When you think of other communities you
have lived in (or managed a business in),
or are similar to Pierce Township, how do
you feel about services (Fire/EMS, Police,
Road Maintenance, Parks, etc.) you get for
what you pay for in taxes? Please be as
specific as possible.

Always lived in Pierce Township
positive
Good
I feel safe
I feel it is good.
Fire and police are outstanding, rest are below average. Specifically, our parks don't offer much in the way of hiking trails, our hike/bike path has been promised but not
done for 15 years, and our road maintenance is not doing what is necessary to get the County to maintain its roads in Pierce.
Roads need to be fixed (Cole Road)
Response is timely for EMS/Fire; snow removal good; roads need more money/attention
They are excellent.
good
alright
Road maintenance should have no ticed by now. The road at the end of the driveway has been falling apart for close to a year. I've had to pick up pierces all the time. I
am elderly shouldn't have to do that.
almost as good as larger Anderson Township Good Job
Never had to use the services so can not comment
Fire/EMS - Police Ok Road Maintenance lack of on some. Parks need more
We have lived here 44 years essentially all our adult lives
There is less waste less polictics
fine
Fire & EMS good - Police & Road Maintenance poor - parks never used
great
I think that the are above average here. very courteous and professional
Response is quick and excellent
Service are excellent

These services are very good
Great
in some ways, more then needed could be less
They do a great job on most everything here.
Fire, EMS, Police & Park services are well run and managed. Road maintenance could use some improvement. Many roads need to be repaved.
Pierce Township's services are above what I received in other communities.
I do not know enough about the service to comment
I like Pierce Township & the services. The streets are cleared quickly.
I have lived in Silverton and Norwood so I believe the road maintenance and snow removal is excellent in Pierce. The parks I am acquainted with include Woodland Mound
(a gem) and Withrow Nature Preserve which I recommend frequenting for anyone unaware of them. I have not required Fire/EMS services but have observed quick
responses from both.
Services overall are fair. However, I am concerned about the future of the township as services keep being cut back while there are no clear plans for future planning.
I pay $6500 in property tax, and my neighbors pay the same. Total tax is about $35000. Calumet Dr. sould be maintained by Pierce Township, for that much tax.
Average.
The services are good but parks are lacking
Not sure
Road Maintenance is poorly managed and lacking in keeping up with routine repair--unless it's in Legendary.
I lived in Batavia Twp prior to Pierce & really do not have an opinion about either. I did use EMS once approx. 20-25 yrs ago in Pierce & it was very good.
I've never lived in a similar type community.
I have lived in Pierce for 28 years. Pierce services are extremely good, there is not a lot of waste, they know how to stretch a dollar
We are grateful to have the services, but they could definitely be improved based on our experiences elsewhere.
Pierce Township services are responsive. No complaints.
i've here since 1974
better
Anderson Twp. has excellent services, parks etc. as well as Pierce Twp.
substandard old equipment.
The services are commensurate with taxes.
fair value
nothing to say, sorry
Road maintenance on behymer is a problem
yes
I like Ohio township the maintenance seem to be pretty good and the taxes are lower
They are fine.
Acceptable
doing a good job!
Yes, I do.
Pierce Twp. is a bargain
I feel that the services are very good for the amount of taxes that are paid.

N/A
Been here for 34 years and feel taxes are fair and services good.
I don't have much to compare, but I have been very impressed with police, fire and snow removal response times. Police and fire personnel have been easy to deal
with.
Excellent response by police and excellent presence in neighborhood. Police always wave to motorists which makes the neighborhood very friendly.
good
lived in Pierce Twp 50+ yrs. No experience elsewhere.
I'm disappointed with road maintenance. Specifically when culverts are replaced...it takes entirely too long to patch the road. You nearly have an accident avoiding the
HUGE holes where the gravel has worked out.
comparable
About the same
Property taxes are high
Tired of seeing fire trucks at Kroger shopping with two and three men
Fire and police are fine. Road maintenance is poor. Snow removal is acceptable, but ongoing maintenance is terrible. I'm sick of having crumbling curbs on my street.
It is acceptable.
have not used any services
Our Fire and EMS does an outstanding job. The fact they're response time is SO fast during late, evening or off hours says volumes. Having EMS at the station has
saved many, many lives.
they are similar
Currently, I am very satisfied with these services. Fire and police have responded to my house alarm in a timely and efficient manner. They do a great job!
Not sure. Would like to know how many runs fire, police make and measures taken to be more cost effective. Feel overall, road conditions are good. Do not use parks.
The trash collection service is wonderful for the cost in the taxes we pay for it.
Good value for services compared to other communities we have lived in.
Have not used Fire/EMS or Police services. Maintenance seems OK, except over behind Jimmy Johns/Donatos area, the roadway is awful. The parks aren't great. We
moved from Milford since Pierce Twp is more affordable and we notice why now. It isn't awful but since the taxes aren't as high in Pierce Twp we don't really complain
about it much.
Very good; however, we all need to examine operation to eliminate waste and irresponsible use of funds
We love the rural feeling but being close to the city
been here forever
Yes
The value. I receive for my dollar is good. Taxes are reasonable. Parks are not very attractive and too small.
While I have not studied it systematically; to my experience, our taxes are relatively low. From that perception, I conclude that we receive good service for the money. I do
wonder how long that can last.
Fire/EMS and police response time is good. Roads could be more consistently cleared. Drivers vary in their attention given to roads, This past winter I noticed one driver
cleared the streets in the subdivision with meticulous attention to his efforts and salted when done. It took him awhile, but it was done above and beyond what I've seen.
Service as expected with the amount of taxes paid.
All services is first rate
Very good
Have not had direct experience with police or fire. Road maintenance could be better but is difficult without curbs or gutters. taxes ok

Have no hard and fast opinion as we have lived here 4 1/2 months
Taxes are too high. Property is over valued by the county auditor
Taxes are far higher in Pierce
The services are very good for the money.
I don't see significant improvements on a yearly basis especially in the parks. I do not have kids in the school system so I would like to see my tax dollars going to
improvements in the parks that I use.
They are superior to other places I have lived.
I definitely receive what I pay for, actually I feel better than the norm
Police are prompt Fire dept are always on the move the parks are nice but lack proper restrooms and trash removal even water fountain that works.
I believe our taxes are high. We came from Anderson where taxes are also high. There are times when we haven't seen a new taxable item pass and our taxes still seem
to go up. I think part of this is because we live or are included under the umbrella of Ledgendary Run. I think the items mentioned above provide good services although I
have been lucky enough not to have to use the fire/ems.
HAPPY
no past comparison
Good except for the lack of completion of the 3/4 mile portion of the circular hike/bike trail that the Township agreed to do in a court settlement in 1997. They also fail
to maintain the trail as required in the settlement.
I haven't used the Fire/Ems, but have talked with the Police in regards to non emergencies, and found everything was taken care of in a timely manner and they called me
back regarding the situation.
Services are among the best of any place we have lived
I think we have good services in Pierce for what we pay. Fortunately, we haven't had to use Fire/EMS or Police, but, we know they are responsive and are courteous. We
feel safe and comfortable that if we need them in the future they will respond.
I am very proud of our fire/ems. And our police department is too notch
I think the township should allow one free EMS call per residence a year instead of sending them a bill
Services are appropriate for what is paid in taxes. However, higher taxes for the same level of services is unacceptable.
good
The fire/ems, no experience with. The salt trucks do a good job in the winter, but road maintenance for pot holes is very poor. Naegele Rd is very bad. Once a year someone
comes and dumps a bag or 2 of patch in potholes, they come back bigger. The turn from Lewis Rd is terrible. So many trucks going on and off the street, it has caused
severe road damage and damage to front lawns from tires. There is a house on the street that looks like a Fed X hub with 3 to 4 trucks there every night and weekends. I
thought there was a zoning law against this? I would like to see sidewalks on the street or maybe widen the 1st part of the street, that would help. I would gladly give up 4 or
5 feet of front yard for this to happen. I like the parks very much. I enjoy the walking trail, very clean. Very nice cemetery, well maintained.
Tops Very professional and very responsive
Here too long to compare 18 years
We have lived in Pierce Township since 1959
Anderson Township

