Fridge tip.

If your fridge appears to be leakingwater onto the floor or accumulatingunder the crisper draw don’t despair. It is most likely a blocked drain hole asshown in photo. When the fridgedefrosts the water drains through thathole into a tray below and air is blownacross to evaporate it. Clever eh! Justremove the crisper draw and stick apencil down the hole having lifted outthe filter, which clean and replace.Happened to me last week. Fridge tempshould be within 0 to 4 degs by the way.

Silent Night.Perhaps the loveliest of carols. The song was first performed onChristmas Eve 1818 at St Nicholasparish church in Oberndorf, avillage in the Austrian Empire onthe Salzach river in present-dayAustria. A young priest, FatherJoseph Mohr, had come toOberndorf the year before. He hadwritten the lyrics of the song "StilleNacht" in 1816 at Mariapfarr, thehometown of his father in theSalzburg Lungau region, whereJoseph had worked. The melody was composed byFranz Xaver Gruber, schoolmasterand organist in the nearby village ofArnsdorf. Before Christmas Eve,Mohr brought the words to Gruberand asked him to compose a melodyand guitar accompaniment for theChristmas Eve mass. Together theyperformed the new carol during themass on the night of 24 December. The original manuscript has beenlost. However, a manuscript wasdiscovered in 1995 in Mohr's handwriting and dated by researchers asc. 1820. It states that Mohr wrotethe words in 1816 when he wasassigned to a pilgrim church inMariapfarr, Austria, and shows thatthe music was composed by Gruberin 1818. This is the earliestmanuscript that exists and the onlyone in Mohr's handwriting. The version sung by Bing Crosby isthe third best-selling single of all-time but the carol is sung by far toomany to list here. Carols are ofcourse welcome in country music.

Country music artists have a longhistory of recording memorableChristmas songs. From classics thathave endured the test of time, to freshmodern takes on holiday tunes, hereare a few of the favorite countryChristmas songs.

Jingle Bell Rock -- Bobby Helms, recorded in 1957 and an instant hit.

O Holy Night -- Martina McBride, forher 1998 album and recorded byseveral country artists to muchacclaim.

Blue Christmas -- Elvis Presley, thesong wasn’t originally written orrecorded by the 'King'. Presley’sversion which made its debut on the1957 LP “Elvis' Christmas Album” --remains the most played though.

Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree --Brenda Lee, Rockabilly star BrendaLee was only 13 years old when sherecorded “Rockin’ Around theChristmas Tree.” (5 million sold.)

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer --Gene Autry, no Christmas is completewithout Rudolph. Autry released thetune in 1949, it became his first chart-topper and still goes well.

Christmas in Dixie -- Alabama, theiroriginal and is the band’s topChristmas hit 1982.

I’ll Be Home for Christmas -- RascalFlatts, written over 70 years ago tohonor WWII soldiers at Christmas.

A short-necked lute carved from asingle piece of wood, with amembrane covering the bowl of thesound-chamber, upon which thebridge is positioned. It has threemelody strings, two or three dronestrings and up to 15 sympatheticstrings. The instrument is made fromthe trunk of a mulberry tree, the headfrom an animal skin such as goat, andthe strings either gut from theintestines of young goats or nylon.Rubab is one of the national musicalinstruments of Afghanistan andPakistan.

Jimmy, guitar and vocals. We enjoyhearing Jimmy perform. His classicalor Spanish guitar has a pickup toamplify it, a common appendage. Theearly guitars with gut strings had littleprojection and so were drowned bylouder banjos in the band until changeswere made. Important innovations wereintroduced by Martin Guitars. It isclaimed Martin first introduced steelstrings. [disputed] They then increasedthe area of the guitar top. Martin's largerbody size amongst acoustic performersis related to the greater sound volumeproduced. These innovations allowedguitars to compete with and oftendisplace the banjos that had previouslydominated jazz bands. The steel stringsincreased tension on the neck so forstability the neck is reinforced with asteel truss rod which has becomestandard. The metal strings has allowedthe common practice of fitting magneticpickups to amplify and electronicallymodify the sound. This hollow acousticguitar can be prone to feedback whenamplified so solid body electric guitarsare used to largely overcome that issue. The acoustic sound is much favouredespecially by classical players and theSpanish masters of the instrument.

What's the difference between abanjo and a Chain Saw?A banjo never runs out of fuel.

Why do canoeists often play banjos?Because banjos make good paddles.

"Haven't I seen your face before?" ajudge demanded, looking down at thedefendant."You have, Your Honor," the mananswered hopefully. "I gave your sonviolin lessons last winter.""Ah, yes," recalled the judge."Twenty years!"

What's wrong with driving off a cliffwith 5 violinists in a minivan? You could fit in seven or eight.

Why are violinists always playingscales? They can remember the tune.

A sobbing Mrs Murphy approachesFather O’Grady after mass.He says: “So what’s bothering you?”She replies: “Oh, Father, I’ve terriblenews. My husband passed away lastnight.”The priest says: “Oh, Mary, that’sterrible. Did he have any lastrequests?”"Certainly father," she replied. “Hesaid: “Please Mary, put down thatdamn gun.”

Billy stops Paddy in Dublin and asksfor the quickest way to Cork.Paddy says: "Are you on foot or inthe car?"Billy replies: "In the car." "Well that'sthe quickest way," says Paddy
