Hello Students & Families! Here are this week’s voluntary Phys-Ed, Media and Music activities. We hope these activitiesencourage you to engage in unstructured play and be creative and mindful. If you choose tocomplete some or all of the activities and would like to share them with us please feel free to e-mail your work to Mrs. MacKenzie ([email protected]), Mrs. Rich ([email protected])and/or Miss Harrison ([email protected]). You can print the activities or just write yourresponses on a blank piece of paper and take a picture. Parents & Guardians, before allowing your child/children to do any of the activities...

We have been learning about differentinstrument families and the types ofsound and music they make. This week you have the opportunity tomake your own musical instrument. Before you start to create yourinstrument talk to an adult about thematerials you are using and make surethey say that your plan is okay andsafe. You can use the template onpage 6 to design your instrument first. Be creative and have fun! if you needsome inspiration you can click on thepictures below to watch a tutorial onhow to build that instrument.

There are many different games andactivities that we can play both insideand outside. This week see how manydays you can explore an inside oroutside environment and create yourown play. Maybe you will invent anew game or go on an imaginaryadventure! Before you play, talk toan adult about your boundaries andsafety rules.
Look at or print out the Emoji Gamepage on page 4. Identify each emotion, write it down ifyou like! Discuss/write how you feelwhen you experience each emotion. Remember it's okay to feel youremotions and it's important to talkthrough your feelings. Acknowledging our emotions createssupport in our home environment andcan strengthen our familyrelationships.

Swirling Sometimes, we all have feelings thatseem too big to handle. This activitycan help us learn to manage thesefeelings. At Cootes, many classrooms haveplastic calm down bottles similar tothe one in this video. With the permission of an adult, youcan research how to make a calmdown bottle for your family usingmaterials you have at home. How are you feeling today? Listen to The Mood Song by theband Narwhals and Waterfalls.This song talks about the differentmoods or emotions you might befeeling. You can use the Emoji Game, fromyour Media Choice #1, on page 4to follow along and point to thedifferent moods and emotions inthe song. Can you write your own verse tothe Mood Song? Use the song template on page 7to write your own lyrics about howyou are feeling today. Sing along using your lyrics orplay the instrument you createdfor your Music Choice #1 alongwith the song.
