Separate groups for English and Spanish. Funeral Servers & Readers – Read, distribute Holy Communion and/or Serve funeral Masses. Must be available on weekdays. □ *Collection Counters – count the collection money after Mass, prepare deposit and bring to the bank. □ *Youth Group – Adult Leaders (specific need for Male leaders) to oversee and facilitate Youth meetings. □ Marriage Preparation- once a year to assist in a weekend course for couples preparing for marriage. Ideally a husband and wife. □ *Children’s Liturgy Leaders are to celebrate the Word of God with the Sunday Liturgical Readings, Prayer and Song appropriate to the children’s age during the Sunday Mass.

□ Lectors: Proclaim the Word of God and read Petitions at Sunday Masses.

□ Ministers of Holy Communion: To assist in the distribution of Holy Communion at Sunday Masses.

□ *Ministers of Holy Communion to the Sick - bring Holy Communion to the sick and Homebound and offer a prayerful support of the parish to the infirm and shut ins.

□ Choirs: All are welcome to enhance the Masses with vocal or instrumental talents at the 5 p.m., 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Masses. We are specifically looking for a pianist/organist and other musicians for the 9am Mass.

□ RCIA: Persons willing to assist new Catholics in their process of becoming Catholic.

□ Fundraising Committee: Volunteers who can assist the present committee with ideas, support and energy to raise monies to refurbish the church.

□ Volunteer Screening: To familiarize themselves with diocesan policy, the procedures for screening and are to receive the necessary training to undertake the task of volunteer screening.

□ * Spanish Catechism: Catechism in Spanish Language for children in grades K – 8 on Tuesday afternoons 4:15-5:15. Need for Adult Catechism and youth assistants. Material and assistance provided.

New/proposed Ministries needing volunteers

□ Bereavement Ministry: Help facilitate support group program for bereavement.

□ Welcome/Hospitality: Welcome new parishioners, help people find forms, register, give information about the parish before and after all Masses.

□ Choral Group: To sing music in multiple parts at the 11:00 a.m. Mass. Under the direction of Ms. Alina Janiszewski. Must be able to read music.

□ Outreach to Newcomers: welcome and offer support to new immigrants helping them to adapt to Canada and putting them in touch with resources available in our community. Since we are the only Spanish speaking parish in Halton region, main focus will be assisting Spanish Speaking newcomers.

Parish Groups Needing Continued Support Please contact the Parish Office for more information.

St. Vincent de Paul: Offering assistance to needy in our immediate area. Visit families and offer support. Assistance with moving and collecting furniture and distributing to those in need.

Development & Peace (D & P): To raise Parish awareness to the plight of the people in Third World countries.

Catholic Women’s League (CWL): Catholic woman in Canada, aged 16 and older are invited to journey in a sisterhood of faith, fun, and fulfillment.

Knights of Columbus (K of C): Marian Council is a fraternal community based council; active in Oakville and Halton Region through many Community Programs, Events and Charitable Donations

Rosary Apostolate: The Rosary Apostolate is a non-profit association of volunteers in the community that freely give of their time and talents to lead children, youth and families into a deeper relationship with God through prayer. 

40 Days for Life: A peaceful, prayerful, effective, group that prays to end abortion.

All volunteers will undergo basic screening and also be given training for their appropriate ministry. From time to time you are expected to attend meeting for planning and/or ongoing formation and training.

Many volunteers serve in positions of trust. The screening of volunteers helps to create and maintain a safe environment for all volunteers as well as those to whom they minister.

The Ministries marked with with * are considered High Risk and therefore the person applying for the Ministry is required to have a “Vulnerable Sector Screening Police Check”. It can take up to 6-8 weeks to obtain a Police Records Check. If you are interested in one of these ministries it is advised to apply as soon as possible. In Oakville please visit the Police Station at 1151 Bronte Road, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. or 95 Oak Walk Drive, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
