3 Pi Phi Luncheon & Fashion Show a Hit!
This year we Spanned the Generations as we honored Pi Phi Families at our Dallas Alumnae Club Luncheonand Style Show themed “The Secret Garden” held at the Belo Mansion on Tuesday, April 2nd. Mother andDaughter-in-law duo Libba Massey and Anne Massey were the co-chairs of this amazing event. Approximately500 guests attended the luncheon which featured a style show with fashions from Tootsies, Betty Reiter, Orvisand Kid Biz. Jan Strimple directed the style show with Pi Phis and their families as models. The Style Showbenefitted the Rory Meyers Adventure Garden at the Dallas Arboretum. Cecile Bonte was awarded theluncheon’s Unsung Hero Award presented by Sandra Estess for her contributions to the Dallas Arboretum.

Pi Phi Founders’ DayOn Thursday, April 18th, the Dallas Alumnae Club of Pi Beta Phi gathered to celebrate 146 years of our fraternity at the TexasBeta House. The Awards committee Paula Davis, Clare Buie Chaney, Angie Vaughan and Diana Vick presented the followingawards: National Award winner Margaret Milam McDermott received the Carolyn Helman Lichtenberg Crest Award, RobinRichardson Lewis received the Community Service Award, Mimi Bergerac Vanderstraaten received the Emma Harper TurnerLeadership Award, Anne Herndon Bradley received the Evelyn Peters Kyle Angel Award and Amy Anderson Zicarelli receivedthe Young Alumna Achievement Award.
Texas Beta Actives joined in the celebration by conducting the candle lighting ceremony in honor of our 12 founders. CarolNelson, Barbara Daniel and Jeanne Cox, Founders’ Day Co-Chairs conducted the Pinning Ceremony for our Diamond andGolden Arrows. The honorees received wine carnations and were pinned by their chosen Pi Phis. Pamela Musgrove sang PiPhi Grace for us. Outgoing President, Sandra Hipps installed Linda Yates as the Dallas Alumnae Club President for 2013-2014.

We also heard from Steve Hinkley, Vice President of Programs, who gave us an overview of how the Museum works every day and the long term plan for Dallas’ most impressive museum.

Did you know?The House Corps has a Pi Beta Phi Foundation account that gives scholarships each year. In past years we have looked for scholars with good grades, need, and community involvement. This year we also implemented an application process, which was really helpful and well received.
Pi Phi gave two $4,000 Scholarships to two of our amazing actives, Charlotte Calhoun & Kristyn Jones and a $3,000 scholarship to an exceptional senior, Erin Hoya, who is not affiliated with Pi Beta Phi.
The Pi Phi Legacy Party was held at Linda Yates’ home on Tuesday, May 14th. Our legacies shared a special afternoon with their mothers, grandmothers, sisters and lots of cute actives. A big thank you goes out to our legacy party chairman, Kathy Vassallo and to our hostess, Linda Yates!

The CAR Program, a month long reading enrichment program, was started this year at the West Dallas Community School by Michelle Scudder and Stephanie Briggs on behalf of the Dallas Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Club. Many volunteers helped with the program and had a great time with the students. Elizabeth Modory, Michelle Scudder, & Stephanie Briggs presented graduation certificates to participants completing the program.

Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Club’s Annual Easter Egg HuntThe 2013 Easter Egg Hunt was a big success! Children enjoyed balloon artists and petting bunnies, llamas, goats and more in the petting zoo, blowing mega bubbles with bubble wands, riding in the fun-time train, and of course hunting many eggs! A big thank you to KidVille and Balloonies for their sponsorship!
SMU Pi Phi actives were a wonderful help at registration and playing with children, thank you to our lovely local actives!
Proceeds from the Pi Beta Phi Easter Egg Hunt will go to Angels for EOS Foundation in honor of Anne and Libba Massey.

Spotlight on Dallas Area Collegians
Capri Neurohr is entering her senior year at The University of Texas at Austin where she pledged Pi Beta Phi and is majoring in Nursing. Capri, the daughter of Stephanie and Hunt Neurohr, a 2010 graduate of The Episcopal School of Dallas, comes from a long line of Pi Phis. Capri’s maternal grandmother, Nancy Cartlidge Scholz Lewis, recently celebrated 50 years of membership and was awarded the Golden Arrow Pin; Suzette Scholz Derrick, Capri’s aunt, and Stephanie Scholz Neurohr, Capri’s mother, are also proud Pi Phis.
Capri is a Texas Cowboy Sweetheart. Capri and the Texas Cowboys helped the UT Austin Texas Alpha chapter raise money for First Book, a nonprofit organization, which donates books to underprivileged children. She cheered on the sidelines at The Annual Powder Puff Football Game against The Kappa Kappa Gammas. Capri is a member of Hosts After School Reading Program at Zavala Elementary in Austin,Texas where she helps students improve their reading skills. Capri has written articles for Arrow Board, the weekly Pi Phi newsletter, sharing the newest Austin trends and events. She also participates in the Pi Phi Intramural Team, a group of Pi Phi sisters who compete in
sporting events against other sororities and interest groups on campus. This summer, Capri works at Baylor Plano, on the Oncology floor, and Presbyterian Plano, in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, she plans to pursue her Masters Degree, specializing in Neonatal Care.
Madeleine Sherrington is the daughter of Debbie and Kevin Sherrington and a second-generation University of Arkansas student. A 2011 graduate of Hillcrest High School in Dallas, Texas, Madeleine is a junior majoring in marketing and economics and is a member of Leadership Walton. She pledged Pi Phi as a freshman and made the Step Team with the AKA’s her first fall. She was also a member of the dance team for Sigma Chi Derby Days and volunteered regularly at the Boys and Girls Club. In her spare time, Madeleine was aninstructor at Art of Motion dance studio in Fayetteville. Her sophomore activities on campus increased greatly her sophomore year as she became a member of the Arkansas Pom squad. She performs at football, basketball and baseball games and will continue to do so in her second year with the Pom squad beginning this fall.
Madeleine loves being a Pi Phi, which has provided her a strong foundation at Arkansas and friendships that will last a lifetime.