Road & Curb maintenance could be better. The curb in front of my house has needed repair for over 8 years

I've never had to use the fire/ems or police. So I am not sure if the response time is good or not. Road maintenance seems to be good.
High in value.
Services are better
Not as good road clearing and repair in Pierce as in Green Township
Everything is great
excellent fire and police, I have a problem with the road maintenance. My road has not been maintained as the storm water drain is collapsing and this is not unusual.
Around the corner they have pasted a patch where the same is happening. My drain is having my ground in my yard collapse into the drain.
We feel safe and protected in the community where we live
Feel good about it -
They are better than other communities.
Thankfully have not needed either. Good police presence and a friendly wave
Never noticed
Great
It would be nice if there was a park like Miami Meadows in Milford.
only live in Pierce and payed taxes here
Just fine.
Lived in union township and services were about the same.
Good
Excellent - Lived in several states
above average
more than enough services
very good well trained and professional
I come from Anderson Township services are similar and taxes are moderate.
I have not used the Police/EMS/Fire services but I assume they are fine. The playground is very nice, but needs a "real" bathroom.
I've been asking for road and culvert repair on dorado court with no response except being lied to. Supervisor said it would be fixed last fall and nothing was done. This
has been going on for years. You should fire the supervisor.
Police and fire are very visible; make me feel comfortable
I lived in Union Township previously and I am LOVING Pierce. The police presence in our neighborhood is awesome! And I love the park. We need another park or expand
current one. More similar to Woodland Mound or Juliffs.
What I like most about Pierce Twp is the rural setting and the easy access to Cincinnati. Other than road maintenance, I haven't had much occasion to use other Twp
services so it is difficult for me to comment on them.
NA
I have never had to have police or fire department attention, so I cannot answer this question accurately. I will say that I previously lived in Union Township, but I feel a
more intense presence of fire and police in Pierce Township than I do in Union Township.
Police dept the best
Snow removal in the winter is very poor! I live in a cul-de-sac, and they either take one strip down the middle and leave the rest of the cul-de-sac unplowed, or they plow it
in front of our mailboxes so our mail isn't delivered because the mail truck can't get to the boxes. I shouldn't have to shovel that big pile, and my elderly neighbor can't!
I feel that I get a lot of value for what I pay in taxes. I travel quite a bit, and I think that many residents of Pierce Township do not know how well they have it. Our taxes
are low compared to what we get.

The police always wave to us! Friendly
Our services surpass adjoining townships, towns, and conties
above average
I have no contact with Fire, EMS, Police. The parks are okay but nothing like complexes in Anderson or Batavia Townships.
Better than City of Cincinnati
Parks need lots more to offer (i,e, restaurants, picnic shelter)
Our road maintenance is better than we experienced in Anderson Township
yes
Excellent
yes
I believe there is more inner action between the community and local government.
get what we pay for
okay
only improvement that needs addressed are the road conditions. no problem with snow/ice removal but the roads could be better maintained
Compared to previous residence in Anderson - taxes are lower and service is better
Comparable
We have lived in Pierce Township for over 40 years and feel as though we have always gotten very good service in the above mentioned.
NO - Roads should be maintained better
I feel they are the same as other communities.
I have only been a home owner in Pierce Township, no other experience to compare to
Happy with and support police, fire & EMS. Take grand kids to the playground. The streets in our subdivision - Country Club Estates -need replacement. Snow removal
is good. Taxes are high.
THE TAXES ARE FAIR. I THINK THE SCHOOL TAX IS QUESTIONABLE, WE SUPPORT 2 SYSTEMS.
I especially like when the police and fire are visible during events such as Halloween.
I think Pierce township is up to par with other communities
TAXES ARE ON THE HIGH SIDE BUT WE DO GET EXCELLENT SERVICES
Road maintenance like pot holes are not as well maintained here.
NEVER HAD TO USE FIRE, EMS OR POLICE IN ANDERSON TOWNSHIP. ARKS RARELY USED IN ANDERSON. SNOW REMOVAL N PIERCE SUPERIOR
TO IN ANDERSON.
Below average compared to other areas I've lived
Feel relatively secure; however with the large increase in retail business and the need to protect/maintain a larger base, question how thin the umbrella of protection has
become.
we paid more taxes in Hamilton Cty and the services were about the same
Seems about average. Have never needed the police or fire/EMS.
N/A This is the only home we have owned
I have had mixed experiences with Fire/EMS and Police. Police: Every encounter was a good one they gave correct advice and follow-up was excellent - once on
disturbing the peace incident. Also, upon request they increase their presence and have responded promptly to theft and other calls in my community. Fire: Came to fight
a fire and could not because of delayed interface with Duke. Also, the fire hydrant didn't work and they were confused about how to use the heat sensing equipment.
no issues

It seems that services should be provided by the county not the township. I have never experienced township government in 5 other places I have lived.
Good services for reasonable taxes.
Yes.
We appreciate the prompt snow removal in Legendary Run.
I realize that the Township claims no responsibility for snow removal on Locust Corner. However, since the County does such a poor job in clearing the snow then it
becomes the responsibility of the Township to get it done correctly whatever that solution may entail or the Trustees will be considered deficient.
I have lived in Pierce Township for over 50 years.
Response time is good, friendly, helpful
Excellent
average
I'm satisfied with the township services received versus the cost to me in taxes.
I feel we do pretty well for what we pay in taxes.
Great Value
Outstanding value. The police and EMS personnel are first class and represent the township well.
They are about the same.
In my experiences as a ten year resident of PT I feel the services provided are adequate and meaningful to meet the needs of residents and small businesses.
It seems to be about right.
Good value
We have lived here for 45 years so do not have a comparison.
This is the only township I have owned a home in and paid taxes. But am overally very pleased with what Pierce Twnshp has to offer!
Pretty good
good
Services in the past were better. Snow removal was better 10 tears ago. This applies to road repair also
I think they are very good. I feel safe knowing they are so close and responsive.
Fire/EMS, Police and Parks are outstanding. We'd like to see some improvements on Locust Corner Road near the park/township building area, and the addition of
sidewalks would be a great future investment.
My feelings were adequately expressed in the scale above.
I think we spend too much on fire/EMS, and not enough on parks and roads.
I love this area and the beauty of it. I have no complaints.
Services are very good, but cost seems quite high.
As good as any I have known, including Mariemont
I am comfortable in what we receive for our tax dollars.
On average they are about the same. I do not feel the current Pierce Township level of service does anything extra or remarkable. They show up if I call -- which is average
and expected. Prior places the fire department came around and did free safety inspections. The police were more visible and actually called for open garages etc. I think
the parks are ok but honestly do not use the public open space that much. The fence around the parks on locust corner is horrible as is that road (I know the county). The
construction on that part of the road seems to have gone on for a long time further messing up the road. Our subdivision road is in bad shape which is Pierce township and
snow removal has been +/- usually good but still icy on the hill at times. Prior communities have done for pop up services for residents like (medication recycling days, E-
waste recycling days, shred days, free large trash pickup etc.....
Fire and Police are responsive and I feel they do a good job. Snow removal is also very good as the roads are kept clear in a reasonable amount of time. I think road
repair is lacking and needs to be improved.
Much better when compared to Dallas TX
Value for money
road maintenance could be improved
you get what you pay for
services fit the needs

