Countdown Time for precious Lara and marco

When Marco and I went to Paris a few years ago, we thought of having our own French resto someday. It’s a dream come true.”

Janice de Belen is back to what she does best, which is drama, in ABS-CBN’s “Ina, Kapatid, Anak.”

How different are soaps these days than when she started out in Flor de Luna?

“Back then, the pacing was slow,” she points out. “Plots were simpler. Secrets could be hidden for years.”

How does she motivate herself for a heavy dramatic scene? “I suppose all my tears in the past have helped me cry on cam,” she says. “And I mean every single tear.”

To lighten up after her melodramatic shoots, Janice turns to her giraffe collection, which she’s had for 10 years.

“I have this fascination for strong and big animals,” she notes. “I also like sharks. But I would go near a real giraffe but stay away from sharks.”

Another fascination of hers is Adam Levine. “For me, he’s officially the sexiest man alive,” she gushes. “He sings so well. Crystal clear voice. He’s a no-frills guy. I love his tattoos. I wanted to faint when I watched him up close in his concert.”

Stars Tackle Cybercrime Law Issue

It’s ironic that the Internet, which was designed to make our lives simpler, is causing a lot of problems that has led to the enactment of the Cybercrime Prevention Law.

In this day and age, we can’t help but be slaves to technology. But we should not allow ourselves to be stifled by some politicians, who are trying to delude us through this controversial law. If they could only hear what we have to say. They should streamline the new law. There’s a thin line between protection and restriction. Something’s gotta give.

VILMA SANTOS: It’s only right that we take care of our freedom but this comes with a corresponding responsibility. Freedom should never be abused.

AIKO MELENDEZ: I’m against it plain and simple. What will happen to freedom of speech? How can we give our objective opinion on issues if we are prevented from doing so? And media will have a hard time letting the public know the real scenario through the Web, most especially the ordinary folk whose only means to be heard is via the Web.

ZOREN LEGASPI: Cybercrime law does not affect me in a negative way. People should understand that laws are passed to protect the government and the people. If the government uses this law to cover up their corruption or use it to bully bloggers, that’s when we should react. Edsa 4, 5, 6 lang katapat niyan! Let’s give it a try. Peace!

MARK GIL: I am not really affected by it because I am not a user. This all came so suddenly. A reaction without a reason? Quite scary! What’s next?

JED MADELA: It all seems so vague to me. It will all boil down to the proper implementation that would be fair to all sectors of society. Anything that protects the welfare of the people is good and anything that strips them off their rights is highly questionable.

MARTIN NIEVERA: For me, it depends on what side you are on. Are you the basher or the bashee? Then again, I want to know who will be the master opinion taker. Believe me, I am all for friendlier communication with all the social networks. But if I am not hurting anyone I should have the freedom to give my opinion and speak my mind. So when in doubt, delete, block—or how about just be nice to each other. Kaya n’yo?

marilou Diaz-abaya Succumbs in Breast Cancer

AWARD-winning film director, Marilou Diaz-Abaya has passed away after a year battling breast cancer Monday night.

She died 6:45 p.m., October 8, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Global City, Taguig City.

She was 57 years old.Abaya has done 21 feature-

length movies in a span of three decades.

Some of these are critically-acclaimed films like Brutal (1980), Moral (1982), Karnal (1983), Baby Tsina (1984), Kung Ako’y Iiwan Mo (1992), Ipaglaban Mo The Movie (1995), Milagros (1997), Sa Pusod Ng Dagat

(1997), Jose Rizal (1998), Muro Ami (1999), and Bagong Buwan (2001).

Abaya’s last film was Ikaw Ang Pag-ibig last 2011.

Direk Marilou has left behind husband, cinematographer Manolo Abaya and two sons, David and rock singer-actor Marc.

Her remains lie in state at the Ateneo College Chapel.

Is he now on speaking terms with Rufa Mae Quinto after their reported breakup? “Okay kami. Lagi kaming nagkikita sa taping ng ‘Bubble Gang’ kunsaan 14 years na kaming magkasama, so okay kami. Let’s just say na we realized na we’re better off as friends kaya magkaibigan na lang talaga kami.”

