placement and posture. Jazz dancing is a form of dance that showcases a dancer’s individual style and originality. Every jazz dancer interprets and executes moves and steps in their own way. Jazz/Hip Hop Hip Hop is both a musical genre and a culture. Hip Hop is a lifestyle that includes its own language, music, wardrobe style and style of dance. We are now offering an exclusive class for boys who are interested in the genre. Tap Characterized by the clicking sounds of heels and toes using the floor for percussion, This American style was born in the “roarin’ 20’s” and places importance on posture to produce proper and powerful sound Acro A specialized discipline combining jazz technique and acrobatic tricks. Kinder Dance Movement A combination class incorporating introductions to ballet and jazz. Classes will focus on movement and positioning in a manner suitable for young children. Dancers will learn a choreographed routine to showcase at the end of the season. Kinder Acro Classes will introduce stretching and age appropriate acro tricks. Acro dance incorporates tricks along with jazz transitions. Dancers will learn a choreographed routine to showcase at the end of the season. Combo Classes A combo class runs 1.5 hours and dancers will learn technique and choreography in tap, acro and jazz/hip hop. Students will execute a choregraphed routine in 2 of the 3 disciplines for the end of season performance.

JCB Recreational Program Agreement

Financial Responsibility:

• All participants must register with a credit card on file. • For payment by instalment a credit card or post-dated cheques for each instalment amount must

be provided at time of registration as insurance of payment.

• If you choose to alter your method of payment from credit card to cash, debit or e-transfer it is your responsibility to make this alternative payment BEFORE the upcoming instalment due date.

• Your credit card will be processed on instalment dates if no alternate method of payment is chosen/paid BEFORE the upcoming instalment due date.

• You have been provided with a fee instalment schedule. Please make a note of when fees will be processed.

• Fees will be processed by credit card or deposited cheques on the day of each instalment due date. • Your credit card will be charged the fees outlined at registration unless you make alternate

arrangements PRIOR to each upcoming instalment due date.

Refunds/Withdraw

• JCB Danceworks does not offer refunds on class fees, costume fees or administrative/new student fees.

• Withdraw from program: • Withdraw from program is required to be given in a written notice via email by no later than

November 22nd, 2021 or your next payment scheduled on Dec.1st will be processed. • Those who have paid in full and have notified of withdraw by no later than November 22nd, 2021

will receive a credit calculated from Dec.1st and on toward account or if a refund is requested of this amount it will be returned by a mailed cheque.

• All return of funds will incur a $45 processing fee. • After Dec. 1st, 2021 there are no refunds for withdraw from classes.

Commitment to Recreational Dance Season

• The Recreational Dance Season Runs from September to May annually, it does not operate in sessions or terms.

• Within this dance season commitment I will ensure my daughter/son is in attendance on a weekly basis. • I understand that the first 4 months of the season will develop fundamental dance knowledge and

ability • I understand that the last 4 months of the season will continue development and introduce a

choreographed routine that my child will perform at the end of the season and attendance is crucial to the progression of choreography.

• JCB Danceworks does not offer make up classes for classes missed. • All recreational class programming will run in studio as well as on Zoom weekly • If you are not able to attend in-studio, zoom is the alternative option • If your family will be away for an extended period of time JCB does not offer refunds or make up

classes after return of absence.

• I understand that all children progress and learn at different pace, I understand that JCB faculty are all inclusive and ensure all children experience and perform their greatest strengths. I will avoid comparing my child’s positioning with another. I will not interfere with teachings but if I have any concerns or questions I will direct them to the JCB Administrative team who will help you address the above mentioned.

• I am aware my dancer will perform in an end of season presentation in early May. JCB Danceworks will post show your specific performance days and times in February.

• It is assumed that all those who register for classes (where applicable) will perform in the end of season presentation. If you learn you will not be able to have your dancer attend the end of season presentation we must be notified by email 3 weeks prior to February 1st. Charges will be incurred for late notice (notification after January 4th). There are no refunds provided for either class fees or costume fees. Advanced notice must be given as the teachers may have to adjust choreography as well our costume coordinator must be aware.

• At times classes may be video-taped or photographed and posted to our social media platforms on Instagram @jcbdanceworks and on our Facebook page “JCB Danceworks”. I hereby grant permission for my child to be photographed or filmed (by teachers or parents) while participating in classes or recitals with JCB Danceworks. I also grant permission for my child’s photograph or video to be used for promotional/instructional material including the JCB Danceworks website, social media or brochure. By agreeing to the waiver, I hereby state that I am the legal guardian of said child.