Pierce is better
EMS and Police departments are excellent. If I could rate higher than a 10 I would. Have had to use the EMS several times and am so grateful to them.
Yes Anderson as Pierce Township are comparable Legendary Run
Our subdivision streets haven't been re-blacktopped over 20 years
poor
Based on the highest taxes we are now paying in Pierce Township, services are very much comparable.
Very good service per word of mouth. Thankfully, it has not been necessary to utilize the services.
I never owned property anywhere else, so have nothing to relate to.
Good services for taxes paid
Road maintenance and parks services seem to be better than other communities. Not much experience with police or fire services
Have lived in Miami Township, Clermont Co., and your services here far outweigh their's.
They are similar to better.
Not familiar with parks so uncertain of their value. Acceptable level of safety-related services for tax dollars.
N/A
I perceive waste at Pierce in its purchasing of unnecessary heavy maintenance equipment
Same
EMS/Police outstanding, road & parks fair.
From what I have observed the services are very good here.
Comparable
I live in Legendary Run so if Pierce isn't responsible for the roads, I take back the negative rating above. However I think the PD & FD are friendly and last
summer when we had a car continuing to case the neighborhood the police increased drive by's. They were responsive.
Actually, we have had little need for fire/EMS, police or parks so I cannot fairly evaluate their service. Also it would help if we knew the budget and number of service
people we are currently employing so a judgment could be made on increase/decrease staffing
Little better
so much better than Cincinnati
I enjoy the fact that in a smaller town you actually see your tax dollars having a result in better quality of life. I have lived in much larger communities where things
never seemed to change or only got worse.
About the same.
Excellent on all
Moved here from Anderson Township. Much easier to connect with local police and firefighters.
On same level as Green Township
I find these services are equal to the services I received when I lived in both Anderson Township and Union Township.

Road maintenance is sub par. I'm not sure who is in charge of any given road but most of them need work on the edges. The narrower roads and deep ditches right at the
edges potentially make for a very dangerous situation.
Satisfactory
I wish Pierce Township had a larger, more well equipped park and playground. I cannot comment as to the Fire/EMS and Police services.
As good as any other township, city or county.
We lived Anderson previously. Pierce is outstanding compared to Anderson.
I think the services and coverage are adequate for what I pay in taxes.
The Fire/EMS has always been great, but I am sometimes disappointed with road maintenance.
Road maintenance seems very slow to respond when compared to surrounding townships, i.e. union & anderson.
Road maintenance is good, haven't used other services.
excellent
about average
I have lived in Pierce Township for 5 years. I ave never call Fire/EMS or Police. Our roads are cleared of snow very quickly.
Similar.
Fire/EMS was a separate charge in Knoxville. This is a better system than that. The Park System in Toledo, OH was second to none! We do not use the parks in Pierce
Township. Pierce Township Police offer vacation patrol which is much appreciated. Luckily, we haven't needed the fire/EMS services.
good

very good

Good
others are fine - don't use or know about Parks
Police ok, fire is not a bargain
Great value
taxes are to high now, just had a prop tax increase
Growing up I lived in a city (suburb) of Cleveland and felt more in touch with fire and police dept. I observe better police presence over hamilton county sheriff when living
in Anderson Twp.
Road maintenance lacks, especially snow removal in residential neighborhoods.
Good service
We've lived here for 47 years. It's difficult to make a comparison.
Parks/recreation sorely lacking; states of disrepair; upgrades needed; go to Batavia Township for a model
About the same as our previous community
Too many run down properties. Too many properties with junk cars parked in yards and/or boats, etc. Bands and loud parties are allowed in residential areas and
businesses near residential areas. This happens even on Sundays. If there are restrictions regarding these issues, they are not enforced.
Taxation rates here are a bargain compared to other areas nearby.
I have not lived in other areas as an adult to offer more info here.
very good value
For the taxes I pay, I do not feel that I am getting my money's worth.
good value....havent' "used" police or fire services, but I like having garbage pick up and recycling included in our taxes

Road maintenance could be much better.
I've rarely needed their services but I feel secure that their response time would be all at I would expect
I grew up in Anderson Township and not only are our taxes lower, but the community is better.
Get good service for what we pay in taxes.
Roads need work
Services are good for what we pay. The police seem to care about the safety of our community and would rather be proactive than reactive.
I have not paid property taxes in any other areas but I feel our services are fine for what we pay in taxes.
n/a
Yes, Pierce is comparable. I have resided in Batavia Township and the Village of Amelia in the past.
I don't really know.
piveosit
Road maintenance where I live is poor. (Spindletop Hill)
on par
I think the services in Pierce Township are very good compared to other communities. The roads are well maintained and the police and fire departments are good. I
also like the trash pick up included in the taxes and that we have recycling.
Excellent
I have not had a need to use Pierce services much since I have lived in the township. I live on a private road and use county roads to get to and from my road. I do not use
the parks. The service I have received from both police and fire (once each since 2006) has been fine.
I think we're getting pretty much we're paying for. Obviously, with the short fall from the Duke Energy pull-out that leaves a hole.
I have never had to use Fire/EMS or Police services in the past so I don't have an opinion on that. I also have nothing to compare it to as I have lived in Pierce
Township for most of my adult life.
Yes
I think having the support of the township people is vital to making a strong township.
better since it has its own fire and police
Police are overstaffed, providing little ROI, as there is not sufficient need given their numbers. Given the demographics of the area, we need EMS, parks,
programs for children and the elderly.
Fire/Police are excellent... Road Maintenance satisfactory...parks too few
everything is good. road maintenance could be better.
Never think about it! That's how nice it is... I know that when/if I need them they'll be there.
have had to use these services and have been extremley pleased ..with time responding and the care
No complaints
I am highly impressed with the Fire/EMS & Police Dept of Pierce Township. They are quick to respond to emergencies, answering questions and providing immediate
feedback to concerns. Pierce Township police keep the roads safe, are visible to the community, professional and friendly. Road maintenance crews do a phenomenol job
at maintaining the roads.
Businesses should make up lost tax revenue since Beckjord supplemented in the past
I think too many businesses have closed which has resulted in many empty buildings/spaces in strip malls.
Other Communities that I have lived in , I found the fire , Ems, Parks fine, and I find that Perce Township is very good except the road mainrtenance could be better on
some roads even though they may not be the responsibilty of Pierce township. Beadbury road and nine mile is very unsafe and poorly maintained the accident record must
speak for itself.
The services provided are great
Road maintenance, especially Bradbury Rd is horrendous. Snow removal is ok. Fire,EMS are very good.

Yes, except in 2006-2007 when the Township Maintenance crew was suppose to dig a drainage ditch in my newly established front yard and didn't.
Hyde Park - Fire, Police, Road Maintenance, Parks Oakley - Fire, Police, Road Maintenance
Good considering the lower taxes
Pierce seems superior to other places.
I cannot easily compare since I'd have to know what each service's taxes are NOW for both Anderson Twp. and Pierce Twp.
I have not needed the service of police or fire but I do feel I have seen them in our neighborhood and have confident in their services. I think they are an important

service that is definitely needed!
Fire/EMS, Police services are adequate, could use improvement with parks
The EMS is outstanding! Thank you!
Union Township may have an edge however they have more businesses and a better tax base to pull from. Batavia Township has more facilities for concerts and get-
togethers.
I lived in Wyoming, where city taxes were quite high. I feel just as comfortable and safe in Pierce Township.
Road maintenance is sub par.
Very Disappointing regarding road and water control responsiveness

I think we get good value for our dollars compared to other places where I have lived.
These services are very competent and adequate.
We lived in Hamilton County and there is no comparison to what we receive here. A great job is done by all here.
Return for taxes is better than any other place I have lived.
I am very pleased with the level of services in Pierce. I moved here from Anderson Township about 7 years ago, and find the services and taxes comparable
If you could make one change that would improve Pierce Township as a place to
live or do business, it would be......

