Dear Brother Rats, Sister Rats, Fellow Brother Rats and I (Hobbs Goodwin) have

discussed having a Mini Reunion. The talking is over and we have swung into action. Many of you may remember the Mini “Sail The Bay ’63”. An Armada was formed near the Rappahannock River in Irvington VA. We filled our bellies, partied, provisioned, armed and set sail across the Chesapeake Bay with the thought of plundering and pillaging many small villages. The sail was about 7 hours. When we arrived pooped and tired we lost sight of our original objective and instead we played and partied. We were on the Bay for 3 days. Fun was had by all. That Mini will be hard to top but lets try.

We are now older and wiser, so we have toned it down a bit for this one. We will come in peace and unarmed. This adventure shall be called “Play by the Bay”. The location will be Kilmarnock Va. And the dates are Oct. 21 thru 24. Our hope is that we can make this exciting enough so that those of you on the West Coast and in between will come and possibly tie in other things here in the East. The official start will be checking in at Heidi’s and my home or at your lodging. Dinner will be at a local eatery Thur. night and Fri night. I have arranged for golf at the King Carter Golf Course ($45 includes cart). Ladies welcome also. Also for the ladies we are considering a Winery Tour. We have 6 nice wineries in the area. We also have 3 museums that I think are interesting. Hopefully we can get a bus for this tour.

Sat. morning we will have 5 private boats for fishing to include Bob Powell, Charlie Amory and me. Striped Bass (we call them Rockfish) season will be in effect. The fishing for Rockfish can be excellent. Each of our boats will take 3 to 4 fisherman or fisherwomen. No charge for these private boats. Small gas tip OK. Charlie Amory will be coming in his custom Deadrise (classic boat of the Chesapeake Bay) that he had built.. 600hp ++.

Professional charter boats are also available that will take up to 5 or 6. These boats book well in advance so we need to think about that. For our non fisher people we hope to have as many as 4 sail boats to take people sailing. These boats range from 30’ to 45’. Three of them should be around most of the time. Heidi and I have a 49’ trawler which is available for cocktail cruises etc. Maybe even fishing.

As mentioned before we will be eating out Thur. and Fri. Sat. night we expect to have a catered dinner at our home on Indian Creek. Bob and Tina Powell have offered to have brunch at there home also on Indian Creek on Sun. at 10:00 am.

Our home will be open for all 24/4.Come make yourself at home andcatch up with each other. I am sureBob and Tina would love for you tocome visit their lovely home.