Jennylyn Fights rumor-mongers

JENNYLYN Mercado is sad that despite her and BF Luis Manzano’s assurance that they’re okay, rumors that their relationship is on the rocks continue to float. “Sinabi na mismo ni Luis na wala kaming problema at all, but may nagsasabi pa ring one of these days, aamin na kaming wala na talaga kami,” she says. “We just laugh off ‘yung ganung mga prediction nila and we don’t let it affect us. Feeling namin, silang naaapektuhan dahil hindi nila kami nasira.”

But with regards to her career, Jen is so happy that “Hindi Ka Na Mag-iisa” continues to rate very high now that it’s on its last few weeks. As Elisa, she

continues to search for her mom Maita (Glydel Mercado) and sister Angelica (Krystal Reyes) who finally succeeded in escaping from the clutches of the evil Jordana (Angelu de Leon.) Angelu is holding Glydel captive and gives her drugs to make her insane while continuing to maltreat Krystal. Jen finally gets Krystal back but Angelu is able to retrieve Glydel and threatens to kill her. Helping Jen through all this is Frank Magalona who has taken the place of Sid Lucero who started as Jen’s leading man but, for one reason or another, was suddenly dropped from the show.

paLaCe To FIGHT For CYBer LaWMALACAÑANG yesterday

said it is ready to fight for the Cybercrime Prevention Act.

Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda told Palace reporters that the 120-day temporary restraining order (TRO) issued by the Supreme Court is only a provisional remedy.

Lacierda said that if the High Court finally decides it is unconstitutional, the government still has other legal remedies.

The halt order is effective immediately.

Based on a formula, the 120 days may end February 6, 2013.

The High Court will deliberate on the issues via oral arguments on January 15, 2013. This is one of the rare occasions that the SC issued a halt order with a shelf

life.Usually, TRO issuances are

effective until a final decision.The Palace also asked Congress

to use the 120-day TRO against the cybercrime law to craft a better law even as it admitted that the TRO was a temporary setback in the crackdown on cybercriminals involved in identity theft and fraud, among other cybercrimes.

Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said that the 120-day TRO is a good time to consolidate the proposed amendments to controversial provisions of the law such as online libel and the “takedown” clause.

”The 120-day TRO is perhaps a signal from the Supreme Court that our legislature might want

to amend the law,” Lacierda told Palace reporters yesterday.

He said the amendments can be made to ensure “controversial provisions can be cured or can be crafted better,” pointing out it was “rare” that the high court issued a time-bound TRO.

He said the TRO period is “perhaps a good time and opportunity” for lawmakers who want to amend the law to

consolidate their proposals.The Palace spokesman said that

the government had been “stymied” in running after cybercriminals involved in identity theft and fraud, among other cybercrimes.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday unanimously voted for the issuance of the TRO.

The respondents to the petitions — President Benigno Aquino III, Executive Secretary Paquito

Ochoa, Jr., the Departments of Justice, Interior and Local Government, and Science and Technology, the Philippine National Police and the National Bureau of Investigation –- were given 10 days to submit their comments on 15 petitions assailing the law, which critics deem unconstitutional.

Oral arguments at the high tribunal have been set for January 15, 2013.

Stressed out, Sotto Thinks of Quitting Senate majority post

Senator Vicente Sotto is thinking of quitting as majority leader in the next Congress.

Yes, the stress of the job is finally getting to him.

No, this was not brought on by his skirmishes with critics over the reproductive health (RH) bill and the Cybercrime Prevention Act.

“I’m not saying I’m resigning. But right now, I have an 80 percent chance of quitting as majority leader,” the senator said.

Sotto said the main problem is that he works harder than the other senators because being majority leader is like supervising traffic during Senate sessions.

As chairman of the Senate rules committee, Sotto is tasked with outlining the session’s agenda, making sure that this is followed and mediating between arguing legislators during debates.

He said the work of majority leader was not commensurate to the glamor or the power associated with the position.

“You have to work harder than the rest. Be more conscientious, master the art of compromise

but still take a lot of criticism,” he said.

His civilian job as television host of the noontime show “Eat Bulaga” helps in a way, he said.

Sotto said he sometimes “injects humor” in the Senate debates mainly to “amuse myself” and stir things up when the session becomes too tedious.

He related how once Sen. Joker Arroyo took the microphone and wondered aloud where Sen. Manuel “Lito” Lapid was after Arroyo noticed that his colleague had suddenly disappeared.

Sotto said he would order the Senate sergeant at arms (OSAA) to scour the building for Lapid.