I can not think of anything it is a good place to rise your family.

I'm satified
Don't know what is needed. Do what is needed for growth
Resurface Bennett Road
Road improvements
Pick up garbage in Parks daily keep clean
Put in a nice Boat ramp like Anderson is doing.
Improve the deteriorating roads and continue to add green spaces (parks etc.)
I wish we had a little strip mall or a couple stores, a coffee shop, small convenience store, along Locust Corner Road, and tear down those less than desirable houses.
(Locust Corner & Wagner corner)
Make trustees more accountable to the people.
In a perfect world I would be able to travel to areas in Hamilton Co without having to go way around via I-275.
Focus Township growth in areas that attract a more secure demographic: residents who willingly pay taxes, take pride in their homes and neighborhoods, and support
civic activities.

Reduce property tax for homeowners that dont get their street maintained.
Attract more upscale business and restaurants (not fast food). Work with ODOT on the traffic congestion on Ohio Pike.
Remove all of the signs along the road.
Improve park, adding more activities, as Union Township
Replace Public Works Manager with a true and experience leader who understands managerial skills and responsibility.
Relax the building restrictions
Don't wait to the last minute to request additional funding (levies)
Lower taxes. Better infrastructure. There is no sewer on Jenny Lind. Better access to high speed internet.
Maintain current residential atmosphere.
Road maintenance needs improvement.
add more business zoning to increase tax base.
Have a sidewalk and/or bike path along or near Behymer Rd so children in the Legendary Run area could walk or bike to the Locust Corner Elementary school.
speaking selfishly - a running track around Sky Valley
More restaurants above fast food level
more restraunts
Bring more restaurants on 125 like panera, noodles, or macAlisters and get rid of the junk. Aso please fix BRADBURY Rd. It keeps falling away! It needs to be
wider!!!!!
Take care of the side roads better
The roads to and from Legendary Run-- they're abysmal.
Better restaurants.
Give older senior citizens a break in the taxes. We are being taxed out of our homes.
Will be great to have more sidewalks in the neighborhoods such as Turnberry, etc.
Nothing
I am not sure I would change something at this point; I don't believe in changing something that doesn't need it!
Try to attract more restaurants (non fast food)
Not related to your efforts, but West Clermont schools could be better.
Regular updates on accomplishments and challenges as they occur.
Better zoning and changes to zoning. There are a lot of empty storefronts and buildings that are not taken care of.
Live within your means. Most of us have to.
better roads and snow removal
???
Please finish repairs in a timely manner once started. See response above.
improve road maintenance
More park or recreation space
Publish 10 year history of financial statements and post these on website
Better zoning, better planning, and better road maintenance.
unsure
put some stripes on residential streets, especially Arcadia and rt125, people making left to 125 take both lanes.
Get better equipment for the EMS/Fire and pay them a LOT better to keep experienced people at the department.
pot hole repair and wider roads
Attract more higher-end restaurants in Pierce Township.
Realize residents pay enough in property taxes and some may be just as strapped as the township to make ends meet.
The hill from Nine Mile to Davis has a large hole on the side that you wouldn't want to get a tire into. PLEASE fill in that hole to make the hill safe to navigate.
More restaurants and retail shops
More parks for kids to play. Less car dealerships. Better traffic, such as a light installed at the end of Lewis/White Oak to get out onto Ohio Pike. When we have people visit,
that's usually their complaint.
To keep residents well informed and involved as this circular appears to be doing.
limit so much signage at businesses for sales etc. Looks junky!
Improve the road (Bradberry)
Find a niche to attract similar businesses. whether it's hi-tech manufacturing or a service industry etc... Designate an area for these businesses to locate, offer incentives, find
something you can really market.
Somehow create compatible commercial, primarily retail, development at Nine Mile & US 52 and Ten Mile & US
52. This would enhance our tax base and make things like a paper, milk, or a good cup of coffee more convenient for residents.
To police the neighborhoods during the day for suspicious cars with drivers parked. To consider sidewalks in high traffic areas of a subdivisions. Ex: Hunters Run Drive, off
of Merwin Ten Mile, Twiggs, Red Thorne. No where for kids to ride bikes or neighbors to walk. Demographics are changing and older people like to walk in their
neighborhoods. Mothers and fathers with little ones struggle to keep them safe with cars going by. Anyone or anything walking is at risk.
Stop looking for ways to improve Pierce Township, look for ways to manage your income.

lower taxes for retired residence
Improve Bradbury road - falling apart and dangerous on downhill side. Not wide enough in places if passing a large vehicle road essential and heavily used service
Legendary Run was developed.
Improvement to road shoulders
1. Development of near vacant properties (ie White Oak - 10 mile) would be good 2. Few persons including myself know the Pierce Township boundaries (I've heard
comments that really apply to Union Township) 3. Communication send us a map
see above
Improve economy by attacking business that will provide jobs.
Less property owner (residents) restriction and tax
Extra trash privilege say 3 or 4 days a year. Where we can put out extra trash. garages and basements attics etc... need cleaned out once in a while
Better roads.
Sidewalks
NONE
Maintain the feeling of rural/just outside the city that is a clean low key environment with mixed use.
Open up a local store within the community where we could but bread, milk, beer.
I have no suggestions at this time as I do not spend much time within the community itself.
MAYBE CONCERTS IN THE PARK, OR SOMETHING ALONG THOSE LINES
Make the park on locus corner (the undeveloped one) more active. Maybe add a frisbee golf coarse or something. Add picnic table and grills to all parks.
Elect competent leaders that can be trusted to honor agreed to court settlements and not mislead the community.
We would like to have water and not rely on having it hauled in.
A better business district
More walking paths
Move the police and firestation out closer to Ohio Pike
Increase taxes on businesses and non-resident employees instead of the residents! Businesses like Wal-Mart have gotten tax breaks to locate in the township, sucking up
resources but not paying their fare share for them.
no idea
Sidewalks on residential and streets with many businesses.
More Open Space.
Mow Bradbury Road more often
A liquor store
Widen Merwin Ten Mile
none
enforce ordinances concerning property maintenance, junk cars, storage of boats, campers, trash and trash cans etc...
The snow removal has not been the greatest on side streets within past 2 years. It has been very hard to leave my driveway to get out to the main road.
When a resident calls about a problem with the curb in front of house over three times, maybe someone in maintenance could at the very least, give the resident a call
back.
attack more business to reduce taxes
Music in the Park
Improve the Ohio Pike corridor. Many parts today are eyesores!
Better communication to residents from the Trustees
Add sidewalks! Especially on busy streets.
Better road maintenance
At least check the roads and possibly seal so the rocks are not coming out of the blacktop.
I emailed about the ditches not draining months ago, multiple times and have never gotten a response.
widen Ten Mile Road from Beechmont to White Oak Road
finish the sidewalk project close to legendary trails! seems like it is taking forever!
Less traffic congestion on Ohio Pike.
Better restaurants. More bike trails
Don't know
Create a nice inviting park with plenty of green space.
anyone who lives here would pay taxes live in apts.
Better roads.
I would like to see a plan addressing the hiker biker trails upkeep in L R . We have requested info about maintaining years ago and never did get any answers. Is the plan
to not maintain but let them be replaced at a later time? I do not see any maintainance in the last 14 years I lived here. Maintenance is needed as there are roots breaking
up walkways, wear and tear with normal usage require an additional coat of sealer. Plenty of use but little attention. Yes, funds are needed but I would like info on the plan.
If there ever was one?
Cancel public transporation
provide a site for residents to drop off yard waste and tree limbs (similar to union township)

