What is terrorism?

Our own definition of terrorism The act of rebellion by certain groups of people by

using violence to express their needs to the government and to seek recognition.

Actual meaning of terrorism. Terrorism is the use of violence and intimidation in

the pursuit of political aims. Involve acts dangerous to human life that violate federal or state law. Someone that just does harm basically.

Everyone has their own definition of terrorism because it is

mostly influenced by culture and it can be prevented.

Characteristics of terrorism and a terrorist

Terrorism An asymmetric form of conflict-

confers coercive power with many of the advantages of military force at a fraction of the cost.

Often secretive-they often offer opponents no clear organization to defend against .

Has often been an effective tactic for the weaker side in a conflict.

Terrorist.

Feel angry, alienated or disenfranchised.

Believe that their current political involvement does not give them the power to effect real change.

Identify with perceived victims of the social injustice they are fighting.

Feel the need to take action rather than just talking about the problem.

Have friends or family sympathetic to the cause.

Believe that engaging in violence against the state is not immoral.

General information.

It was created by Abdullah Ocalan in 1974 .

Has approximately 4,000 to 5,000 members, of whom 3,000 to 3,500 currently are located in northern Iraq.

Why they did They are in pursuit of an independent Kurdish State and seek a

complete overhaul of the country's Anti-Terror Law and legal arrangements for the release of its members in prison.

World Response

Turkish government claims to have killed hundreds of PKK fighters in the recent months and has eliminated about 500 terrorists through operations conducted through the Southeastern region.

Turkey is taking steps to negotiate with the PKK and respond to their demands.

Future of the group

The group has lost about 40 000 Kurds in their conflict with the Turkish government and they are still strong so unless the Turkish government satisfies their needs, they will continue to fight for their demands.