• I hereby waive claims to injury or loss to person or property during participation in classes, rehearsals, performances, recitals or any other JCB Danceworks activities, and release, discharge and save harmless promoters, directors, agents and instructors from any liability for injury, damage or loss to property or person whatsoever, which may be caused by an act or omission of these.

• In the event of an additional wave of COVID-19 where JCB is required to shut down our in-studio classes: • JCB will continue classes as scheduled on Zoom • We will offer Zoom classes for up to 6 weeks upon this closure

ALL PARTICIPANTS ENTERING THE FACILITY AND/OR PARTICIPATING IN SANCTIONED ACTIVITIES MUST COMPLY WITH THIS DECLARATION

JCB Danceworks (collectively “JCB”) require the disclosure of exposure or illness in order to safeguard the health and safety of all participants and limit the further spread of COVID-19. This Declaration of Compliance will be kept safely, and personal information will not be disclosed unless as required by law or with your consent. A participant (or the participant’s guardian if participant is under the age of 18) who is unable to agree to the terms outlined in this document is not permitted to enter the JCB facility or participate in JCB’s activities, programs or services. I, the participant’s parent/guardian hereby acknowledge and agree to the terms outlined in this document.

1. The coronavirus disease COVID-19 has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization and COVID-19 is extremely contagious. JCB has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and requires all participants (or their parent/guardian, when applicable) to adhere to the compliance standards described in these documents.

2. The participant has not been diagnosed with COVID-19 OR if the participant was diagnosed with COVID-19, the participant was cleared as noncontagious by provincial or local public health authorities

3. The participant has not been exposed to a person with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19. However, if the participant was exposed to a person with a confirmed case of COVID-19 the date of exposure was more than 14 days prior to the date of the Declaration of Compliance was signed.

4. The participant is attending or participating voluntarily and understands the risks associated with

COVID-19. The participant (or the participant’s parent/guardian, on behalf of the participant (when applicable) agrees to assume these risks, including but not limited to exposure and being infected.

5. The participant has not, nor has anyone in the participants household experienced cold or flu-like

symptoms in the last 14 days including fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, respiratory illness, difficulty breathing)

6. If the participant experiences, or if anyone in the participant’s household experiences any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 after submitting this Declaration of Compliance, the participant will immediately isolate, notify JCB, and not attend any of JCB;s facilities, activities, programs or services until at least 14 days have passed since those symptoms were last experienced.

7. The participant is following recommended guidelines, including but not limited to, practicing physical

distancing, trying to maintain separation of six feet from others, adhering to recognized hygiene best practices, and otherwise limiting exposure to COVID-19.

8. The participant will follow the safety, physical distancing and hygiene protocols of JCB

9. The document will remain in effect until JCB, per the direction of the provincial government and provincial health officials, determines that the acknowledgements in this Declaration of Compliance are no longer required.

10. JCB may remove the participant from the facility or form participation in the activities programs or services of the Organization at any time and for any reason if JCB believes, in its sole discretion, that the participant is no longer in compliance with any of the standards described in this document.

Assumption of the Risk and Waiver of Liability Relating to Coronavirus/COVID-19 JCB Danceworks (“the Studio”) has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19; however, the Studio cannot guarantee that you or your child(ren) will not become infected with COVID-19. Further, attending the Studio could increase your risk and your child(ren)’s risk of contracting COVID-19. By signing this agreement, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that my child(ren) and I may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by attending the Studio and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and possible death. I understand the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 at the Studio and I voluntarily agree to assume all the foregoing risks and accept sole responsibility for any injury to my child(ren) or myself (including, but not limited to, personal injury, and disability) illness, damage, loss, claim, liability or expense of any kind, that I or my child(ren) may experience or incur in connection with my child(ren)’s attendance at the Studio or participation in JCB Danceworks programming (“Claims”). On my behalf, and on behalf of my children, I hereby release, covenant not to sue, discharge, and hold harmless JCB Danceworks or its employees of and from the Claims, including all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, costs or expenses of any kind arising out of or relating thereto. I understand and agree that this release includes any Claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of JCB Danceworks, its employees, agents and representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in any JCB program. 1Enrolled is defined as fully registered for regular and not specialty recreational classes and payment has been received for the current season’s classes.
