Summer is here. Memorial Day weekend was a busy one, the Women of the Moose hosted an awesome BBQ complete with entertainment to start the summer off in style. Thanks to all who helped in making that such a memorable event. The week prior to that, the Lodge hosted a fundraiser for the 4H archery group from California that’s qualified to go to the national championships. Through the hard work of those who volunteered for this event, $1410 were raised to help send these kids off to represent the state. Thanks to all who helped organize the cooking, raffles, entertainment and the often overlooked clean-up from the event; your hard work really paid off. A special Legion Conferral was held on May 20th. There were 18 new applicants from our district (10 from Pismo Beach) to enroll in the Moose Legion of Service. Thanks to all who attended,
including our newest Moose Legion members who are taking the next step in fraternalism. For those that might be interested, some of the reasons a member might want to get involved include: The opportunity to make even more of
a difference in the lives of those we care for at Mooseheart and Moosehaven. The majority of our dues go into programs for our kids and seniors. Degree fundraising efforts adds even further support to these philanthropic causes.
Doors open to additional activities for your enjoyment such as activities planned by local Lodge Moose Legion committees for members and families. Additional opportunities can exist through the jurisdiction program of activities.
Increased level of Pride in one's membership. Members have a feeling of accomplishment knowing their membership matters even more. Moose Legion is a “Higher Degree” of the Order.
The Lodge appreciates all those who have stepped up in whatever capacity they are comfortable with. Have a safe summer and we’ll catch up with you after convention.
Summer Legion
Greetings everyone; The year seems to be flying by; May went well and here we are in June. I want to start with a few issues we need to readdress. We have 17 parking spaces and 3000 + members. If you double-park in our lot, please be available to move your vehicle promptly. Let your greeter and/or bartenders know that your vehicle is double-parked. Next, sign in your guests. Remember guests are allowed 2 lodge visits. They must become members on their third visit. Also, when in our lodge, please act ladylike and gentlemanly; we have had a few more incidents as of late. This is a private organization not a night club! Like I’ve said before, being a member of LOOM & WTOM is a privilege and, if necessary, these privileges can be suspended. Coming to the World Famous Pismo Beach Moose Lodge, one should expect to enjoy a great time. Please try to be courteous and respectful to your fellow Moose brothers & sisters. There’s a lot going on in June and the summer months ahead, please refer to the lodge calendar and announcements posted in the social quarters. See you at lodge.
Fraternally yours,
Robert A. Chavez Govenor Pismo Beach Moose Lodge #1409
