FRONT COVER DRAFT

Page 3: Planning production ]

FRONT PAGE IMAGES For my main front cover image I am going to have my artist standing against

a plain wall so she will be seen easily. She will also be holding a large record in her hand so people know that the main image is related with music.

I want her to be wearing a tartan shirt/dress as I believe this item of clothing fits with the indie rock genre.

The main image will be mainly focused to the left hand side of the page so I could fit more subheadings on the right hand side of the page.

I am also going to be including images of my artist who is going to be featured on the double page spread. I am doing this so the reader knows what will be included in the magazine and if they would be interested about the article inside.

COVER LINES FOR FRONT COVER I am having a variety of cover lines on the front cover of my magazine. My

main subheading is going to relate to my main image. It will say “LOVELL: I’M JUST A NORMAL GIRL”. I have chosen to use a quote because this will entice the reader to carry on reading to the main article

Other subheadings I will include on the front cover will be:

-Green Day split?!

-AC/DC knocking X-FACTOR off Christmas number 1

-Kings Of Leon talk about their new album

-Tonight Alive VS The Brobecks

-How The Beatles started a music revolution

-Beyonce pregnant?

-The changing hair of rock

-Exclusive with…

-PLUS, Vampire Weekend, The 1975, Lorde, Arctic Monkeys, Alkaline Trio I am using these subheadings because I know from my audience research

that my target audience would be interested in these articles.

LOGOS FOR FRONT COVER I want my logo to be bold and easy to read. So I have decided to design four

on da font.com and pick which one looks the best:

I like this logo because it is bold and easy to read. It looks modern and would be suitable for my target audience because it is more unique then a simple bold font

I chose this logo because it fits with the genre of the magazine which is rock and indie music. This logo looks bold and distressed which fits with my theme well. It is also very easy to read.

This logo is bold and easy to read however I think that it looks quite unprofessional and does not fit with my genre of magazine.

CONTENTS PAGE DRAFT

Page 7: Planning production ]

IMAGES ON CONTENTS PAGE I am going to have 5 images all together on my contents page. The main

image will relate to the large image on the front cover of the magazine and under this image I am going to include the first paragraph to the opening article that relates to the photograph.

In the three circle boxes I am going to include a picture of Beyoncé as one of my storylines is “Beyoncé pregnant again?”. I am also going to include a picture of the “Ellie Palmer” who I’m using on the double page spread and in the final circle box I am using a picture that I took at a Arctic Monkeys concert as one of the articles is also based on them

In the top left hand corner of the magazine I am going to also include a subscribe box to get sent my magazine every time it is released. I believe that this is an appropriate place to put this advertisement because it will be the first page the reader will turn too.

CONTENTS PAGE FONTS The font on my contents page are is going to be simple and easy to read. I

am not going to use a font that is too distracting and eye catching because I want there to be focus on the images on my contents page.

I will get my fonts from a website called “da font.com” as this website has a wide variety of suitable fonts for me to choose from.

I am going to use the same font as my logo for the “Contents Page” title as I believe that this would make the magazine look more professional.

For my feature articles and regular content the font that I will use will be chosen from these two:

This font is also going to be used on the front cover of my magazine for subheadings so in my opinion I believe that it would make my magazine look more professional if I used the same font for the subheadings on my front cover for the subheadings on my contents page.

I like the look of this font as it is easy to read and bold. It is also a “serif” font so gives my fonts have more variety and is something more interesting for the reader to look at.

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD DRAFT

Page 11: Planning production ]

IMAGES FOR DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD I will need four images for my double page spread. My double page spread is based on a girl called Ellie Palmer who has her own

YouTube channel and writes her own songs. In my images I want to highlight that she is just a normal ordinary girl who loves what she does.

One of the images I am going to take is going to be of half her face. I believe that this will look good on one side of the double page spread. I think that this will look good against the smaller images.

For the three smaller images I am going to take some natural shots of Ellie and what she does best. I am going to take three images. One of her on her laptop editing her video, another playing the keyboard and an over shoulder shot of her watching one of her own videos.

FONTS FOR DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD I want the font on my double page spread to be simple and easy to read. I

would not like the font to distract from what I’m saying and the images on the page.

The typography that I will choose from will already be on the programme that I am working on because they have the best fonts that look good small and are still easy to read.

For example some of the fonts I may choose from will be “ Century Schoolbook”, “Lucida Bright”, “Batang” or “Adobe Heiti Std R”
