Finishing Tips

Don’t forget to block your finished coaster. Blocking helps the yarn

relax and ensures your coaster will keep its flat, round shape longer.

Blocking

Pin the coaster to a Styrofoam or cork board. Start by pinning the

base of each of the 16 spikes. Then continue by pinning scallops at

the outer edge, starting at 12 o’clock, moving to 6 o’clock, then 9 and

6, and so on. By pinning scallops in even intervals and always

opposite each other, you will be able to create gentle tension and so

shape the coaster into a flat, even, round circle. Place each pin

carefully to maintain this shape. Rearrange pins if necessary to

achieve desired effect.

Spray the pinned coaster with water until it is thoroughly saturated.

Blot away any extra water and leave the coaster to dry completely.

Carefully remove the pins.

If your coaster gets soiled, clean it in a matter appropriate for the

fiber you used to make the it, and then block it again as described

above.
