Pin Oak Stud – November 3, 2017
RACE RESULTS
WESTMORELAND (2yo)
(c., Tiznow—Westling) WOODBINE – Finished 6th in a maiden special last
Friday for Malcolm Pierce. He loomed up, made
kind of a middle move down the backstretch and
just flattened out. Seemed to come out of the race
in good shape. He went off as second choice, so
Malcolm obviously a little disappointed and feels
like he wants to get him on the grass the next time.
MAKE AMENDS
REMINGTON – MAKE AMENDS put two wins
back to back on Friday evening for the Von Hemel
barn. Stalking the pace most of the way, she eased
out the last sixteenth to win to by a length or so and
came out of the race in good shape. She’s won
three races this year, so we’re sure that Donnie will
search for a little black type somewhere for her.
This filly has continued to do well at Remington.
VERBOTEN (2yo)
(c., Elusive Quality—Tell Me Everything)
WOODBINE – He made it two for two over the
turf course on Sunday for Malcolm Pierce. With the
course labeled yielding and stretching out to a mile
the first time, Verboten stalked the pace with ease
and won as much the best even though the margin
of winning was only half a length. He was very
competently ridden and looks like he could have a
bright future, if all goes well.
ZESTFUL (2yo)
(c., Ghostzapper—Sweet Relish)
LAUREL – In making his second start for Graham
Motion, he finished 2nd which was an improvement
from his debut. He ran against a very nice horse
owned by Arnaud Delacour, but Graham seemed
happy with Zestful and said he will continue to
improve with every race.
CONSCRIPTION
REMINGTON – She finished 3rd last night for
Donnie Von Hemel in a condition allowance race
that ended up coming off the turf.
UPCOMING RACES
HIGHER POWER (2yo)
(c., Medaglia d’Oro--Alternate)
NOV 8 – A possible race for him at Remington, a
mile maiden. The colt is doing very well and
Donnie Von Hemel is looking forward to running
him back and stretching him out.
READY TO CONFESS
NOV 10 – A possibility for an allowance at
Churchill, weather permitting. We will enter her
“main track only” and see if the race goes. If not,
there’s a race in the book for Nov. 16. The filly is
doing well at this time.
TRAINER NEWS GRAHAM MOTION
FAIR HILL – FULL OF ZIP continues to train well
and there could be a race for her on Nov. 13 at
Laurel. POINT SYSTEM is getting a mini vacation
now and will not resume training until December in
Florida. 2yo NUMEROLOGIST is back galloping
and 2yo ZESTFUL returned from his race in good
shape.
MALCOLM PIERCE WOODBINE – Malcolm will be winding down his
meet at Woodbine over the next couple of weeks.
ARMAMENT continues to breeze well, as does
NOBLE THOUGHT, SCIENCE FICTION and
SECRET PASSAGE. There is a possible race for
NOBLE THOUGHT sometime closer to Thanks-
giving. A lot will depend on whether Malcolm is
still at Woodbine at that point or not. On Nov. 11,
there’s a race for YOU’RE MINE, going 1 1/16 mi.
on the Tapeta.
MIKE STIDHAM FAIR GROUNDS – Mike has moved into the Fair
Grounds now and we all know that means winter
racing is coming when the New Orleans track
opens up. SYNCHRONY and 2yo MISSIVE are
both doing well. There should be a race for
MISSIVE around Thanksgiving weekend and it
will be the first of the year before SYNCHRONY
is back in top gear.
DONNIE VON HEMEL REMINGTON – BROKEN PROMISE came out of
his race in good shape and hopefully
CONSCRIPTION has as well. MAKE AMENDS
returned from her winning ways in good order. 2yo
HIGHER POWER is scheduled to run on the 8th
and 2yo PLENTY QUICK continues to train well
at Churchill.