“If he is not here anymore, I will ask the OSAA to go to the parking lot and see if Sen. Lapid is out riding his horse,” he added.

Another time, Sotto noticed Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile humming to the Ilocano song being sung by the choir following the Monday flag ceremony.

Sotto asked the singers to leave immediately after their set “before Sen. (Ferdinand)

Bongbong Marcos (Jr.) joins in the chorus.”

Right now, Sotto is still smarting from brickbats that he is using his post to delay the approval of the RH bill because he opposes the measure.

The senator also continues to weather accusations that he plagiarized parts of the speeches he delivered against the RH bill, including a 1966 speech by assassinated US senator Robert Kennedy that he allegedly translated to Filipino.

If he does resign, Sotto said he intends to work like Arroyo who does not chair a Senate committee yet pokes his finger into every bill or resolution he takes a fancy to.

“I am actually envious of Joker,” he said.

Sotto would not name a specific senator he believes should replace him in 2013.

Would Lapid fit the bill?“Anyone can, as long as

that senator reviews or studies parliamentary rules and procedures,” he said.

Direk Wenn: Hindi araw-araw pasko

Even if his first name is spelled with an “e” and two “n’s,” it could mean the same thing – Win, as in Winner.

Because in the past few years, director Wenn Deramas has been cranking out blockbusters even as he causes bellyaches among moviegoers with his unique brand of comedy, combining wit and humor plus, which is very evident in his latest potential hit, Star Cinema’s This Guy’s In Love With You, Mare, starring his mga suki Luis Manzano, Toni Gonzaga and Vice Ganda.

Will the movie surpass the P342M-plus take of Praybeyt Benjamin (said to be the highest-grossing local movie of all time) and, as Vice Ganda jokingly boasted during the presscon, rake in P400M-plus?

Keeping his fingers crossed, Wenn said he hoped so even as he added, “Kaya lang, hindi naman araw-araw Pasko, eh.” Well, you can never tell, after all Christmas is just around the corner. “You know how Vice Ganda

is, he’s always positive. With me, if the moviegoers are entertained, happy na ako. But,” he qualified, “if this movie would make more than Benjamin, susmaryosep sino ba naman akong tatanggi?”

Wenn has worked with all three stars several times, so the shoot feels more like play than, well, work.

“Sobrang magkakaibigan na,” added Wenn, “so on the set, tawanan kami nang tawanan, asaran nang asaran,” an easy-breezy camaraderie that shines through in their films. “They’re saying that this movie is better than Praybeyt Benjamin but you know me, I’m the last to appreciate my movies. Let’s see after two years if it’s true.”

The pressure comes from people (producers and the public alike) who expect Wenn to come up with a better (and higher-grossing) rib-tickler every time. He has learned to take it all in stride.

“Since Tanging Ina (the Ai-Ai delas Alas starrer) grossed more than P200M, I refuse to be affected by that pressure,” continued Wenn. “As I said, hindi araw-araw Pasko.

Time will come when, you know…It happened to superstars like FPJ, Vilma, Sharon and Maricel, and it can happen to me. Hindi all the time P300M ang kikitain ng pelikula mo.”

His last movie, Moron 5, made more than P90M but since it was low-budgeted and didn’t feature a really big star, it was considered a hit, with the capital recouped and with profits to boot. The producer (Viva Films) was more than happy.

“Basta ako,” said Wenn, “if the producer gets back his capital at kumita, I’m happy na. But,” he added whimsically, “we expect to get bonuses from This Guy’s In Love.”

How did Wenn hit on the “formula” that has become his trademark?

“It started with Tanging Ina,” recalled Wenn. “One Sunday afternoon, Ma’am Charo (Santos-Concio, ABS-CBN big boss) told me that she wasn’t happy with the first draft even if the script ay sobrang patawa nang patawa, ‘yung the likes of Tatay Kong Pakitung-Kitong. Ma’am Charo told me, ‘If you can make the audience laugh and cry at the same time, you will create a trend in comedy.’ So I said, ‘Ma’am, dapat pala hango sa buhay namin.’ You know naman ang buhay naming mga bading, soap opera.” He hit it. Bull’s-eye!

On its opening day, Tanging Ina grossed P11M.

