Pitch for Devil’s Game

By James Flack and Martynas Grazulis

Page 2: Pitch for Devil's Game

IdeasIdea 1: James

Three friends find a strange package on the doorstep. They open it up to find a Ouija board inside. They decide to play it, but find themselves in different parts of the house; Lauren is in the bathroom, James is in the living room and Martynas is in the porch. They then start to get tormented by strange goings on (e.g. lights going out, items being thrown around, etc.).

Idea 2: Martynas

Three friends find a strange package on the doorstep. They open it up to find a Ouija board inside. They decide to play it, but find themselves in different parts of the house; Lauren is in the bathroom, James is in the living room and Martynas is in the porch. After awhile, they find out that they are not alone and are tormented throughout. Lauren is stuck in the bathroom with a strange boy, James is stalked by a killer and Martynas is teased by a hooded figure.

Both of us also came up with the idea of there being no escape from the house and are in another world.

Planning Notes

A planning sheet was made so that we knew what scenes we where using as well as the shot that we wanted for each scene…

Page 4: Pitch for Devil's Game

Factors to ConsiderThere are a few things that need to be considered before and during filming…• Lighting - Needs to be low key, but enough to see everyone.• Prop hazards - Handle props carefully (especially the knife

and candles).• Make sure that nothing is on the floor (e.g. fake blood on

the floor) especially when walking in the dark.• When filming, make sure that everything is organised before

hand as well as making sure the camera is fully charged. We also need to make sure that we have everything like props are ready for the day.

PostersThis is poster idea #1 by Martynas. In this we can see the three main antagonists of the trailer which is a scarecrow, a demon woman and a possessed boy. At the top of the poster, the cast names are above the villain that they are tormented by (e.g. James is being chased by the killer dressed as a scarecrow.

The scarecrow is in the middle and we can see part of the shoulders and the other two are behind him and we can only see their heads. The reason foe this is because the background colour for this poster will be black and we wanted it to look like they were fading in / out of the darkness.

The title was then added in the middle of the poster (below the scarecrow). The title is in capitals letters and is coloured in red as that is the logo for our film and also helps make the text stand out against the black background. Below the title, the release date for the film can be seen as well as the hash tag for the film.

Also, all the posters we done have the text are in capital letters so that the text stand out.

Page 17: Pitch for Devil's Game

This is poster idea #2 by James. As you can see, it is similar to the previous poster, but in this one, the person who is being tormented by each antagonist is above them.

The colour of the background for this image is also black as it gives the poster a dark tone and makes the genre of the film easy to recognise.

This poster is also in landscape as the images fit better in this orientation. The layout is also the same, but instead of the release date and hash tag being underneath the title, they are on either side of the title. The cast names are found at the top of the poster.

This is poster idea #3 by James. In this, we can see a picture of the Ouija board and covers the whole page. In some places, you can see parts that are associated with the antagonists of the film; For the boy, water is dripping onto the board, for the woman, her hand can be seen on the board and for the killer, the mask and knife has been placed on the board.

This poster is also in landscape and the title can be seen at the bottom of the poster with the hash tag underneath the title. A new caption has also been added which is ‘from the producers of The Lost Souls and The Feast’ and can be found on the bottom left hand side of the poster and the release date can be seen on the bottom right.

Magazine PostersThis is magazine cover idea #1 by James. This cover is for Empire. The background used for this cover is in style of a Ouija board with the three protagonists in front of it.

I got this idea from an Empire magazine for Harry Potter. The cover had the three main characters on it (just like how we drew ours) and the title was at the bottom of the poster with a small caption. I put myself at the front of the cover as my character is the one that discovers the Ouija board.

At the bottom of the cover, we used a banner to add other headlines and we also added a pug.

The colour of the cover would have baige colour for the background as that is the colour of the Ouija board and dark coloured text so that the text will stand out. The colours for the text would be red as that it is the colour of our main title and we would also use black for the captions and cover lines. This is typical as Empire and toher film magazines usually use colours that are normally associated with the film.

Page 20: Pitch for Devil's Game

This is magazine cover idea #2 by Martynas. This cover is also by Empire. The same idea has been used as the previous cover, but this time the three antagonists can be seen on the cover.

Empire sometimes use the antagonist/s on the front cover to promote new films so we decided to use this idea to make the cover have a darker theme to it.

The main cover line is also the same and the cover line is also similar, but the caption comes after the main cover line as opposed to it coming before it. A pug and other cover lines have also been added.

Page 21: Pitch for Devil's Game

This is magazine cover idea #3 by James. This time, the cover is for Total Film and only the scarecrow killer can be seen on the front cover.

The scarecrow is holding up a knife which will tell the audience that this person is one of the antagonists of the film due to the iconography, body language and colours of the cover which are dark colours such as black and dark red.

Cover lines have also been added at the bottom in the form of pictures and a few in words above. A pug has also been used.

The main cover line is in the middle of the poster and is in capital letters and in bold to make it stand out against the killer and the dark background.

This is magazine cover idea #4 by Martynas. This is another cover for Total Film. In this cover, we can see the three antagonists of the film on the front cover.

This time, the cover lines have been added on the left hand side as the boy is crawling at the side and the main cover line is located in the tip right along with a pug.

The background will also be black.

Page 23: Pitch for Devil's Game

This is magazine cover idea #5 by Martynas. This one is for Sight and Sound.

Instead of having a dark themed magazine cover, it is a basic cover of one of the cast members as Sight and Sound is for more older people and has quite a basic structure to it.

At the bottom, the cast members name is there as it is part of the main cover line and is also meant to be the person on the front cover.
