THE GREEN LIGHT
The LED Generation…. For Schréder, it is innovative, intelligent and responsible.
We have developed a complete range of LED luminaires across all our business
sectors: street lighting, urban lighting, tunnel lighting and illuminations.
These products reflect our desire to continue “Right Lighting”, by offering
technological solutions that make this new light source a valid alternative to
traditional sources.
To do so, we have developed concepts that will make LEDs the new instrument of our
ambition - to offer the lighting solutions of tomorrow.

Schréder has developed a photometric engine concept to cover every type of urban
lighting application.
LensoFlex®. A photometric engine that builds on the flexibility offered by a selection
of lenses developed by Schréder, with the goal of creating ambiances and meeting
the needs of urban lighting.

Our luminaires are designed with an eye towards sustainable development. They can
be characterised by a number of commitments:
• To use energy rationally, via highly effective photometric engines;
• To reach required levels while complying with international standards;
• To maximise energy savings through intensity variation (dimming) and remote
management systems.
Our LED luminaires also offer the following advantages:
• Long LED service life and reduced maintenance costs;
• Recyclable and durable materials, such as glass and aluminium;
• Compliance with our “Green Light” label.

To offer reliable, durable and effective solutions, Schréder has developed two
concepts:
ThermiX®. Optimise heat extraction to maintain 80% of the nominal luminous flux(*)
at 60,000 hours of use up to a maximum ambient temperature of 35°C.
This concept is based on several factors:
• Thermal compartmentalisation between the LEDs and the control gear;
• Direct conduction by minimising the path between the heat source and the outside;
• Optimised design of the external heat exchange surface;
• A temperature sensor to avoid accidental overheating.(*) 70% for certain luminaires
LEDSafe®. To ensure a long service life by preventing dust and water from getting into
the optical compartment, Schréder has implemented the LEDSafe® system. This is
based on the idea of a completely sealed photometric engine. Protected by glass,
the LEDs and lenses do not come into direct contact with the outside environment.
This helps to ensure that performance is preserved over time.
UPgradaBle TeCHNologY
In our latest luminaires we have developed the FutureProof concept. This will allow
on-site replacement of the photometric engine or electronic assembly at the end of an
LED’s service life, and thereby allow users to integrate future innovations.

Piano luminaires are available in two sizes: Piano 1 up to
48 LEDs and Piano 2 up to 96 LEDs.
The design of the LensoFlex® photometric engine and
the flexibility of the photometric distributions makes the
Piano range an ideal instrument for lighting streets, public
places, parks - optimising the creation of ambiances
that are both a source of well-being and safety for those
making use of the city.
Piano luminaires offer excellent photometric solutions
for low-level areas, such as under foliage, and do not
generate intrusive light for people living in apartments.
A bracket at the rear means that streets, side-streets
and large pavements can be lit using the same luminaire
design. The wall bracket allows for the lighting of narrow
streets as well as any poorly lit areas.

Piano luminaires are equipped with the LensoFlex®
photometric system. This system is based upon the
addition principle of photometric distribution.
Each LED associated with a specific lens generates the
complete photometric distribution of the luminaire. It is the
number of LEDs that determines the intensity level of the
light distribution.
Schréder has therefore specifically developed a range
of lenses which together cover a wide spectrum of
photometric solutions for creating ambiances. The
LensoFlex® concept enables LEDs to be placed horizontally.
It is especially suitable for lighting urban spaces where the
well-being and safety of people using the city are essential.

