Page 2: Pilmoor Memorial United Methodist Churchpilmoor.org/files/2018/08/PMUMC_Bulletin_08-12-2018.pdf · even cajoled." O. Benjamin Sparks, Feasting on the Word- Year B, Volume 3: Pentecost

"Our preaching is only noise to the ears unless listeners are drawn by the Father's love to hear it." Augustine "You just don't come to faith by yourself, through your own deduction, reasoning, and insight alone. You are wooed, invited, even cajoled." O. Benjamin Sparks, Feasting on the Word- Year B, Volume 3: Pentecost and season after Pentecost 1 (Propers 3-16)." From the beginning of creation God is continually searching and communicating to his human beings that were established on this earth by the created and divine Spirit moving upon the waters that cover the earth. God will not stop calling those to seek him and turn to receive the matchless grace and forgiveness that is offered to everyone. This is good news.

If you have a prayer concern you would like to have added to or removed

from the worship bulletin, you may use the prayer card in the pew pocket

or contact the church office, [email protected] or 252.232.2136.

Introit Announcements *Passing of the Peace

Prelude Bringing Forth the Light of Christ ENTRANCE AND PRAISE

*Opening Prayer

Come, Light of Christ, and illumine my darkness. Come, Lord of Life, and revive me from death. Come, my great Physician, and heal my wounds. Come, Flame of divine love, and burn up the thorns of my sins, kindling my heart with the flame of thy love. Come, my King of Kings, sit upon the throne of my heart and reign there. For you alone art my King and my Lord. Amen.

*Opening Hymn “I Love Thy Kingdom, Lord” 540

*Affirmation of Faith (The Apostle’s Creed) 881

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

*The Gloria Patri 71

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

The Prayers of the People