“Ma’am Charo called me from the States. Sabi niya, ‘How do you feel na nagpatumba ka ng dalawang hari?,’ referring to FPJ and Efren ‘Bata’ Reyes whose movie opened at the same time. Bumabagyo noon, ha! I told Ma’am Charo jokingly, ‘Show me the money and I will believe you.’ That should be the attitude. If your movie makes money, thank you po. If it doesn’t, well, that’s life…move on.”

On the big screen, Wenn is all riotous laughter but on the small screen he goes

drama all the way, his current ABS-CBN teleserye being Kahit Puso’y Masugatan.

“M-W-F I shoot for the teleserye and T-TH-S, I do movies,” said Wenn. “Para akong maid, Sunday ang day-off.”

He’s not about to, well, rock the boat (if it ain’t broke, why fix it?). As long as the formula is working (tears in TV and laughter in movies), Wenn will stick to it.

“My producers remind me that I’m like soap. May sabong panlaba at may sabong pampaganda. They said that as a director, I must have a ‘brand,’ something that will be identified with you.”

In This Guy’s In Love With You, Mare (opening nationwide tomorrow, Oct. 10), Vice Ganda is broken-hearted after Luis breaks up with him to go steady with Toni. Wenn admitted that there’s something of him in each of the three characters.

He elaborated, “’Yung sa character ni Vice, ‘yung pagiging vengadora. My best friend in college told me, ‘You know, you are the type of person who doesn’t let the sun set without you getting back at somebody at all costs.’ ‘Yung character ni Luis is like me, hindi ako manloloko. I don’t step on other people’s toes just to get ahead. ‘Yung kay Toni, her being a perfectionist. I can identify more with Vice Ganda’s character — you know, you give your all, you love truly at niloko ka, kaya humanda ka!”

By the way, has Wenn ever fallen in love with a mare?

He screamed, “Ay Diyos ko! Hindi ma-take ng hormones ko. Unang uha ko pa lang, alam ko nang bakla ako!”

MANILA, Philippines – Although Richard Gutierrez and Sarah Lahbati are yet to admit the real score between them, it seems that their recent photos together express more than words could say.

Sarah posted a photo collage via Instagram on Oct. 8 containing her snapshots with Richard showing her with her arms around him. She also posted a note that read:

“I like a lot of things. Normal things, unusual things. Things people would never expect me to like. But out of all the things I like, good and bad, you know what I like the most? You.”

Richard, who’s known to keep his love life under the radar, looks more open now in expressing his affection for Sarah, his co-star in the recently concluded GMA-7 primetime series “Makapiling Kang Muli.”

Some of their other photos from recent weeks—including those from their trips to France and Switzerland—seemingly show that they are thoroughly enjoying each other’s company.

In their interview with “24 Oras” last month, the two confirmed their plans of meeting in Europe. The Geneva-born Sarah went to Switzerland and Paris for a vacation, while Richard flew to Germany to accompany his mother, talent manager Annabelle Rama, for stem cell therapy.

Prior, Richard and Sarah also had a vacation in Boracay together with his siblings and her mother.

In Emmanuel de la Cruz’ “Slumber Party,” he plays a straight guy raped by three gays. This is an entry in the Cinema One Digital Filmfest this November. In Ronnie Bertubin’s “Gayak,” he plays the effeminate son of Allan Paule. “Alam na ng father kong gay ako, but ako yung in denial pa,” he says. “Eventually, magiging fashion designer ako rito.”

HOW does Janice de Belen feel that she and real life brother in law Ariel Rivera play husband and wife in new ABS soap “Ina Kapatid Anak”? “Okay lang, trabaho lang,” she says. “Basta walang kissing scene o bed scene dahil awkward naman ‘yon.”

The show offers three sets of conflicted love stories. First belongs to the senior citizens of 60 and above involving Eddie Gutierrez, Pilar Pilapil and Ronaldo Valdez. The second belongs to the mid-lifers of 40 and above with Janice de Belen, Cherry Pie Picache and Ariel Rivera.

The last one involves 20 somethings Kim Chiu, Maja Salvador, Enchong Dee and Xian Lim.

In the story, Ronaldo is Pilar’s first love but she left him as he’s just a poor shoemaker and chooses the rich but controlling Eddie Gutierrez. Janice (daughter of Eddie and Pilar) and Ariel can’t have kids as Janice has a problematic uterus so they ask Cherry Pie (daughter of Pilar and Ronaldo) to be a substitute mom, with Janice’s egg fertilized by Ariel’s sperm planted by a doctor inside Cherry Pie’s uterus.

