Planet Earth was founded by pro-skateboarder Chris Miller in 19 9 0. His passion for both art and skateboarding has led to the creation of one of the most recognizable brands in the skate, surf, and snow industry.

“ I started Planet Earth with the intention of creating a quality brand that endorsed and promoted all the aspects of board sports that I love. As a kid, skateboarding was my deepest passion. It was so much more than just a sport, it was a portal for physical, emotional and creative energy and inspiration. It’s not an overstatement to say that it was medita-tive and even spiritual at times. The act of skateboarding, the pure joy of movement and weightlessness, the clear and real boundaries of nature and the price you pay when they are crossed, brought balance and clar-ity to my li fe. As I grew up, I found that surfing and snowboarding of-fered the same kind outlet and energy with the additional benefit of being in nature. I gravitated toward those activitiesduring breaks in my pro skateboarding schedule. Once I retired from competitive skateboarding I found my li fe revolving around my passion for board sports,art, design and nature. My business l i fe is simply an extension of this l i festyle. The focus of my career has been on creating products that enhance the experi-ence of the user. My goal with Planet Earth was always to be a company that supports and empowers people who are dedicated to a li festyle that is integrated in and around action sports, art, design and nature.”

“Each year all Montana snowboarders and skiers are treated to some pre-season man made snow and jibs, compliments of a litt le place known as Great Divide just outside of

Helena. They always throw a big open entry contest and then just let kids get their fix sessioning the l ine of j ibs. The morning after the event we went back up for a few more

hours on snow. After finding the contest l ine to be pretty blown out, we retreated to this patch of snow just at the base. There was something so unique about watching Tyrel

and Phil session this dinky litt le box on a mini patch of snow in a sea of dry ground. It seemed an example of true dedication to one’s passions. Knowing the amazing terrain

and snow these guys are privileged to ride each year, yet f inding them sti l l stoked to ses-sion this. I fe l t obligated to do my best to document it wholly.’ ’

reCyCled COttON

Recycled Cotton is col lected from clothing waste, cutting scraps and excess yarn thrown out at manufacturers. The waste is sorted, re-fiberized, and blended to make cotton in many different colors. Thus, no new cotton, dyes, or chemicals are used. Recycled Cot-ton is conserving our landfil ls , reducing the amount of pesticides, energy, land and water used that would normally be used in produc-tion of conventional cotton.

100% of our polyester fabrics are made from a blend of virgin and recycled PET.

We offer both 2 layer and 3 layer fabric of which our 3 layer is not only made of 100% recycled polyester but is also completely R E-CYC LA BLE! The 3 layers bonded as one are made with a Dupont® Active Layer membrane for superior wind & water proof protection that l iterally keeps you dry for up to 8 hours in ice storms. Although there isn’t recycling bins for your 3 layer jacket today, it ’s the first step in making the right change for tomorrow.

Facts:

20 million tons of plastic bott les wil l be added to our landfil ls in the next 10 years. Polyethylene Terephthatlate, or “PET” for short is the stuff plastic drink bottles & food jars among other things are made of, yet only 30% are being recycled leaving the millions of tons a year dumped back into our environ-ment.

S. Café® Fabric – Drink it, Wear it!

S.Café® is a technical co mposite f iber made from recycled coffee grounds. The fiber is used to make yarn, and then into knitted or woven fabric.

S.Café® utilizes coffee grounds’ natural ability to absorb odors for

a comfortable wearing experience. It also provides UVA & UVB

protection, and is very fast drying.

Coffee grounds that have been added into the fiber are col lected

from coffee shops. After brewing, they are generally taken as waste.

Brewing also takes away some of the other substances in coffee grounds, which make the production procedure less energy intensive.

‘ ‘We were on an M S P shoot in Haines in February (200 8), which was the earliest I’ve ever been to A K. The days were short, but the sun was low in the sky so the l ight was incredible al l day long. We were set up here shooting skiers on a heavily rimed south face that had great powder and really unique features. I was so mesmerized by this big face in front of us that I almost didn’t notice the cool l ight and lines in the snow around Scott, who was standing about 200 yards away from me. That’s the beauty of Alaska, you can be set up to shoot the most incredible shot you’ve ever seen, and then you turn around to see another equally beautiful shot that you hadn’t noticed before. You have to keep your eyes open to all possibilities.”

‘ ‘We were enjoying our last days in North America, skiing the trees in heavy snow-fall at Baker. It’s crazy being somewhere for that many days and not seeing what’s around you. Weather was predicting f lat l ight for our last day so that night we cel-ebrated the great trip at a local restaurant. After a few hours of s leep I woke up to my friend screaming “It’s sunny!” so we had to get back up to the mountain to ski some-thing else.’ ’

“Each year all Montana snowboarders and skiers are treated to some pre-season man made snow and jibs, compliments of a little place known as Great Divide just outside of Helena. They always throw a big open entry contest and then just let kids get their fix sessioning the line of jibs. The morning after the event we went back up for a few more hours on snow. After finding the contest line to be pretty blown out, we retreated to this patch of snow just at the base. There was something so unique about watching Tyrel and Phil session this dinky little box on a mini patch of snow in a sea of dry ground. It seemed an example of true dedication to one’s passions. Knowing the amazing terrain and snow these guys are privileged to ride each year, yet finding them still stoked to session this. I felt obligated to do my best to document it wholly.’’
