A habitat is a place where plants and animals live. Another name for a habitat is an environment.

There are 6 habitats in Georgia. They are the Piedmont, Mountain, Marsh, Swamp, Coast, and Ocean.

This PowerPoint will be about the Georgia Piedmont.

What is a habitat?

Where is this habitat located? The Piedmont is located in the north

central part of Georgia.

What does the land look like? The Georgia Piedmont is a land of gently

rolling hills. There are also many lakes, streams, ponds, and rivers.

What kind of animals live there? There are lots of animals in

the Piedmont.

Warblers, deer, rabbits, bats, skunks, squirrels, raccoons, possums, bobcats, and foxes live on the land.

Frogs, turtles, cottonmouth snakes, bass, trout, mussels, salamanders, and beavers live in or near the water.

The Georgia Piedmont is the largest habitat region in the state.

Georgia’s state bird, the brown thrasher, and Georgia’s state tree, the live oak, are found in the Piedmont.

Columbus, Georgia is located in the Piedmont habitat region.