ThermiX®: THermal maNagemeNT
We have developed the ThermiX® concept based on optimising several parameters
that are involved in the thermal management of LEDs:
• The thermal compartmentalisation between LEDs and electronic control gear;
• Direct conduction: the heat escapes via the shortest path from the source to the
exterior;
• The optimised design of the thermal exchange surface with the exterior;
• The LED circuits (PCB) are equipped with a temperature sensor to avoid any
accidental overheating.
The Thermix® concept maintains 80% of the initial luminous flux for a minimum of
60,000 hours, up to a maximum ambient temperature of 35°C.
ledsafe® aNd eXTra-Clear glass
To maximise the reliability of its LED luminaires, Schréder introduced the LEDSafe®
concept. Like Sealsafe® - which is recognised as a bench mark in traditional source
public lighting - LEDSafe® is based on the principle of a completely sealed photometric
engine. This process ensures that the photometric performance is maintained over time
by preventing water and dust from penetrating the optical compartment.
The protector of the Piano luminaire is in extra-clear glass, which optimises the
transmission of luminous flux.
HIgHlY eFFICIeNT PoWer sUPPlY
The Piano luminaires are equipped with power supplies. They ensure 90% efficiency
and fulfil Safety Extra Low Voltage (SELV) requirements.
The supply current is 350 mA to optimise the efficacy of the LEDs and maximise
lifespan.
The power supply also offers an increased protection against power surges.
Each luminaire has a temperature sensor that reduces the power supply by 70% in
the event the temperature exceeds the maximum authorised - for example, when the
network administrator switches on the luminaire during the day (for maintenance,
testing, etc.), with a particularly high ambient temperature.
Input of 1-10V, allows a user to integrate a dimming system to optimise energy used.
FUTUreProoF
Piano luminaires are designed to meet our FutureProof concept. Both the photometric
engine and the electrical power supply can be replaced on-site to take advantage of
any future technological developments.

eNergY CoNsUmPTIoN
Piano luminaires have demonstrated remarkable photometric performance, equipped with flat glass.
For example, for the Piano 1 (32 LEDs) used on a 5m-wide M4 classification road, according to CIE recommendation
No.115, the installed power to handle the required luminance level of 0.75 cd/m2 is less than 0.75 W per m² of road and
per cd/m² required. This also takes into account the depreciation factors for both the LEDs and the luminaire.
For 4000 hours of use per year and for 100m of road, this corresponds to a consumption of less than 3.0 kWh/day, or
emissions of less than 1.4 kg CO2/day (according to the European average of 0.46 kg CO2/kWh).
The flexibility of the LensoFlex® photometric engine allows for multiple light distributions to respond better to the
requirements of urban lighting.
Furthermore, the options for varying the number of LEDs allows for a precise adaptation to the nominal power of the
luminaire according to the area that is to be lit.
On a project by project basis, our teams are on hand to offer you a range of solutions using either LEDs or discharge lamps.
As the specifications for each project become clear, so the right solution emerges, bearing in mind any constraints you may
be working with.
VarIaBle INTeNsITY (dImmINg) For greaTer saVINgs (oPTIoNal)
Piano luminaires can be fitted with an independent dimming system. This is an important way of reducing energy
consumption - capable of saving up to 30%. The programmable levels range from 1-5. The different dimming levels are
handled daily and automatically adapted according to the length of the night.
Contrary to traditional sources, LEDs allow for the variation of intensity at a very low level keeping the same colour
temperature and same colour rendering index without losing light efficiency. The luminous flux is, in effect, reduced in
practically the same proportion as the energy consumption.
memPHIs, THe moBIle reFleCTomeTer
Thanks to the Memphis road surface reflectometer, we can precisely determine the
amount of light for the “right light” based on the type of surface. Memphis allows
for multiple measures, on site, reflecting the characteristics of the road without
damaging it.
By associating Memphis with the LensoFlex® system, we are able to rigorously define
the most optimised photometry.
This combination offers the ideal solution for specifically tailoring a lighting system
and ensures optimum control of the energy consumed.

The Piano luminaires can also incorporate the OWLET remote management system.
This open-source, bidirectional communication system is based on the principle of radio frequency via the ZigBee
protocol. It offers numerous advantages:
• Total flexibility of light levels and timings;
• Real-time feedback on the actual state of the light;
• Accurate measurement of energy use;
• Adjustment of power level: Virtual Nominal Power;
• Autonomous compensation system for flux depreciation over time: Constant Lumen Output;
• Independent of the supply network.
