1.What is the project and How can I do it?

The project will consist of :·A digital picture story using “Storybird"·an oral presentation in classEXAMPLE:https://storybird.com/books/a-terrible-day-11/?token=762sggp9mq

The topic of your story is up to you .You can choose any of the picture collections on STORYBIRD and, on the basis of the chosen pictures, make up a story. (minimum number of pages :7/ minimum number of words :150)

In order to write the text of your story you can ask your teachers for help and also use one of the suggested on line resources mentioned in this document.

2.Project steps

1.Register on STORYBIRD with the user and password your teacher will provide .Choose a topic , a title and a picture collection for your story.

2.Plan the parts of the story: setting( place, time), characters and the plot (=series of events :exposition, conflict, climax, resolution)

3.Write a draft: ask your teacher for help, if necessary, and use dictionaries ( paper or on line ones)

4. Give your draft to your teacher, so that it can be corrected.

5. Make sure you correct all the mistakes in the draft and create the final version of your story. Rehearse the oral part of your presentation.

6.Present your picture story in class. And remember YOU CANNOT READ!!!

3.Team members

This is a team project – 3 or 4 people must think, work and do the project.

The final MARK is a GROUP MARK. So be always cooperative and help out.

4. STEPS one by one

A .Register on “Storybird”

Go to https://storybird.com , and using the user and password your teacher will give you, get registered.

Get familiar with the tools there and click the tab “write”. There browse the existing topics or type in one of your own to decide what your story will be about.

Talk in your team and come to an agreement .Then choose the picture style you prefer and click on “use this art”.

A collection of related pictures will show. Plan the outline of your story with the help of the images there. Now start adding pages and pictures.

   Finally,check for mistakes or errors:  

1.Verb forms and Tense coherence

2.Word order (adverb/adjective position,

word order in the sentence…)

3.Sentence subjects (missing, too many….)

4.Use of prepositions,

articles ,adverbs ,pronouns and adjectives

5.Subject-verb agreement

6.Vocabulary: spelling and accuracy

7.Linkers and order of ideas

Once you get your corrected draft, make the necessary changes and transfer the text onto your storybird book .

Now hand in your DRAFT, including the team members’ introduction .The teacher will correct it and give it back to you, so that you can produce the final perfect version of your story.

Now it’s time for rehearsal : in your team decide who is going to present each part of the story and bear in mind the following:

5.Project timeline·

Day 1: Read this paperJoin your team . (Remember 3 or 4 people)Register on STORYBIRD: https://storybird.comBrowse the tools ,topics, picture collections.

Day 2: Decide on the topic, picture collection, settings, characters, plot and number of pages of the story(minimun 7). Create a “blank” story.

Day 3: With the help of dictionaries ( paper or online), school notes, and teachers’ help write a draft version of your story and give the printed draft to the teacher.

Day 4/5: Once the teacher has checked your project, she’ll give it back to you ,so that you create the “perfect” final version and publish it. Now it’s time to practise the ORAL version of your presentation.

Day 5/6: Classroom presentation in front of classmates.

6.Project Assessment

The project will be 15 % of 3rd term mark.

The score will be the following:

·Writing skill (6) :Grammar, vocabulary, coherence: 4 /1 /1 .

·Speaking skill (4) : intonation and pronunciation , effort to memorize the text, acting /dialogue , and target language interaction/ team work while doing the project.

· Extras (+/- 1) : this can include written copy and submission on the due date

IF YOUR PROJECT IS GOOD enough AND YOU WANT,YOUR PROJECT WILL BE SHOWN ON THE English Department Wiki!!!!!

MAKE SURE:

a) your text is long enough

b) You hand in draft and final project on the due date

c) you don't copy and paste any parts of the project from the Internet

d) you don't use a translator device or service

OR you'll get into trouble!!!!!
