“One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after;

that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,

to behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His temple.”

Psalm 27:4

We welcome you to our worship and fellowship. To God be

the glory! And may we be richly blessed. Please join us for

fellowship and refreshments in the Fellowship Hall after the

morning service.

Today, for Sanctity of Life Sunday we are collecting items for

the Alpha Center. Kids will bring donations up to the front

during that morning’s service. You will have until next week,

January 28, to donate.

Children aged 3-5 meet your teacher in the foyer during the

offering this morning for Children’s Church.

ABOUT OUR MESSAGES

This morning is the third of a four-part series unpacking the

Biblical image of shepherding in the church. Jesus is our Chief

Shepherd, He appoints elders as under-shepherds, and yet this

morning we find that there are roles to play for the sheep

themselves. Titus 2 gives the picture of "Life within God’s

Flock,” where the grace of Christ and the coming return of

Christ inspires a life of discipleship among all the various types

of sheep.

This evening, Pastor Drew begins a group of messages on

family life. For the next few weeks, we will be unpacking the

various aspects of God’s teaching on marriage, beginning

at Genesis 2:18-25 and “God’s Design for Marriage.”

Though this teaching will be helpful for all, it could be a

helpful ‘brush-up’ for those who are currently married and

wish to grow in imitating God’s design.

PRAYERS AND PRAISES

We grieve along with Ron and Jan Van Zee in the death of

Jan’s father, Cornelius ‘Cornie’ Lieuwen this past week at

age 95. Visitation will be this afternoon at the Mount Funeral

Home from 3-5 PM and the funeral tomorrow morning at

10:30 AM at New Holland CRC. Please remember the entire Lieuwen

family in your prayers as they walk forward in time of loss.

council member with any questions.

ABOUT OUR OFFERINGS

This week’s offerings will be divided between Alpha Center

and Bethany Christian Services, both in Sioux Falls, in honor

of Sanctity of Life Sunday.

Alpha Center, has been helping women and families facing

an unplanned pregnancy since 1984. Since opening our doors,

women of all ages from various cultural backgrounds have

received the help and support they needed when faced with a

crisis pregnancy. (from alphacenter.org)

Bethany Christian Services is about kids in families. We serve

children of all ages as we strive toward a world where every

child has a loving family. Our services include family support

and preservation, adoption, foster care, pregnancy counseling,

training, refugee services, sponsorship, and infertility ministry.

We are called to demonstrate the compassion of Jesus Christ

to vulnerable children and families around the world. (from bethany.org)

Next week, our offerings are for Dakota Christian School.

To the congregation of Platte CRC: Thank you so much for the

support and gifts that our ministry, Back to God Ministries Int’l, receives from your church. Know that we continue to share the Gospel

around the world. We still use radio, television and printed materials

like the TODAY devotional – but we are reaching people with all

kinds of new media too – internet, blogs and smartphone apps. Not only do we share the Good News of Jesus Christ, we are also

committed to discipling people and strengthening the Church. We so

appreciate your partnership and ask that you pray for our ministry

and staff, and pray that the Holy Spirit will work in the hearts of

people who hear the message of salvation. Thanks again for your

support!