keep taxes low
develop long range, prudent economic plan with modest tax increase. realistic projections are required with emphasis on resident safety. be conservative re: parks and
recreation
More trustee, etc..to the public awareness
reduce litter on Bradbury. Needs cleanup 3X year. I live in Legendary Run. I think our residents would volunteer for cleanup more than once a year if you closed the road.
Fire the road repairs supervisor. As he has lied to me personally I think he has and will lie to others. Similarly, township sent a letter of violation regarding an automobile
without checking with me or even checking the auto. The auto was in complete compliance and the person issuing the letter would have known this if he had bothered to
check. He should be fired.
More of a structured walking track (mile markers, extend current one) at Pierce park or somewhere else, and more notification of organized activities there. More police
events there. And more meeting minutes, etc posted on township website. Make that big farm behind Windsor Place/Locust corner a BIG park with walking track,
amphitheater, green space, etc!
I would like to see a large park with a walking path, play area for children and picnic area for residents.
More parking for businesses and retail shops.
more for older kids ages 10-14
Stricter enforcement on yard maintenance, such as high grass, cattails growing in ditches, and trimming trees and bushes back for better visibility onto main roads.
Fix the road that is all chewed up just east of the park on Locust Corner Road. (yes, I know this is probably a country road, but Pierce Township can apply pressure to
get it fixed). It got torn up due to construction on the Legendary Run side of the road.
Make some streets wider like Wagner - School bus and cars just don't fit.
i would like to see an extended bike trail and a community swimming pool; extend park facilities to the area of ash pits - include walking/bike/trails; keep greenspace instead
of subdivisions.
better communications between administration/residents; Community Journal not adequate.
increased recreational venues
Improve the transparency of communication between Township administration and residents. Lack of above includes quite a bit of miscommunication/misinformation on
important issues by excluding residents' input.
Enhance Ohio Pike to look more uniform (i.e. Exterior architecture and appearance codes like Anderson & Deerfield Township)
set up pricing co-operatives with Duke Energy and other residential utility providers (cable, Cincinnati Bell, etc.) to provide discounted rates to homeowners. This may help to
offset additional taxes needed.

continue improvements to Cole Road
a central place for yard waste

make area more attractive for businesses to bring more jobs to the area. widen roadway and make necessary road repairs. limit HUD housing and keep drup dealers out
of our township.
Consolidate management with neighboring Village of Amelia as well as Ohio Township and New Richmond
More independently owned restaurants (non-chain)
Taxes are to high for what we get and the traffic is getting terrible.
More Noise Oridances. These BOOM Cars Wake me up at night.
Lower taxes
You cannot just keep raising taxes. We need more tax paying businesses and maybe a nonresident tax. How/why is state holding back funding now?
limited business development to increase/offset tax income requirements
More businesses
DO NOT ALLOW FUTURE CONSTRUCTION OF HOMES (IN A SUBDIVISION) ALLOWED,IF THEY DO NOT INCLUDE SIDEWALKS. A FUND TO BANK ON WHEN
NEED REPAIRED.
make sidewalks/ bike paths and crosswalks especially on heavily traveled roads such as Beechmont.
Add a new industrial to mobile home park building restriction from 50' free space to 10' free space to include trees planted every 25'. In my case this would allow two more
acres for industrial development which could add approx.
$1,100, 000 property valuation and jobs for approximately 30 employees.
TO WIDEN JENNY LIND RD
Put a red stop light at the intersection of White Oak and 125 or Appomatox and 125 before there is a very serious accident. We have two car accidents at Appomatox and

In force the rule to make people cleanup their property and dispose of junk/trash
Ensuring we have adequate and QUALITY services.
specifically where we live (on Locust Run) I think noise laws should be changed in terms of target practice/it is way to dense here for people on Locust Corner to be
shooting even on their own property
Nothing comes to mind.
Pierce township does a wonderful job with timely snow removal. There are a few roads, such as Bradbury, that could use some maintenance, but understand the
budgetary constraints in this area.

Generally improve physical appearance and infrastructure services. For instance, the "gateway" at nine mile and Old 52 is very unattractive. Add more developments like
Legendary and even the older Turnberry. Expand underground utilities. Provide infrastructure in advance of development to entice development. Nice work along
Beechment Ave.
improved schools
Beautiful Ohio Pike by working with businesses....
More walking/bike paths
I would be intentional about making it a more diverse community and would place a higher emphasis on education than on anything else.
This would be an even better community if it were "walker" friendly. Sidewalks on White Oak, & Merwin 10 Mile would be a great start
Road maintenance needs more resources.
Remove the trappings and inefficiency of the artificial boundaries of the Township for all administrative matters.
Can't think of anything
move businesses that AREN'T automotive related...it's a depressing place business-wise
This isn't necessarily a change but to continue enforcing zoning restrictions to prevent high density development to prevent higher vehicle traffic on our "country-type" roads
in the future. I don't want other Pierce Township roads to look like St. Rt. 125!
A greater emphasis on infrastructure away from the township center (fire/police/township park/legendary area) - more sidewalks making pedestrian traffic to Ohio Pike
areas safer, repair/resurfacing neighborhood streets, etc.
Better managed road work. I understand road work is necessary but the scheduled maintenance is poorly managed. The schedules seem to be rarely met and final
completion last forever.
Find a way to attract some higher end restaurants to the area. Getting tired of looking at all of the fast food restaurants along Route 125. You have to leave the
township to get a decent meal or anything that even resembles a healthy one.
Put more emphasis on keeping older equipment running longer, and take a hard look at personnel costs. I've been part of budget cut backs before. You really have to re-think
how you do things. Additional money from levies or income taxes will only be supported by the people when this has been demonstrated.
Roadways under the responsibility of PT are in dire need of maintenance improvement. Specifically the connector between 9 mile and Behymer. The erosion due to
large/heavy truck traffic is dangerous and may soon become deadly.
Lower property taxes!
Complete the walking trail on Locust Corner Rd for Legendary Trails
Support our police, fire and EMS personel to the fullest including more staff and benefits.
Nothing
reduce vehicle noise in early morning hours
Behymer is in terrible shape and pretty dangerous. It is the only item off hand I can think of that I would like to see improved. All else is pretty good in my opinion.
Widen a few roads and add sidewalks where possible.
SIDEWALKS. If there were sidewalks, my family would do less driving. Ability to exercise is also important. Right now we have to go to a park with a walking path if we want
to jog.
I've often thought of moving because there aren't any sidewalks or walking paths. I desperately want to walk out of my house and go running (safely). The layout of this
community is perfect for sidewalks - I feel like I live on an island.
Better roads.
????
Make Bradbury & Locust Corner Roads safer.
Sidewalks
Improve plowing of town roads. I come from the northeast where they understand how best to plow roads. I don't buy the excuse that Cincinnati rarely receives snow so
maintenance crews don't need to worry about how to plow roads. We get snow -- not a lot of it -- but we get snow and ice and therefore maintenance crews should know
how to plow. Waiting until the snow stops falling before plowing is not satisfactory. We have a lot of hills and those roads should be properly maintained in the winter. I
shouldn't have to reroute my trip to exclusively flat roads whenever there is icy conditions.
Work to remove blighted properties through more aggressive enforcement (which would also help revenues). Work on better branding - the new logo is a plus but where is
all the public signage or common themed landscaping. Seriously look at reducing costs before going back to the taxpayer well asking for levy money if you cant find a way to
bring more business revenue into the township.
I would add more parks and bike trails. I would also repair the pot holes / road repair. We (the community) needs to look vibrant and new which I feel the road conditions
make us look bad. As far as parks - having more parks or updated parks also puts a good face on the community.
Better restaurants
More diversity
planned waterfront
to make everyone keep their property lawn cut & yard clean, house in good repair.
yard waste removal
Rid of us of the druggies committing crimes
no bikes
Less traffic on l0 Mile from Rt. 52 because of afternoon traffic trying to avoid Beechmont Ave.
Be stricter on residence with junk cars, trash in yards, and high grass. Do not allow !
not raise taxes and live within means