Cherry Pie previously had a daughter with John Regala, a gambler who sold their baby and she never saw the child again. Janice got jealous of Cherry Pie,

Sef Finds Long Lost DadHis last indie film is still untitled but it’s

something right up his alley as it’s about dancing. A good dancer, Sef is excited about this project directed by balikbayan filmmaker from the U.S., Gorio Vicuna, who he says looks like Johnny Depp. “He brought a lot of dancers from the U.S. para makasama ko sa dance sequences in the movie.”

His latest assignment on GMA7 is “Coffee Prince” that starts airing tonight at 9:30 p.m. He plays one of the baristas in Aljur Abrenica’s coffee shop and he is paired with Kim Komatsu, who plays Kris Bernal’s younger sister. “I’m having fun doing this show because I’ve worked with Aljur before in the movie ‘Kontrabida Girl’ and with Kris in ‘Time of My Life’ naman. We’re having fun on the set with Direk Ricky Davao directing us.”

Sef is also mourning the untimely death of his grandpa. “Siya yung nagpalaki sa’kin as I grew up without a dad. He was diagnosed to have cancer then after more than just a week, he passed na kasi masyado ng affected ang other organs niya.”

Has he finally seen his dad? “Yes, kinontak niya ako. It turned out we both live in BF Homes Paraña- que pala. His name is Dennis Ureta. Yung dad niya, brother ni Ariel Ureta. He has his own family na with two kids who I have yet to meet.”

Janice agrees to be ariel’s Wife

who used to be Ariel’s good friend, and the half sisters had a fight. Cherry Pie left pregnant and raised her kid in Cebu to be Kim Chiu. Janice and Ariel adopt a girl, who grows up to be Maja Salvador. It’s easy to guess that Maja will later be revealed as Cherry Pie’s long lost elder daughter, to make this a story of two sets of half sisters: Janice and Cherry Pie, Kim and Maja.

Sarah Geronimo Denies Banning make-up artist and Stylist

MANILA, Philippines – Sarah Geronimo has addressed the controversial issue that her mom had a hand in firing the singer’s make-up artist Jing Monis and stylist Eric Pe Benito.

“Alam n’yo, mahal ko po talaga ang mga taong ‘yon. Talagang habambuhay ko pong…’yung utang ng loob ko sa kanila, hindi mawawala po ‘yon,” Sarah initially said when she was launched as brand ambassador of Cherry Mobile.

She stressed that she nor her mom would “never” do such a thing especially since they don’t have the “power” to do so.

“Sino ba naman po kaming mga powerful na tao para magpa-ban ng mga stylist? At saka mahal po namin sila.”

Asked if she’s still willing to work with Jing and Eric, Sarah answered in the affirmative.

“Opo naman,” she quipped. “Hindi ko

alam kung saan nanggaling ‘yung rumor na pina-ban sila.”

Earlier, Viva’s top honcho Vic del Rosario also clarified the matter and cleared Mommy Divine of any wrongdoing.

“Even before naman, minsan, iba-iba ang stylist ni Sarah ’pag hindi sila puwede. Walang ganung issue,” he explained.

“Nagpapasalamat kami sa kanila. Walang rason para sila ipa-ban o patalsikin,” he added.

The singer-actress admits being hurt over the issue.

“Siyempre masakit. Nu’ng nabasa ko ‘yung magazine, masakit, napapaluha ako kasi never kong in-expect na magkakaganoon,” she shared.

“Parang out of nowhere [ay] naging gano’n. Parang, ‘Ano’ng nangyari?’ ‘Paano nangyari ‘to?’”

But she is confident that she will tide over this recent brouhaha.

“Pero as long as hindi naman po totoo at malinis, clear ang conscience naming pamilya, walang dapat ikabahala.”

At this point, Sarah is dead set on threshing things out with Jing and Eric and rekindling her friendship with them.

“Kailangan lang po na personal na makapag-usap-usap para maayos ‘yung friendship po namin na mayroon po kami. Sana one day maupuan namin para mapag-usapan po ito.”

