There were 2 rounds for the selection process.

Online Aptitude Test Personal interview

The Online Aptitude Test contained 35 questions, and we had 80 mins to complete them.

Questions were all based on quantitative reasoning, Pattern of questions where similar from previous years, in some cases the data was changed and/or a little twist was added.

Going through the sample papers they released for 2011, 2012 was good enough to crack it.

The Personal Interview Round was held on 1st September.

Candidates faced a panel of either 1 or 2 interviewers. Both technical and non technical questions were asked.

Page 12: Placement Papers

My personal experience was facing 1 interviewer, and the interview was mainly non technical.

Was asked what I do apart from academics, who is my favorite footballer (as I had mentioned Football as a hobby in my CV) etc, and it was an enjoyable session of casual chatting for about 15mins.

More than anything, they were looking at communication skills, and analytical thought. We have a lot to say sometimes, but its important to frame them in the correct order.

From the technical questions that were asked to my friends, nothing in-depth was questioned. Basic C concepts like loops, recursion, sorting techniques, basic SQL queries were asked. Again it was how the answer was presented, and how we went about it that was noticed, and not so much the answers itself.

Hope this helps you in your preparation for TCS. Good luck to all.

WIPRO

Job Interview, Question Placement Papers Pattern

There where three steps in the selection process:

Aptitude test Technical Interview

HR Interview

Aptitude Test:

It was a offline one of 50 min duration. There were three sections- verbal, aptitude and technical - each of 20, 20 and 10 questions respectively. The verbal part contained Question from synonym, antonym, making a meaningful word out of given alphabets etc. The aptitude part had questions from time and distance, area,  principal interest etc. The technical part consisted of basic C programs, postfix notation, stack etc. I had done about 18, 14 and 7 questions respectively in each  section.

With this I cleared the aptitude round. Next was the technical interview.

Technical Interview:

My technical interview was on 31st March at Techno India. The interview is as follows-

Me: Good afternoon, Sir.Sir: Good afternoon. Please take your sit.Me: Thank you, Sir.

Sir: Show me your CV. (in my CV my subjects of interest were DBMS and compiled design. after seeing that...) So you are good in DBMS and compiler design. What is right outer join?Me: answered....Sir: Differentiate between inner join and cartesian product.Me: told...Sir: Update a table Customer and assign the value 700011 in the pin code column for all tuples.Me: told...Sir: A program is as follows.int a(){statement;b();}int b(){return n;}Explain the entire process of compilation.Me: I told only about the program counter.Sir: What type of data structure is used here? Just answer this correctly and I will give you the form.Me: told correctly...He gave the form and then just asked some general Question like where did u do your schooling, where do u stay etc.

Some Question Asked to my Friends Are-

What is a cross compiler? program to check string palindrome, bubble sort, copying the contents of a[34] to a[50] from an array a of 51 elements into another array by using pointer, swapping using pointer etc. Difference b/w static and compile time binding? Polymorphism. Also some were asked puzzles. They mainly concentrate on the subjects given in the CV.If you are selected in the technical round the u will be given a form immediately. If u do not get the form then u are not selected.

Then we had to fill up the form. Along with the form we also had to write an essay. My essay topic was 'Migration to urban areas-Causes, consequences'. There was ample time to write the essay. The other essay topics given to my friends were 'Privatization of education', '60 yrs of Indian Independence' etc. The essay was not an elimination round. It had to be submitted at the time of HR.Now for the HR round.

HR Round:

Instruction for Q. Nos.   1   to   10  : Read the paragraph carefully and answer the questions below it.That genetic engineering had the potential to turn evolution upside down and inside out was known to be theoretically possible. No one was prepared for it when it actually happened. When last week a British scientist reproduced a sheep from its mother through genetic cloning, the news was received all around the world with near-disbelief. In India too scientists reacted broadly in the manner of their western counterparts. In the Indian Institute of science at Banglore where pioneering work on genetic engineering is under way, a senior scientist and chairman of the microbiology department Dr. K.P. Gopinathan described the cloning of “Dolly”, the British lamb as a fantastic achievement. But he cautioned that ethical questions would have to be convincingly answered before attempts are made to similarly clone human beings. Dr. Gopinathan himself has achieved considerable success in genetic engineering. His team is credited with having cloned the luminescence gene of the firefly onto a silkworm causing it to glow in the dark. His department is also at present working on a method to cultivate in a silkworm the gene that is responsible for the growth of an individual.

We talk about democracy but when it comes to any particular thing, we prefer a man belonging to our caste or community or religion. So long as we have this kind of temptation it means that our democracy is a phoney kind of democracy. We must be in a position to respect a man as a man and to extend opportunities for development to those who deserve them and not to those people who happen to belong to our community or race. This fact of favouritism and nepotism has been responsible for much discontent and ill will in our own country. If any one asks us why we suffer, we need not point to the stars above or say that God has punished us. We have to put it down to our iniquities, our disloyalties and our deviations from the ideals which we profess. True democrats must not communal prejudices and conflicts.

According to Napoleon, “It is a approved maxim in war never to do what the enemy wishes you to do, for this reason alone that he desires it.” Non-violent resistance acts fully in accordance with Napoleon’s principle. Your violent opponent wants you to fight in the way to which he is accustomed. If you utterly decline, and adopt a method wholly new to him, you have thus gained an immediate tactical advantage. The surprise of non-violent resistance is effective because the opponent is so bound by his violent habits that he is ill prepared to utilize the new tactics himself. The surprise of non-violent resistance, unlike that of war, is not due to deceit or stratagem but simply due to its novelty.

Q.9 The non-violent resister gains an immediate tactical advantage over his enemy because

a. He does not use the conventional method of warb. He does not fight at all

c. He does not fight in a way his enemy is accustomed to