reduce taxes - reduce fire/em/police
Lower taxes!
Not allow 700 homes be built on nearby farm property causing increased traffic and devaluing local property.
more protected Greenspaces.
Tear down the old Nine Mile Tavern and turn the area into a welcome to the Township Park
Need more upscale restaurants in the area.
Attract better restaurants and shopping...
Repair the walking paths in our community that are the responsibility of the Township
CLEAN UP BUSINESS FRONTS IE LANDSCAPE PAINT ECT
Keep taxes as low as possible
Lower taxes
More comm*l & industrial bussiness will help with tax.
some of the residential roads need repair/repaving
Continue to keep green space
More sidewalks from school to park to legendary run trails(access to Stonehaven)
more family owned restaurants and less chains
Some decent restaurants other than fast food or Mexican.
get my road re paved-been 20 years
Improve the quality of business establishments along SR 125. I would seek out highly successful small business/restaurant owners in other communities and present the
idea of opening an additional site in our area. We have too many sketchy used car dealerships, fast food joints, and other unattractive establishments.
Whenever we want to go to an actual sit down restaurant we find ourselves taking our money to other communities. When you look at the economic demographics of
Pierce Township, we definitely could support more higher quality establishments.
Easier access to I-275
communicate better with residents
more concerts in the park
Improve the overall zoning of the area, we are no longer a rural area.
Improve the roads
Perhaps more programs or events to create more of a sense of community, such as live music in the park during summer months.
Not continuing to ask for fire levies.
I'd widen Bradbury a little bit, add some guard rails in spots and repave it.
Work with Clermont County to bring more businesses or large companies to the area, so more development takes place. You are losing Duke Power Plant, so figure out
a way to replace them with other businesses.
Speed limits need to be lowered in many areas and enforced.
clean up junk from properties
Needs to develop an upscale dining and entertainment area around pierce point
incorporate Alpine Terrace
It would be nice if there was a nice retirement community and senior center in Pierce Township
Lower taxes.
Less empty buildings and don't ignore houses in foreclosure with things like uncut grass etc.
Attract more restaurants of a higher quality and atmosphere than we currently have.
as good as it get
Planning & Joint Co-Operation with other municipalities
communicating who, what, where Pierce Township is
Have more of a variety of restaurants, limit high end not just fast food and sidewalks on Merwin Ten Mile Road
Better rules on front & side yard storage
more upscale restaurants
Realize that the township is larger than Legendry Subdivision.
Be closer to civilization
have lower taxes.we don't need new equip now.or pay increase
Create more business opportunities. Need sustainable businesses rather than restaurants, hair cutters along 125. Disappointed that ursing home was not built on merwin ten
mile. We need a corporate office park culture in this area.
Full time Zoning Inspector. Vigorous enforcement of code. Long term this will result in more high end real estate investment.
More casual restaurants on 125 (like an Applebees or Chili's).

Be more creative in seeking new business opportunities, even in the areas that are currently being considered for more housing. Work more proactively in with county,
state, and federal government in trying to find potential business tenants for the Duke property. Duke won't do much, but if we were to find potential businesses, they
MIGHT listen to proposals. The ball is in our court to advance or turn over.
Lobbing Ohio for funding to return - state is transferring burden to local governments but not reducing taxes (so overall taxes increase when local government raises
taxes)
Don't have any idea
If there is a use or lose policy in any department replace it with an incentive instead. to conserve spending any surplus should go towards a rainy day fund reward the
department who spends the least
Look into purchasing used vehicles
Does Pierce need consultants?
Combination of real estate tax and income tax - graded (wealthier pay more)
quit buying greenspace and giving tax abatements on new buildings. be it business or homes
budget cuts other than emergency services. release report on income from taxes legendary run, new homes and new business - all we here about is beckjord loss

Find ways to being additional development (commercial and residential) to Pierce to offset tax revenues lost to Beckjord
It is OK to have a temporary levy, but not a permanent one. I will vote against that increase.
I don't mind paying higher taxes, but Trustee should do more than raise taxes and cut services. You can't do both (!!)...this will drive away the residents you want to keep
here, The Trustees should become more aggressive in planning and development of the 125 corridor, including to clean up and enforce what is there today, and create
more business partnerships for future ones.
Tax people that live in apartments. Problem solved! They use Pierce township service. I read where Beckjord will be energy storage plant for Duke and will not close.
At would at ways to reduce costs and propose a minimal operating levy to make up the difference.
Review all departments and the assess all aspects of financial outlays. Trustees should not be timid in using inside millage to fix township roads-- stop being political
and show some leadership.
I believe that the first priority of our township is to provide good basic services (adequate police & fire, good roads, etc). However, I think the level of police could be
reduced & we could utilize the Clermont County Sheriff if needed. I think that the level of fire service protection is adequate. I think the roads need to be maintained better
& if there is not enough money to do that, we should cut back on police parks, etc.
One possible alternative might be to sub-contract police services to the county (Anderson TWP does this now).
Develop along 52, think outside the box, what have other communities done with their river resource.
Put aggressive plan in place to attract back fill business
Improvement and/or expansion of parks, recreation &green space should be put aside leaving police, fire/ems alone until the financial situation improves through new
businesses and expansion of the current ones.
Cut back on wasteful spending in other areas.....there are many other places, i.e., administrative, to reduce spending than from the Police and Fire.
You new this was coming 15 years ago. Why didn't you plan for it?
I would wait to see if these "projections" of "expected losses" are correct. With more people and businesses moving into Pierce township, additional tax revenue
should offset some of this loss.
promote new business
Analyze, insure, and publicize that the budget, augmented for so long by Beckjord revenue (a luxury that most townships never had) does not have fat that can be
trimmed without cutting services.
Commercialize 125 more effectively
Get more business on 125. Develop the riverfront.
Are taxes are high enough and we don't see much work done
Operate within their means. Why couldn't fire and rescue pony up 5% more of the cost of their health care costs?? Taxpayers are burdened with paying their salaries,
healthcare and retirements-- as well as our own. Enough of the taxes, already!!!
An increase of percentage (e.g., 0.25%) in township sales tax
Review Losses and place a new operating levy on the ballot AND consider having residents and businesses pay for trash pick-up.
Possibly look into more retail or better selection of restaurants (not fast food) in the business section on 125 or Ten Mile ONLY. If you put retail or restaurants too close to
the community it will take away from the calmness and like ability that residents have grown to love!
Use a replacement levy with a slight increase instead of a new levy.
Please take into account specific concerns of residents as expressed at township meetings.
Surely there are more options. Try to look for some creative solutions instead of always falling back on taxation. What about sharing services with other townships in
similar situations?
Find and attract replacement reveue sources rather than pile the burden on taxpayers
Please DO NOT cut services Repurpose Beckjord-find new use with income.
Cut back on the use of expensive private consultants.
Stay within budget
Less revenue means less can be afforded. Taxes are already high. Don't sell assets such as land to maintain high spending. Land belongs to future generations and is
not an ongoing, sustainable source of revenue.
Please provide specifics as to the projected revenue loss.
Review losses again to see what should be trimmed.
this property is still there and there should be taxes until sold.
Cut back on frivolous spending. If monies can be spent on parks...then there should be monies for fire, police and road maintenance...which should be a priority. Pay a
good sum of money on property tax currently. Will NOT support additional levies.
not sure
Cut back on spending and manage the money as best as possible. Do not raise taxes. Hire less Twp. personal. (Fire/Maintenance)
You should have saved and prepared for this !\
Market to find new business to replace the lost revenue. Create economic zone for small businesses/start ups.
Develop a feasible plan to encourage compatible commercial development to increase our tax base, primarily focused on our parts of SR 125 and US 52. I doubt that an
earnings tax will make a significant difference. I think that the actual solution will require a blend of new and higher taxes, reduced services, and an enhanced tax base. The

