MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY IN INDIAWith its GDP measuring $2.3 trillion, India is the world’s 9th-largest economy and the third largest by purchasing power parity at $8 trillion. Yet manufacturing accounts for only 16% of the country’s GDP. India represents only 2% of the world’s manufacturing output, a tenth of what our neighbour China contributes. Clearly, India is punching below its weight in manufacturing.

It can create one million jobs per month over the next decade, fuelling large-scale employment for Indian youth, thereby enabling a significant section of the population to move out of poverty.