Obviously, Sarah was more hurt when Mommy Divine’s name was once again dragged into the issue. The nasty rumors even claim that her mom’s overprotective nature had been the cause of the purported firing because the two apparently showed allegiance to Gerald Anderson.

“Siyempre masakit po na makita ko ‘yung mommy ko na…hindi na lang din po niya pinapakita sa akin kung ano ‘yung…Minsan nakikita ko siya...hindi, ayaw kong magbigay ng detalye,” the trailed off.

Nevertheless, she said, “Sana po maayos [ang issue].”

She also refused to comment further on the public’s perception of her mom.

“Hayaan na lang po natin, ‘wag na lang nating detalyehin,” she said almost pleadingly.

Prior to this issue, Sarah’s next project would have been a movie with Gerald Anderson, which now seems to have been shelved for good.

But Sarah was evasive about the supposed botched film project.

“Wala, wala pa akong…wala pa pong confirmation ang Viva. Pag-uusapan po, titingnan natin,” she said. “Puwede po bang ‘wag munang…hindi ko na lang po muna masasagot sa ngayon.”

She added, “Basta okay naman po ang lahat at wala naman hong…basta okay po ang lahat. Ayoko ko na po sanang pag-usapan pa.”

Dingdong Denies Whispers Linking Him to Isabelle Daza

MANILA, Philippines – Actor Dingdong Dantes’ fuse has yet to run short over persistent rumors that he plays with fire behind the back of his girlfriend Marian Rivera.

Addressing the issue, Dantes denied the whispers linking him to model-turned-actress Isabelle Daza. In fact, he even maintained that he’s “straight” meaning he has been a loyal boyfriend.

“Hindi naman, kasi once and for all, narinig n’yo naman sa akin na hindi siya totoo. At I’m pretty sure na pag natanong n’yo siya, gano’n din.

But Dantes subtly expressed his hope for the controversy to stop since, “Masaya po ang relasyon namin ni Marian [Rivera], and siya [Isabelle] rin, I think she’s very happy in a relationship…”

“So, kung saan man galing ‘yun, sana po ay huwag nang guluhin kung ano man ang

meron kami sa kanya-kanya naming buhay ‘coz it’s really unfair,” said the 32-year-old actor-producer.

Meanwhile, the “Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles” star also reacted to beauty queen-actress Gloria Diaz, Daza’s mother’s defense against her daughter being branded a mistress.

When told that Diaz claimed in an interview that her daughter isn’t the boyfriend-stealing type, Dantes nodded in assent.

MANILA, Philippines—Multi-awarded actress Nora Aunor has done it again.

After bagging a critics award at the recent Venice Film Fest for her role in “Thy Womb,” which was said to have received a long and defeaning standing ovation after it was screened at that festival, news just in that she is nominated as Best Actress at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA), according to “TV Patrol” Oct. 10.

Early last month, reports have it that “Thy Womb” and “Captive” both by director Brillante Mendoza are nominated at APSA, too, which will be held in Brisbane, Queensland in Australia sometime November.

In “Thy Womb,” Nora plays a barren Badjao woman eager to please her husband at a place and time when tradition holds strong. The film has already been invited to and nominated in several international film festivals but was not given a slot in the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival. The film is currently at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) in Korea. Others in the cast are Bembol Roco, Lovi Poe and Mercedes Cabral.

According to the APSA website, they “recognize and promote the cinematic excellence and cultural diversity of the vast Asia Pacific region.”

“Established in 2008, it brings together 500 of the region’s most respected

names in film. This influential alumni of filmmakers grows by around 100 each year with the induction of APSA nominees, international jury and nominations council members,” it read.

Note that in 2008,one of Nora Aunor’s most iconic films, “Himala” was awarded the CNN APSA Viewers Choice Award for Best Asia-Pacific Film of all Time.

Marian Rivera gave a hearty laugh when pressed to comment on talk linking her boyfriend Dingdong Dantes to Gloria Diaz’s daughter, Isabelle Daza.

“Sa puntong ito sa buhay ko, sobrang saya ko sa piling ni ‘Dong so wala talagang kahit anumang bahid ng mga

ganon. Kaya nakakatawa lang na may mga ganun talagang issues talaga na, well hindi maiiwasan yan, ang importante ay alam namin ang totoo,” she said in a report aired on “24 Oras” Oct 9.

In all his interviews, Dingdong maintains that Isabelle is just a friend.

