Publication

The magazine will be published fortnightly. This isbecause my researched showed that my targetaudience, young adults, buy music magazinesirregularly and so do not need a new issue everyweek. But the readers also want to be informedabout current events and artists which means thatbringing out the magazine monthly wouldn’tcompletely fulfil this task. So a fortnightlypublication perfectly strikes the balance andsatisfies the audience’s expectations.

Cover Price

Based on the survey which showed that themost people are willing to spend between £1.30and £3.50 for a music magazine, the cover priceof the magazine will be £2.20. As the magazineappears fortnightly it can be a bit moreexpensive than £1.30. It is aimed to youngadults who usually do not earn a lot of money soit cannot be as much as £3.50. A cover price of£2.20 is a satisfying midpoint.

Genre

This music magazine tries to cover a wide range of musicgenres instead of only focusing on one. My research showedme that this is a market niche. There are magazines like thisbut aimed to an older audience. Music magazines likeKerrang! which have the same target group as my magazineare specialised on one particular music genre. To give themagazine’s content a structure and to meet the audience’sdemands there will be a focus on rock music. The vastmajority of the participants in the survey declared the rockgenre as their favourite. This does not mean that the front-page article always has to be about a rock band or artist. Itjust states that in average the number of articles about therock genre prevail the amount of articles about Pop-music,Chart-music, Metal and R’n’B.

Working Title

The magazine’s name is LIVE! It is a shortand catchy title which can be memorisedeasily. You associate the word “live” withlive music like concerts or festivals inwhich my target group likes to participatein. It also suggests that the content of themagazine is up-to-date, it reports live, atthe very moment, not delayed. Readingthe title words such as alive and livingpop into your head. The target audiencewho are teenagers and young adults inthe prime of their lives trying to find theirown personality and identity as well astheir place in society should get a feelingof understanding and belonging whenthey see the name LIVE! on a magazinesfront page. This means the working title is aconnection to music much the same as tothe reader’s situation in life.
