GORE JOINS PING’S PLAYOFF ROSTER

On Sunday, Jason Gore became the 10th PING pro to qualify for the FedExCup Playoffs

that begin this week at The Barclays. The 41-year-old’s second-place finish at the Wyndham Championship moved him within the top 125 points earners, highlighted by an eight-under 62 on Saturday, which gave him the 54-hole lead. Gore’s -16 total (66-67-62-69) was built on the strength of superb putting with a classic PING model.

Angela Stanford has qualified on points for her sixth U.S. Solheim Cup team,

while Azahara Muñoz made it onto Team Europe for the third time, this year based on her Rolex World Ranking (23rd). Stanford has compiled 82 top 10’s and five LPGA victories in her career. Muñoz has 33 top 10’s and one LPGA title.

The 14th Solheim Cup will be played Sept. 18-20 in

St. Leon-Rot, Germany. European Team Captain

and PING Pro Carin Koch will announce her four captain’s picks on Tuesday, Aug. 25th. The Europeans have won two straight Solheim Cups, and the U.S. leads the matches overall, 8-5.

PING pro Maria McBride is an assistant captain for Team Europe. Pat Hurst and Wendy Ward are assistant captains for Team U.S.A.

Fresh off her first LPGA victory the previous week and the thrill of being awarded her LPGA Tour card, Brooke Henderson was the face of women’s golf in her home country at the Canadian Pacific Women’s Open in Vancouver. The 17-year-old was the focus of media attention all week and fans lined the fairways to watch their native daughter. She turned in one of the best scores of the day on Sunday, a 4-under 67, to earn a T23 on rounds of 70-75-72-67.

Hunter Mahan is the defending champion this week at the first of four playoff events culminating at the Tour Championship, where a season-long FedExCup champion is crowned. Last year Billy Horschel took home that honor, along with $13.4 million in prize and bonus money. Between Mahan and Horschel, who won two playoff events, PING pros

accounted for three of four FedEx titles last season.

on a Scottsdale Anser putter that most likely was made in PING founder Karsten Solheim’s home garage in Arizona in 1966.

“It’s got soul and character,” Gore said of the putter. “And I love the feel.” Gore acquired the putter some 18 months ago, and has been using it since the Canadian Open.