challenges I perceive are doing this without materially impairing the characteristics which make Pierce desirable, particularly given our infrastructure limitations; and forging
community consensus, particularly given the sub-rational opposition to taxes that some harbor.
Look for ways to hand over departments to private companies..
don't know
a tax on non-residents also sounds appealing but is counter-productive
Find a way to attract new business
Review other cuts to nonessential services
FUNDRAISE WITH A CARNIVAL
A five year renewable levy with a performance evaluation included at the 4 year mark.
To have fire/ems only service pierce township and stop servicing new Richmond and other areas on a regular basis
Sell the properties the township owns that's not being used
Consider merging with Amelia police and fire depts. NO TAX LEVIES!
Solicit more businesses/develop more land
Business Development Tours
Not sure what it should be though.
By developing the Ohio Pike corridor, it should make it more attractive to high-end businesses to move in, creating higher tax revenue.
We are new to Pierce Township, but I feel certain there are cuts to be made in areas other than Police, Fire/EMS and Road Maintenance. I really get tired of the political
maneuvering to keep pork projects and give pay raises to officials while threatening cut backs in departments already operating on a budget that has experienced previous
cutbacks.
I believe that Union twsp has tried to bring alternate cost measures for maintenance and equipment for savings on items needed. We could try for a minimal increase if
the community believes or the perception is that the trustees are doing all they can to stretch the tax dollar. The community needs to know that ALL is done to make sure
no waste is in the community.
Don't know
cut back
Cut expenses as possible
Go over budget and communicate with public, must show Changes made to save money. Yes, we know about Beckjord and its impact. Combine services with other
adjoining communities, shared purchasing, shared basic services such as police and fire. No one wants to hear that but Pierce township does not have potential for growth
with limited avenues of revenue. Limited business developments. Went to meeting on 5 year plan in LR and the future looks grim for imprivements
cut all departments at the top to bottom
levy must be renewed not ongoing. five year levy is ideal
monitor school expenses do away with duplication of projects
Get rid of trustees living in legendary run communities. Residents in these communities should pay higher taxes because they receive greater benefits from our taxes.
Township services has declined for all other residents of the township except for the legendary run communities. I'm also very upset that the township is allowing
commercial businesses to operate in the residential area of dorado court. The trucks and equipment traveling on the road causes damage to the road and the township
has ignored it. I hope to make this an issue when trustee re-elections take place.
Make that big farm behind Windsor Place/Locust corner a BIG park with walking track, amphitheater, dog park, green space, etc! Soccer fields, etc and somehow earn
money there.
I am unsure what the answer is to losses in funding, but please do not cut safety (police and fire), because that is an essential part of any community.
While I do not have any hard facts to back this up - I know from living here for 40 years (I am 43 years old) that Pierce Township is mostly residential, with a comparatively
small amount of businesses. Therefore, I wonder how much revenue could be generated by non-resident earnings tax. Furthermore, cutting back on services will further
diminish our property values which have struggled to keep pace and restore growth as much as other communities that have stronger schools and services.. I know the
"fixed income" people out there will argue against ANY increases, but the reality is the services in our township have a direct impact on our lifestyle and property values.
And we already pay very little in tax. If they want to pay even less - move to Brown County!
Increase taxes in businesses and eliminate any tax reductions policies to lure businesses to township
The Beckjord closing has been public knowledge for years now and therefore should have been anticipated by elected officials becoming proactive instead of the
current/less responsible position of having to be reactive/executional rather than strategic.
cut back on everything
Reconsider having soooooo many different vehicles. It appears that we have every variety of vehicles and equipment that are very large township or community
would have.
find ways to cut budget without cutting into vital services such as Fire/EMS, Police and Road Maintenance
Beckjord closing has been known for years and there was no advance planning for this? Investigate cost savings with consolidation of government services.
consider or find other tax income opportunities, not just tax those who live here. Our taxes are already reasonably high. limited/concentrated development should
be considered an option to required income.
I HAD TO PAY BLUE ASH TAX FOR WORKING THERE. LOOK AT WHAT THEY HAVE
Consider a small sales tax on all retail purchases within the county less food
OPERATING LEVY FOR 1 YEAR ONLY FOR FIRE/EMS,POLICE, ROAD MAINTENANCE. PARKS/RECREATION AND GREEN SPACE DELAYED
FOR 2 YEARS.