Besides, Marian has more than enough on her plate as far as he career goes to give too much attention to the rumors. The actress had just started taping for the upcoming series “Temptation of Wife” also starring Cherry Gil, Rio Locsin, Dennis Trillo, Glaiza de Castro and Rafael Rosell.

Marian fervently hopes for the drama series’ success.

Singer kitchie nadal’s Home robbed

The Makati City police are searching for a house maid suspected of stealing cash and jewelry worth about half a million pesos from the residence of popular singer-songwriter Kitchie Nadal.

Investigators identified the maid as Andrea Rafael, 38, said to be a native of Nueva Ecija province, who was hired by the Nadal family on Sept. 2 through the Perpetual Help Employment Agency based in Sta. Mesa, Manila.

The alleged theft was discovered on Oct. 1 at the Nadal home in San Antonio Village, Makati, after the recording artist returned from an out-of-town gig in General Santos City.

A pouch containing jewelry worth P500,000 and cash amounting to P50,000 went missing from her mother’s closet, Nadal said in her complaint to the police.

A day earlier, Rafael, who was just on

her fourth week on the job, packed up and left without prior notice, she said.

“We noticed she was gone when there was no food prepared for breakfast (the next day). We first thought, ‘baka nag-day off (maybe she took a day off),’” She said they learned through their houseboy that the maid left the house at around 4:30 p.m. of Sept. 30 carrying two bath towels in plastic bags. Nadal’s mother Margie was out of the house that day.

“Our houseboy asked her where she was going. She said she was just going out to take some clothes to the laundry shop,” Nadal recalled. “That’s when we got suspicious. Taking two bath towels to the laundry? Just two?”

“We are also complaining why the employment agency didn’t screen their employees very well”.

Case investigator PO2 Reynaldo Agustin said he had gone to the office of Perpetual Help Agency in Sta. Mesa to check the maid’s background.

“She was issued an NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) clearance. But we still have to double check this,” Agustin said.

He said the Nadals were convinced that it was their maid who made off with their valuables also because the house showed no signs of forced entry.

At the recent media launch of the coming Tanduay Rhum Rockfest VI, the topic of discussion was the state of contemporary Filipino music.

The event, which organizers hope will prove that Pinoy music is alive and kicking, features a staggering 30-band lineup for shows in three key cities: Cebu tomorrow; Davao, Oct. 19; and Metro Manila (SM Mall of Asia grounds), Oct. 26.

Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mangaawit (OPM) secretary Dingdong Avanzado described Pinoy music as not dead, but “evolving … it is in the process of transformation into a sound that’s more suited to this generation.”

OPM vice president for external affairs Noel Cabangon stressed that the local music industry “won’t die as long as bands and independent artists continue to create songs. There are always new, young bands emerging.”

Parokya ni Edgar vocalist Chito Miranda pointed out that part of the problem was that listeners thought the mainstream market was the be-all and end-all of local music.

“If you’re really a music lover, you can’t just depend on what’s being fed to you by the media. You should go out, explore and watch gigs to see that Pinoy music is alive,” he said “Actually, the venues where we play these days are much larger than those we had in the

1990s.”Rico Blanco echoed Miranda’s

sentiments, saying that a true music lover had no excuse not to watch gigs. “I had a measly allowance when I was a student, but I saved money so I could buy records and watch shows. I breathed music,” he told the Inquirer.

“Frankly, this whole ‘OPM (Original Pilipino Music) is dead’ talk bores me to death,” Blanco said. “In the ’80s, people asked why bands couldn’t be like Asin or Hotdog. And in the ’90s, during our time with the Eraserheads, Parokya ni Edgar and Wolfgang, people asked why we couldn’t match the [quality of the] bands of the ’80s.”

He continued: “Now I’m hearing it again. Take my word, 20 years from now, you’ll look back on 2012 , and say that this is the golden age of OPM.”

Blanco believes there has always been great Pinoy music, no matter what decade. “Why can’t we just accept and appreciate it? Compartmentalizing it by decade is a foolish way of going about things,” he insisted.

Other bands and solo artists expected to give music aficionados nationwide a great time in the coming rock festival include Kamikazee, Urbandub, Wolfgang, Ebe Dancel, Gloc-9, Franco, Up Dharma Down, Chicosci, 6cyclemind, Radioactive Sago Project, Sandwich, and many others.
