Further resources The following resources contain sections that may be useful when designing learning experiences: DigiLearn * Human Body students work through a series of four learning objects about the structure and function of the human body. They compare humans with other animals to explore adaptation to environments. So in terms of the work that needs to be done to be ready. These 6 criteria or measures are worth using for school planning, perhaps the questions help focus it. Leadership- The CeLL schools and in the Ultranet trial schools have all emphasised the importance of principals in particular and elearning leaders & teams in ensuring that the focus, time & processes are set up to make sure the changes occur. In terms of teacher skills and confidence, the experience in the interactive whiteboard schools in the Wimmera is that the growth of competence in the IWBs and as a result in associated ICTs has been enormous in the first 12 months, and the progress generates the enthusiasm that means that teachers build capability quickly . Various AGQTP projects, and schools that have people trained in the Intel approach, and school PD days, and are providing ongoing support in schools are contributing to building workforce confidence & capabilities. There is also a recognition in most schools that teachers need to put PL into effect soon after PD, by designing different ICT tools into all appropriate learning, applying the learning in action learning and applied projects. The work schools have done on VELS have caused central banks of courses, in digital form being accumulated. That is perhaps one for us to remind Las and work teams, to accumulate digital courses and their best units as they go. In a while, perhaps Term 3 and 4 may be the time to start letting parents know about what will be avialble to them. The Regional Ultranet strategy that schools have added to their 2008 AIP Regional Plan is just applying these measures. There is much progress in schools designing learning spaces and planning the infrastructure to make sure that there are high levels of access so that using ICT can be a natural part of students learning, not an occasional special event. Federal money in recent times and the new governments computers rolling out, first round in Semester 2, will support Secondaries well, but planning to be ready for our turn is important. A number of Wimmera schools are finding that Laptops and trolleys have been very successful in providing a natural access. Some are investigating leasing laptops. One more view of digilearn: the Showcase. Go in through epotential.education., or a link from the Digilearn home page. All are interesting- but 5 Bright ideas is interesting, looking at a range of DLOs and thinking about how they might be used with kids. Would you do some exploring, find something of interest, maybe for use, or just Have a go at it, find a DLO you like or could use. See if any of the BRIGHT IDEAS appeal to you. Jot down some that may be useful. Perhaps 5 minutes, see how long. Two tasks- looking for good and useful DLOs AND ideas for how the DLO may be exploited in class.
