PV MessagesMessage from MHOA President

TERRy yORkE Thank you, Plantation Village, for letting me represent you as your MHOA President for the past 4+ years. Through meetings, events and bazaar pick-ups I had the chance to meet and greet most of the residents. I intend to stay on as a director and when possible will help where needed. The new board will have new ideas to create an even better village for all of you. Thank you, past and present board members and residents, who have assisted me in many projects and functions to make the entertainment part of this village succeed.

Message from Sharon Beaumont Plantation Village had a very busy winter. The calendar was full every month which is great. I just want to remind everyone without the volunteers there wouldn’t be any events. Sometimes we take for granted and forget the volunteer’s planning, setting up and taking down events. I think we have the best volunteers in Bradenton. Thank you to everyone who helped with events. There is, way too many people to name. Thanks for making PV the best park to live in.

What’s happening in the pv neighborhood: Remember to tune in to channel 732 on your tv for updates.

PV MessagesMessage from PV Manager

MERRy SINACOREHi, Everyone, Happy April. The Spring is here and the weather will be heating up. Some of the snowbirds will be leaving and go-ing back home. Hope you all had a great time this winter, I know it was amazing. We had the Shuffle Board Tournaments, and PV really did well. We also had our great 50th Celebration. It was such a fun time and so many residents enjoyed the day. The best part was the food and the Dunk Tank - loved It! We will be sprucing up the community when everyone is gone. Painting, cleaning and making things new again so when all return it will look terrific. Our water project went well and we discovered our water leak. So we will be saving on our water. Our change in Banking Institutions has been moving forward and as we continue to get everyone on board we are trying end our relationship with Cadence Bank by the end of this month. If anyone has any questions, please come to the office and we will help you. You probably noticed that we tore down three homes in our community. 341 Avocado, 19 Cherry and 14 Peach. These sites will all have new homes, two are sold so I am hoping before we sell the other the residents can see the beautiful home we will use as a model. Our water project is almost complete. As you know we did Quince Peach, Cherry the north end of Date Orchard to Date and Harvest to the bridge. This will be all that we are doing in the community for the water project at this time. Hope you are enjoying all of our activities in this beautiful community.

Message from Ted & Vickey Ormiston When many of our PV residents are reading this, many others will be making their way back north for the season. When my wife Vickey and I are down here we are missing our friends and family up north and when we return to our Michigan home, we miss our friends and surrogate family from PV. Because we are a 55 and over community, we know that some of our residents will not be able to return so we can only wish you all good health and let you know that we will be eager to see you if we are able to return ourselves. As for our Hoyle Pinochle we made some new friends there again and I hope that several more of you will come forward to play next fall-winter. Be good, be safe and be healthy.

Library The library continues to be a very busy place, lots of reading and puzzle building going on in PV. Please con-tinue to place returns on small table by the door, it helps in maintaining the order of books as shelved and making your book searches easier. For better viewing of books on shelves there is a second light switch next to overhead light and fan. It controls the 2nd set of lights that highlight the shelves, and when fin-ished please turn off lights when exiting library. Anyone interested in helping shelf books contact Fran Mazzei, Extra hands always welcome and a big thank you to those already “On duty”.

MEET YOUR NEIGHBORDERISSA ATLAkSON

by Ted Ormiston Whenever I think about PV’s #1 asset it always comes back to the competent and good people who live in our park and Derissa is another person who comes from this mold. She has only been a resident of Plantation Village for a little more than a year and has already taken charge of our monthly potlucks. Very early on our residents discov-ered during last year’s annual bazaar that this lady is a very talented baker. I would advise anyone who attends any of the PV functions at which Derissa has made cupcakes to grab one. The look great and taste better! Derissa was born in St. Joseph, Missouri and during her 41 years of marriage she brought two sons and three daughters into the world. Her children have blessed her with three grandchildren. Derissa works for a company that makes add-ons for letter jackets. She started out as a cutter and worked her way up from there. Now, she works out of her home on Pineapple Street taking orders and running customer services. In 2005 Derissa and her husband bought a campground in Missouri of about 50 campsites that was in pretty poor condition. When they sold it in 2015, they had turned it into a premier campground. During their 10 years of owner-ship Derissa was the person primarily who took care of the mowing chores and also attended to the swimming pool. Derissa enjoys painting, working with flowers and, of course, cooking. She is also one of the Wednesday night euchre regulars in the PV clubhouse. She is a full time PV resident. I always like to ask people what some of their best memories are and Derissa told me something that several others have said. She said, “Moving into Plantation Village.” Derissa, it’s a pleasure to have you in our little corner of paradise. Welcome!
