Dear Valued Customer,
For over two decades, Engineered PlasticProducts Corporation has provided plasticmachined parts to a variety of industries including medical equipment, telecom-munications, instrumentation and others whodemand the highest standards for what are often critical parts. We have received awardsfrom many of our customers by exceeding their expectations. As part of this focus, we are pleased to provide your company with ourPlastic Properties Handbook and Design Guide.
As our customers move into increasingadvanced methods of manufacturing, wecontinue to upgrade our technology. EPPaccepts most forms of CAD files electronicallythrough e-mail and through our website. We are able to rapidly process them usingCAD/CAM software, manufacture the parts onour state-of-the-art equipment and then inspect them on our fully-automatedvideo inspection system. The rapid through-put and short lead times allow us to supply quality parts at the lowest possible costs.
For those who are considering our services, please allow us to examine your drawings and return competitive quotes. If you are already a customer,we look forward to continuing to develop our partnership. In either case, wewill work hard to earn your business.
If you have any questions or suggestions on how we might serve you better, please call me directly at (800) 535-2889.
Best regards,

HOW TO USE THE PLASTICPROPERTIES GUIDE
This book was developed to provide an objective, informative guide tomaterial selection and machining design considerations. No material ispromoted over another. The goal is toselect the proper material and combineit with the most appropriate and costeffective design.
1. Materials in the Properties guideare listed from lowest to highestvalues in sixteen physicalcharacteristic categories.
2. Select the categories which havethe most affect on yourapplication.
3. Review the materials and makea list of possible materialcandidates.
4. Refer to the designconsideration checklist at right.Consider each item on thechecklist and whether it is afactor in the application.
5. Call our technical support todiscuss options or ask additionalquestions.
Plastic machined parts are designeddifferently than molded parts. EPP can help you determine which is best suited for your application.
EPP understands the advantages and the limitations of each material andprocess, after checking the applicationagainst the checklist, fax your drawing or call technical support to answer anyother remaining questions.

PLASTIC MACHINING DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS AND CHECKLIST
Review the following checklist and identify any issues, whichcould affect the function of your part in its application:
□ 1. Thermosensitivity – tolerance can change in different temperature conditions
□ 2. Sensitivity to humidity and water atmosphere (hydroscopic) affects tolerance
□ 3. Sensitivity to chemicals and oils
□ 4. Notch sensitive-corners and square ID’s
□ 5. Tolerances
□ 6. High loads
□ 7. High impact
□ 8. Fatigue loading or cycle loading• Flexing • Deflecting • Compression
□ 9. Temperature – maximum/minimum extent of time
□ 10. Electrical considerations (example: insulating properties, etc)
□ 11. Wear resistance or abrasion resistance
□ 12. Dimensional shape retention (load – cold flow – temperature)
□ 13. Regulatory requirements (example: FDA, UL, etc.)
□ 14. Appearance (color, texture)
□ 15. Optical requirements
□ 16. Outdoor use
