Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (14-4-11) defeated Indy Eleven (12-9-9), 3-2, on Saturday at Highmark Stadi- um. Leading the charge for the Hounds in one of their highest scoring affairs this season were Ben Zemanski, Neco Brett and Kenardo Forbes. Forbes’ goal, from the penalty spot in the 90th minute, became the game-win- ner once Indy drew one closer with a tally in the second minute of second-half stoppage time. The Hounds finish out the regular season playing four of their final five matches on the road. Wednesday’s tilt brings a two-fer in expectations, as a win would certainly clinch a playoff spot, as well as the Keystone Derby title against Penn FC. The Hounds are the reigning champs of the Derby Cup and have not made the playoffs since 2015. Interestingly enough, the last time the Hounds clinched a playoff berth, they had to defeat the then-Harrisburg City Islanders in the final game of the 2015 season, also earning their first-ever Derby title in the process. With a game in-hand on Louisville and trailing the defending champs by a point for second in the standings, the Hounds control their own destiny in finishing the East runner-up for the regular season to FC Cincinnati. The Hounds defense has struggled as of late despite still leading the league in clean sheets with 15, allowing at least a goal in six straight matches. Pittsburgh’s last clean sheet came on Aug. 18 in a nil-nil draw against Charlotte at home. Penn FC might be just what the unit needs though, as the Hounds have shut out their in-state foes in five straight matches dating back to the 2016 season. On the flip side, the attack has been rolling with nine goals in its past three matches - the most in any three- game stretch this season - including multiple goals in three straight. The recent hot play has accounted for a whopping 22 percent of the Hounds’ scoring output for the entire season. Last time out marked the first time the Hounds have won when allowing two or more goals this season. Earning the victory last time out, goalkeeper Dan Lynd has totaled 10 wins this season. This mark places him fourth all-time in club history, joining former keepers Randy Dedini, Hunter Gilstrap and Chris Robinson as the only athletes with at least 10 career wins in Black and Gold. With his penalty kick goal last time out against Indy Eleven, Kenardo Forbes has now scored in three straight games for the Hounds. He joins Neco Brett as the only Pittsburgh players to have tallied in three straight matches this campaign. Forbes has set career highs in goals (4), assists (8) and points (16) this season. Speaking of Brett, the forward notched his team-leading 15th goal of the season last weekend, becoming only the fifth Hound to hit that mark in a single season and first since Rob Vincent (18) in 2015 - Thiago Martins (22 - ‘03), José Angulo (15 - ‘15) and Said Ali (15 - ‘04) the others. 2018 SCHEDULE & RECORD League Record: 14-4-11 Home: 9-2-6 • Away: 5-2-5 • Non-League Play: 1-1-0 MARCH Sat. 24 @Nashville SC CW T, 0-0 Sat. 31 PENN FC CW T, 0-0 APRIL Sat. 7 TORONTO FC II YouTube W, 4-0 Sat. 14 OTTAWA FURY FC ESPN+ W, 1-0 Sat. 21 @FC Cincinnati CW T, 2-2 Sat. 28 ATLANTA UNITED 2 ESPN+ W, 1-0 MAY Sat. 5 @Toronto FC II CW W, 2-1 Fri. 11 INDY ELEVEN ESPN+ T, 0-0 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round Two Wed. 16 @Erie Commodores FC N/A W, 2-1 Sat. 19 @Tampa Bay Rowdies CW T, 2-2 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round Three Wed. 23 FC CINCINNATI N/A L, 1-3 Sat. 26 PENN FC ESPN+ T, 0-0 Wed. 30 NASHVILLE SC ESPN+ L, 0-1 JUNE Sat. 2 @Richmond Kickers CW W, 2-1 Sat. 16 NEW YORK RED BULLS II CW W, 3-0 Sat. 23 @Charleston Battery CW T, 0-0 Wed. 27 @Louisville City FC ESPN+ W, 1-0 JULY Wed. 4 NORTH CAROLINA FC ESPN+ W, 2-0 Sun. 8 @Ottawa Fury FC ESPN+ W, 1-0 Sat. 21 CHARLESTON BATTERY ESPN+ L, 0-1 Sat. 28 @North Carolina FC CW L, 1-2 AUGUST Wed. 1 RICHMOND KICKERS ESPN+ W, 3-0 Sat. 4 TORONTO FC II ESPN+ W, 1-0 Sun. 12 @Bethlehem Steel FC CW W, 2-1 Sat. 18 CHARLOTTE INDEPENDENCE ESPN+ T, 0-0 Wed. 22 TAMPA BAY ROWDIES ESPN+ T, 1-1 Wed. 29 @Indy Eleven ESPN+ T, 2-2 SEPTEMBER Sat. 1 @FC Cincinnati CW L, 1-2 Fri. 7 BETHLEHEM STEEL FC ESPN+ W, 4-1 Sat. 15 LOUISVILLE CITY FC ESPN+ T, 2-2 Sat. 22 INDY ELEVEN ESPN+ W, 3-2 Wed. 26 @Penn FC ESPN+ 6:30 p.m. Sat. 29 @Charlotte Independence ESPN+ 7 p.m. OCTOBER Sat. 6 FC CINCINNATI ESPN+ 7 p.m. Wed. 10 @Atlanta United 2 ESPN+ 7 p.m. Sun. 14 @New York Red Bulls II ESPN+ 5 p.m. 2018 Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC > riverhounds.com > @RiverhoundsSC > #PENvPGH LAST TIME OUT Last Game Summary Riverhounds SC 3, Indy Eleven 2 Game 29 Highmark Stadium Sept. 22, 2018 INDIVIDUAL Category Riverhounds SC Opponent Points 7 - Neco Brett vs. Toronto (4/7) 4 - Jack McInerney, Indy Eleven (8/29) Goals 3 - Neco Brett vs. Toronto (4/7) 2 - Jack McInerney, Indy Eleven (8/29) Assists 2 - Kenardo Forbes vs. Richmond (8/1) 2 - Paco Craig, Louisville City FC (9/15) Shots 6 - Two times 6 - Lebo Moloto, Nashville (3/24) SOG 4 - Neco Brett [vs. NY (6/16), vs. RIC (8/1)] 3 - Three times Saves 5 - Two times 6 - Trevor Spangenberg, RIC (6/2) and (8/1) TEAM Hounds High Hounds Low Category Opp High Opp Low 11 - Two times 0 - Eight times Points 6 - Three times 0 - 15 times 4 - Two times 0 - Eight times Goals 2 - Seven times 0 - 15 times 3 - Three times 0 - 11 times Assists 2 - Three times 0 - 16 times 24 - vs. Bethlehem (9/7) 5 - at Charleston (6/23) Shots 15 - Two times 2 - at OTT (7/8) 9 - Two times 1 - Two times SOG 7 - at Indy Eleven (8/29) 0 - Three times 5 - Two times 0 - Four times Saves 6 - Two times 0 - Two times 23 - vs. New York (6/16) 3 - vs. Charlotte (8/18) Fouls 21 - at Bethlehem (8/12) 5 - vs. Indy Eleven (5/11) SUPERLATIVES CLUB NOTABLES All-Time Leading Goal Scorer ......................................................................