2015 Pierce Township Community Survey

Have we studied and eliminated all sources of wasteful spending? Is there non critical spending that can be cut. For example, is Fire/EMS and police getting uniform
stipends every year that can be reduced or eliminated. This is just one example, but i know this is done in other places and the amount given is in excess of what is
necessary. Taxes are always an easier solution, but possibly this is an opportunity to identify excess that can be trimmed. I'm only in favor of an earnings tax if it is on
people working in Pierce Township. I am not in favor of taxing residents working outside of PT and paying earning taxes there.
Encourage new residential development with infrastructure availability, low/no fees, admin support and advertise our interest in development with Requests for Proposals
paid for by owners and township. Good luck with the custom design 5 acre parcels.
My property taxes are outrageous and my house is worth less than I paid for it 10 years ago. Try to attract more upscale housing and quit considering apartments. More
apartments will guarantee Pierce Township becoming a ghetto in 25 years. Develop the area along the river for some taxable purpose might be an idea. With dangerous
roads and intersections (like Bradbury/9mile) it is ridiculous to consider 1000's of more units
Use a levy to make up losses only in the necessary accounts using prudent budgeting and financial planning.
seek to attract new business to the township
Work with a developer to bring in new businesses
First consider a ways of doing business not just what other townships do or what has been done in the past. It would then make sense and only then to consider cuts
and additional taxes.
Review current spending trends and cut back on unnecessary spending.
Achieve competitive bids for contract services and road work.
Loss of money does not always mean you have to make deep cut backs. You just have to re align priorities and processes.
Review losses and place a new levy net of some level of service adjustments. Major road improvements should be highlighted as specific projects impacting the tax base
for that projects cost over a specific period of time.
Review loses, make some limited cuts, and ask for a minor increase in the township operating levy.
Increase the tax base through development, but not over-development.
cut back on parks and maintenance
Cut back on non safety services
Any levy/additional tax would have to have a term limit...12 months, etc. It cannot be an ongoing tax, such as the one proposed in the last election.
get every vacant house sold or rented to collect tax from owner.
Cut back on fire/EMS but not road maintenance.
I did not support the last fire levy because it was a continuing levy instead of a specific period of time. It was like giving a blank check to township when there may may not
be a township if we do not find other sources of income. Unfortunately the homeowners have had to bear the burden for paying for schools, fire, police, roads and we need
to find another source of revenue like imposing a tax on rental property so that everyone has skin in the game. I realize it is difficult in funding services since the State of
Ohio has cut back funding for cities, villages,
and township.
Don't want to pay anymore, hate to lose services, realize there are no easy answers.
Replace lost tax revenue by successfully recruiting new businesses to appropriate locations within the town in addition to finding a new commercial use for the Beckjord
plant.
Apparently generating more revenue (with the expect of taxes) is not on the list???? WTF. That is what I would expect my elected officials to have accomplished. This
Power plant issue is not a surprise or emergency. It was broadcast for years. Why have we not been able to be proactive in making up the revenue? In any event from the
choices you present I think first and foremost another round of cost review and position elimination/cost reductions are in order just like every family in Pierce Township
must do when faced with an income shortfall -- we cannot simply overspend and expect others to pick up our housing tab. I do not favor general taxpayer levy since where
does this end.... This year it is the fire/ems, next year it is the police, then how about the poor parks people -- everyone likes having roads right.... If we are going to tax than
I would favor doing an earnings tax on people who do not live here. Yes it is a penalty. Yes it makes working AND not living here less desireable and harder to hire those
people....BUT the PR around the last levy was that the money was needed to raise the wages of our fire/ems workers to make Pierce jobs more competitive. So if we are
using the money to make those wages more competitive and we are proud of where we live than those hired SHOULD want to move here and this earnings tax
incentivizes that. I want my police/EMS to be part of the community. Also bringing more people here improves the housing market which also translates to improved
property values and then more revenue.
Read my lips ! No New Taxes !!
cut back if needed if administrative services
Manage the money right
Perform a zero base budget analysis of all service areas, capital expnditures and administrative expenses then evaluate the results compared to the projected revenue. If
available consider the use of prior surplus then reduce cost in less critical service areas. Not focus on emotion concerning cut back in Fire/EMS Police and Road
Maintenance.
Insist Duke Energy make up for the loss...
Review budget and eliminate waste that is found.
encourage more commercial development along Ohio Pike and riverfront areas
Look at outsourcing functions that may be more cost effective if performed by for-profit third party(s); reduce trustee salaries and benefits...this would encourage
others to run who have nothing but the township's best interests at heart (and no interest in/need for the fringe benefits)
We need to live within our means and without specifics on the current costs and staff, it's a shot in the dark to recommend cut backs. Based on what we know, I'd
recommend that. Attracting businesses to the area would help increase the tax base. I do NOT favor an earnings tax or property owner tax increase/levy.
Cutting key services is not an option, however all levels of government waste plenty of dollars. We need to find new sources of revenue, and make sure the dollars we
have are spent correctly.

2015 Pierce Township Community Survey

Truly, this SURVEY is simply to provide ammunition to Pierce Township for a new levy. Does the Board truly believe this SURVEY is simply for feedback??!? I am not the
only resident who has voiced this exact sentiment.
Replace the loss of the Duke Power Plant with other businesses! Offer tax incentives or other opportunities to bring in more development.
Need to entice business growth between pierce point and krogers.
Reduce non-labor operating expenses.
user fee
Attract more restaurants / small businesses and fund raisers
Not sure but operating levy and taxing are unattractive options,
Require anyone unemployed and collecting unemployment benefits to do community service and keep the area beautified.
While we need to live within our means, we also need to be practical to provide enough tax base for our basic services and also to guarantee that the township will
continue to be a desired relocation destination. Securing the tax base now will only improve our situation years ahead.
Take steps to help residents understand what happens when liberal Democrats are elected - power plants are closed, the economy is stifled, and taxes go up.
Conservative messaging would help.

Try to encourage another large employer to establish a presence in Pierce Township.
Cut 10% across the board
Find a way to secure grant money to develop our community
Attempt to bring businesses to the area since they are the largest tax contributors. Homeowners are already taxed enough.
Cut back across the board - not just Fire/EMS, Police and Road Maintenance. You may wish to inquire of Tom Keating whether or not the third option above is
legal/constitutional. Query distinguishing between residents and non-residents employed in the Township-5th/14th amendment concerns.
Look at payroll and service provider costs (and energy costs)
The possibility that Duke was going to shut down Beckjord was not a surprise; instead, it was known for a considerable amount of time. Contingency plans for alternative
sources of the lost tax revenue should have been in place well before Duke's eventual closure. Pierce Township needs to aggressively work on attracting other
commercial/industrial businesses, possibly even offering subsidies and/or other packages. Additional taxes on the residents to offset the lost revenue from Duke should
not be a consideration. Pierce Township needs a larger commercial base.
I'm not sure what I believe is the answer to this dilemma. I hate to see a cut in services, however, I know that there are a lot of people unable to afford another levy.
Pierce Township is not alone in experiencing a reduction in revenues. Almost all local governments have experienced this over the past few years. Many have responded
by reviewing services to determine if reductions in service or more efficient ways of delivering the same services could be provided within their existing resources. I noticed
this is not an option suggested in your survey. Perhaps you could consider this before asking for another revenue increase. It seems that when residents suggest something
that might be sufficient, but is not the Cadillac version, the Trustees reject it in favor of the Cadillac. Perhaps you could consider what Union Township has done regarding
reducing the expense of major vehicle purchases. These have been described in various news articles in the Community Press. The press has also reported that the
Trustees choose a proposed fire levy that is not permitted by the Ohio Revised Code. There is no reason this should have been a surprise. The Ohio Revised Code
governs everything Ohio local governments can do. It is a public document. A review of the Code, either by the Committee or the Law Director, prior to the recommendation
would have shown this. Perhaps you should consider some other options before those proposed on the survey.
before any new levy would suggest better disclosure on fire/police needs. Limit length of levy and improve what is only necessary.
Cut back on Police
Reduce salting distributions to cover stop intersections. Hopper Hill Farms ALWAYS gets cleaned but you over salt the entire subdivision often unnecessarily (just
thinking how to save).
Cut other administrative expenses by hiring a service firm perform administrative services. Police dept lacks integrity so shut down and transfer to sheriff.
encourage new development and attract new businesses
More housing development, esp. for seniors with no children for schooling, to increase tax base.
What happened to the money that the new Kroger is bringing in?
Spend less on parks or in nonessential areas. I feel the growth in higher priced homes should offset the need to raise taxes. We all are paying way too much of our hard
earned income while others pay little or nothing.
Get ruthless with your budgets. Cut out waste. Taxes are too high already. We moved here in early '90s because of lower taxes - not anymore.
We should also research ways to attract new businesses to our community.
Cut back where it makes sense. Every department can cut back on their budget 5-6%. We moved to Pierce Township because the taxes were low....NO MORE
TAXES!!
Review your expenditures/expenses and operate more efficiently with the money available without cutting necessary police/fire/road maintenance services and only
place new operating levy on the ballot after a careful audit/review of your operation to demonstrate that's the only viable solution.
Complete a review on all staff employed by the Township and ensure that money is being spent efficiently; that should include a review of salaries and benefits. Include
active employee reviews of staff to ensure they are doing their jobs and if it isn't already being done pay based on performance and not tenure.
Here's a novel idea, if residents reject a levy, respect that !! Try cutting back across the board.
Make sure dollars are being spent wisely.
Consider shared services with nearby townships but only if it would not result in a decrease in services.
Attract business and employment through favorable business policies and regulations
